I noticed that the Friendship Express Train in the opening is different now.

In "Lesson Zero" and "Luna Eclipsed" it's like this:
  • Blue, yellow-roofed engine (containing one stallion)
  • Brown, pink-roofed car (containing three elderly ponies) with a second level (containing Derpy)
  • Brown, yellow-roofed car (containing three mares)
  • Brown, blue-roofed car (containing three mares)
  • Brown, purple-roofed car (containing one mare and two mustached stallions) with a pink platform (holding a suitcase and a trunk)
  • Blue, yellow-roofed caboose (containing two mares)
  • Blue, yellow-rimmed cart (containing the Cutie Mark Crusaders)

In "Sisterhooves Social" it's like this (changed colors are in bold, moved segments are in italics):
  • Pink, yellow-roofed engine (containing one stallion)
  • Brown, pink-roofed car (containing three elderly ponies) with a second level (containing Derpy)
  • Purple, pink-roofed car (containing one mare and two mustached stallions) with a blue platform (holding a suitcase and a trunk)
  • Brown, yellow-roofed car (containing three mares)
  • Brown, blue-roofed car (containing three mares)
  • Pink, yellow-roofed caboose (containing two mares)
  • Blue, yellow-rimmed cart (containing the Cutie Mark Crusaders)

The engine has the same color as its toy version now (and the caboose's color still matches the engine's), but your guess is as good as mine about the rearranging and the other color changes.

Well, it's just an engine... I'm okay with this until Hasbro doesn't ask animators to make Celestia pink in the show.

I think maybe you should take a break from the pony bro...

But, the toys suck. they should be trying to make the toys more like the show, not the show more like the toys! >:/

Ooh, nice catch.

I don't think there was some big reason for the change, but it's a fun detail.

That's some nifty working there. It's always important to catch these things early.

Or, y'know, Ponyville has more than one train?

There is indeed some warrant to analyzing this otherwise minor detail. A common problem with cartoons, not necessarily even "girly" ones, is an overuse of purple and pink. John K's blog had articles with a bunch of examples of this phenomenon. MLP:FiM seems to use a nicer, broader palette, and I subjectively prefer the original train colors in this scene as it is a good accent and seems to bring forth the bluish hues in the scene.

Before decrying this as executive meddling, however, it could be that the train was recolored so as to echo the air balloon Twilight and Spike are disembarking in this scene and restrain the scene's "business." Furthermore, this is just the OP, which is effectively an advertisement for the show itself. As long as Hasbro does not wantonly drop pink and purple all over Equestria, we can still sleep at night.

I knew I noticed that cupcake-shaped Derpy/Foster car was missing!

What bugs ME is the lack of a tender or visible bunker and water tanks.

Scootsmod, the sad thing is it's way easier to recolour a Flash sprite. Plus for all we know, this is a case of two locomotives of the same class but with different liveries.

Zelda's right,I don't see a tender or a bunker and water tanks.

The train shouldn't even be operational, but you could say that it's powered by magic.
