They have to appear yet on the show. As far as I know, if it's depicted on a fanfic I haven't read it, if it's described on some comics I haven't seen them, and I'd like to know what does the writers come up with for them. I bet it'll be awesome, like Rarity's dad.

We've never seen any evidence that Skewtulew doesn't go home erry'day to a family in a home like the others do. So she has a dad n mom n stuff.
RBD lives in her cloud mansion on the outskirts of cloudsdale, while her parents live in cloudsdale proper. She visits erry so offin, but you know dash: independent n stuff. Flootarshai's parents... uh... I've no idea. Someone make something up. |

Fluttershy murdered her family after turning into the incredible hulk and is now hiding in ponyville trying to be as peaceful as possible.
Dash's dad was a stuntman for the wonderbolts but he died. Now Dash wants to be a wonderbolt to walk in his footsteps. But, close to the end of the movie you find out her dad worked at a grocery store and he choked on a piece of bread or something. Scootaloo is foreveralone.jpg |

I haven't really thought about these three's family much. Or any of the mane six's families, really. I DO wonder if the Princesses have/had parents or something...
Anyway, I bet we'll see more of the mane six's relatives this season, hopefully not just in flashbacks. Rarity's parents appearing in the last episode seems like a good sign. |

Head-canon?
Dash - I don't personally have one. She lives alone, may or may not have a two-parent home, maybe has a younger sibling, but that's about it. Scootaloo - Cheerilee's her sister, may be raised by Cheerilee. My second headcanon is that she has a pegasus brother. Applejack - Tex is her dad, she's Baby Applejack from G1, her mom is Applejack. Her mother died, Applebloom is either adopted or a half sibling, and I don't care enough about her dad to have a head-canon for him (besides Braeburn being related to Jackie by him). The reality? They probably all have alive parents. |

fluttershy is half earth pony, but never saw the ground because of a divorce when she was very young.
scootaloo is an only child who would have had a sibling but it miscarried. dash ran away from home after dropping out of flight school. she got mixed in with a bad crowd thanks to gilda, some bad stuff went down and her mom got all scared and sad "you're moving with your auntie and uncle in ponyville!" she begged and pleaded with her day after day but she packed her suitcase and sent her on her way she gave her a kiss and then she gave her a ticket she put her flight goggles on and said she might as well kick it. she flew up to her house around seven or eight and she yelled to the cabby "yo homes smell ya later." she looked at her new home she was fully thrilled, to live in her home as the ace of ponyville. |

Scootaloo- Lives with mom. No dad. Never explained why. I think mom is a little non-attentive so Scoots is looking for attention and wants to be validated with her Cutie Mark.
Fluttershy - 2 parents. Both love her very much. Live in Cloudsdale. Not much to say about them. Applejack - Both parents are gone for unexplainable reasons. But Applebloom is indeed her sibling. Rainbow Dash - Most interesting. My headcanon says that her parents are disappointed in how she quit/got kicked out of Flight School. My headcanon states her dad is someone important (government, school) I suspect her to be an only child, but in the small case she DOES have a sibling, I'm guessing an older brother who MAY be in the Wonderbolts or a different team. AND THAT'S MY HEADCANON. |

Well since at least 2 of the parents have had colors similar to the g1 designs the mane 6 were based off of (Twilight's Mom and Rarity's Mom) I'm confident that if they do show RD's parents her mother will at least share Firefly's color scheme. As for AJ I have a feeling it'll be some cross-food pairing (her aunt is an orange after all) and Scoots I never really thought of but I like the orphan angle for extra sappiness. |

I'm imagining an episode in which each of the mane six's parents come to visit all at once for some reason and end up hanging out with one of their daughters' friends instead.
Rarity's seem to be a good fit with Applejack. Applejack's would be geniuses (I know, right?), so they'd go with Twilight. We don't have much of a read on Twilight's, but my guess for them would be Fluttershy, making them paranoid, studious shut-ins. Twilight's social growth unnerves them. Pinkie's parents may prefer Rarity for her refinement, calmness, and piles of gems. Fluttershy's would tear up the skies with Rainbow Dash. Perhaps their stunts made Fluttershy frightened of flying in the first place? And Rainbow Dash's would be free-spirited, flaky friends of Pinkie Pie. Dash gets her independent streak from her parents having allowed her to do whatever she wanted as a foal. They neglected to punish her for anything, or they may even have neglected her (that's how you pick up friends like Gilda!) |

