It just seems like the whole fandom is throwing a tantrum over what really is nothing. It's a cartoon. It's not like the animators care for background continuity. |

Also I saw no one really throwing a Tantrum from where I stood. It was more of how should general fanon deal with Sparkler etc. but like i said above BG characters are up for anyone's personal interpretation. The Canon characters in most sense aren't |

If you like that idea, fine. I prefer to think that Sparkler is a neighbor or relative who acts as a surrogate sister, but if you'd rather her be another child of Derpy's, a half-sister to Dinky, or something else, that's perfectly okay. There were a lot of different ideas existing side by side before, so I don't see why we can't have differing interperetations now. |

There's still fanon, as you might have noticed. But, true to chaos theory*, the introduction of a foreign element caused a disturbance amongst the community.
Yeah, a lot of us are kicking up a fuss over things like this, but we'll get over it, probably. *may not actually be part of chaos theory |

Let me put it like this...
I like fanart about different interpretations. I love fanart about different interpretations! I love Ditzy with a daughter. I love Ditzy WITHOUT a daughter. I love an universe where she is a smart pony but I enjoy it greatly when she is an idiot with a loveable streak. I love universes where Ditzy doesn't exist. I love ponies with a Hasbro name. I love ponies with a fan name. I love universes where Sparkler was adopted and I like it where Dinky is her blood sister. When I see an out of left field explanation of why they were in the race, my heart leaps with joy. An artist using a name for a pony that nobody used before is an irresistible pleasure. ..However, I'd prefer if people put their creative energies into drawing other characters who are overlooked every time there is a fight. More Noteworthy (now that he has a meaningful name), Noi (now that she's the sister of a major bg pony) and so on. |