In my headcannon, Fluttershy's mum left her family when FS was little. Her father is an army general who is into heavy discipline which is why Fluttershy is very submissive and quiet.
Dash' family is pretty standard. Her mum hates it when Dash does daring stuff but her dad is very supportive of it. Scootaloo... I'll come back to you. |

Oh, and I remember someone saying that Scootaloo was Cheerilee's sister in a previous gen, so I've imagined that since then. Didn't see them in the sister competition, though, so I'm not sure about its status as headcanon anymore. |

I'm thinking that Dash had a pretty rough time with her folks and left home fairly. My guess being over wanting to join the Wonderbolts and her parents disapproving. Her cloud mansion is testament to her own self-importance and need to feel better about herself.
Fluttershy probably has a fairly normal family. I'd love so much for her to have a really raucous and loud mother and really timid father though. I can so see her mum being really friendly, but in a slap-on-the-back kinda way. Possibly with a love for sports. And probably admiring Rainbow Dash for her vigour. Her father could be a vet. Scootaloo was handled as an egg so her mother rejected her. |

Fluttershy's folks were a bit surprised by her announcement that she wanted to leave Cloudsdale and become a critterologist. Still, they love their daughter and support her ground-based lifestyle.
Dash's parents are very successful business / management types. They've always felt that she should give up on the "foalish" dream of becoming a Wonderbolt. Needless to say, they haven't taken her flunking out of Flight School, then taking up a weather patrol job in a boring little town next to Everfree, particularly well. Recently, however, they've made a few tentative attempts to reconnect with her, probably because Dash has shown signs of success. Scootaloo's father is a pegasus, and mother is an earth pony; they both work for the Ponyville city government. She loves them both, but has recently start worrying that her small wings and lack of flight ability might be due to her earth pony inheritance. The combination of gnawing uncertainty and frustration on one hoof, and guilt for placing the blame on her mom, is setting Scoot up for some teenage angst and drama unless someone manages to help her defuse it all. |

Fluttershy's parents strongly disapprove of her ground-based lifestyle. In fact, if they knew where she was, they'd drag her back to Cloudsdale and force her to become a professional flyer.
Dash's parents are the opposite: they're very gentle and very supportive, much like Fluttershy herself. They and Fluttershy get along very well when they first meet and encourage their daughter to maintain her friendship with the other pegasus. Scoot's parents are present and the three all live together in Ponyville, but they are so ashamed of their flightless daughter that they are never seen in public together. They spend their time at home teaching her to fly. Such strict training is what drives her away from her parents and towards the laid-back Rainbow Dash. |

I have trouble picturing Fluttershy coming from a home with parents or siblings that pay a lot of attention to her. Whenever she gets scared she NEVER cries out for help from others, but rather just panics or shuts down - as if she is used to there being nopony to save her. Her vicious defense of her friends likewise suggests that she understands the incredible value of them...because she never had any support before RD stood up for her.
Scootaloo seems like an only child who ardently wishes she had a big sister like RD. She is obsessed with having this idol to look up to - which suggests her parents are either not worth admiring or, more likely, too different from her in their interests to inspire her (so, bookish, cultured, safety-conscious or all of the above). Dash strikes me as a Daddy's Girl or Army Brat, taking after a butch and gung-ho father. If he was a Wonderbolt she probably would have gloated to that effect, but he is still most likely both a good flyer and highly extroverted. I picture her mom as taking a supporting role - grounding Dash's more risky ideas, packing her lovingly-made lunches, applying first aid when she crashes and the like. RD would bristle at all the mothering but never turn it away completely, since deep down she knows it's an expression of love...and she appreciates it. |

Scootaloo- Dunno, but based on how she worships Dash, I'm guessing she's an only child.
Fluttershy - Her mom is Posey from G1, and her father is a pegasus. Applejack - Her mother died giving birth to Applebloom. Her father responded to her death by keeping mostly to himself, and eventually worked himself to death. Rainbow Dash - Her mom is Firefly from G1. That's all I can think of. |

Scootaloo: Only child. Fairly normal home life. Her mother wants her to be more feminine. Her father is kind of a nerd, but is trying his best to be a good parent to his jock of a daughter. She loves them, but Dash is just so much cooler than either of them.
Fluttershy: Keeps in touch with her family in Cloudsdale through mail. Some tut at her terrestrial lifestyle, but her parents are just happy that she's found somewhere where she can be happy. Rainbow Dash: Total daddy's girl. He's the one who introduced her to the Wonderbolts and was a constant source of encouragement. Her mother was a balancing influence, thinking and worrying when neither husband nor daughter bothered to. |

Scoots: Mom's a pegasus, Dad's an earth pony. A normal, caring household. Mom is the quiet industrious type who works as a mail-mare. Dad is used carriage salesman, full of pep and spunk.
Fluttershy: Dad's a former wonderbolt, Mom's is Posey. I like to think of her and Spitfire as sisters. Dash: I like to think of her family as huge sports nuts. Tailgating, season tickets to the Wonderbolts, the whole nine yards. They never really bonded with RD because of their dedication to sports, and that's really the only thing they talk about. |

Definitely in the "Firefly is Rainbow's mother" camp. Her father I envision as a most handsome pegasus stallion with a beautiful flowing rainbow mane, so Firefly was all like "Hot damn, I'd tap that." ...and then she did.
The other I haven't quite formed any personal fanon about, but I don't think Fluttershy's mom is Posey, since she had never been to the ground before she got her cutie mark. |

Scootaloo I envision her as a streetwise orphan who lost her parents while they were trying to manage a storm that came off the Everfree.
Rainbow Dash, I see her parents as nobility but because of how stuffy they are she doesn't really keep in touch with them. |

Scootaloo: Orphan, often taken care of by Cheerilee. Probably moves from family to family. The neighborhood is her family, so to speak. Meshes with her streetwise personality. She has to raise herself. Rainbow Dash is the closest thing to family she has, if only because she aspires to be just like her.
Fluttershy: Comes from horribly abusive family. Dad's a drunk, mom's an addict and a whore. Opted to not return home after discovering the ground during the pegasus race. Would explain why her parents never tried to look for her. Her job is something of a mystery; Taking care of animals probably doesn't pay the bills. Either way, after leaving home she had to fend for herself. Dash: Typical "Army brat". Both parents are navy/air force. Doesn't want to pursue that lifestyle, but tries to live up to their accomplishments in a similar manner. Dash still keeps in touch, but her relationship with her parents is lukewarm at best for whatever reason. |

Rainbow Dash: Mother is Firefly. Father was killed by a mugger when Firefly was still pregnant, though he managed to kill the mugger as he died. Firefly was lost when Dash was five or six, protecting Cloudsdale from the infamous Category-5 Hurricane Epona. She was pronounced "Missing - Presumed Dead" (her body was never found). With no other living relatives in the area, Dash deliberately slipped through the cracks to avoid social services and raised herself.
Fluttershy: Dad (an Earth Pony) ran out before she was born. Her mother is a kind-hearted, sweet-natured, loving yet strong-willed mare who is beyond proud of her little Flutters. Fluttershy's shyness is simply a combination of natural personality traits and childhood bullying trauma; no actual abuse involved. Scootaloo: An orphan whose parents dropped her off at an orphanage in another town when she was 3 or 4, and were found dead soon after. When she was 6 she ran away and made her way to Ponyville, where she now works tirelessly to fool everyone and hide her orphan-ness and homelessness, for fear that being discovered might lead to her being taken away from her friends and back to the cold hellhole of a place she ran away from. Trying to work up the courage to confess to Dash and ask if she could maybe find Scoots a solid place to live (thinks - incorrectly - that Dash wouldn't want to take her in herself in this situation). |
