This was actually what I figured. If they'd let unrelated Applejack go with Sweetie Belle then why not a Big Sister deal for Sparkler and Dinky? Maybe Mom at to work? Same with Berry and her kid. If an only child wanted to compete with her mom, I'm sure they wouldn't say no. |

Y'all do realize it was called the SISTERhooves social. If we accept that Derpy is Dinky's MOM, instead of sister, then yea it makes perfect sense as to why Derpy wasn't there.

Yep, this is almost what i was thinking, except it was more that Sparkler is a friend of Ditzy, and as Ditzy was in the crowd she wasn't running because her eye condition was Very bad that day, she could barley see in front of her let alone run |

While I think bitching about canon vs. fanon is dumb, how does Dinky having a sister actually go against the "Derpy is Dinky's mom" thing?
Assuming that's even the purple unicron that everyone is calling Dinky not just some other purple unicorn because there are a lot of purple unicorns. |

This is just someone adding a touch of denial to another persons otherwise good picture. Anyone can add words to a picture, but apparently not everyone actually cares about trying something new. If you want to make Derpy into Dinky's mother then don't try to fit it into canon. Derpy's around Rainbow Dash's age in non-flashbacks. |

I just feel this workaround concept shouldn't taint Derpy/Dinky. Disregard the canon where it improve the concept, don't do annoying workarounds. You just make things worse that way. People still enjoy things that disregard very significant aspects of canon, but that's partially because they make no effort to make up more complex explanations about how it's possible that they do fit well with canon. |

Ditzy is adopted, Sparkler and Dinky are biological sisters, they all have the same parents.
That would explain why Ditzy was there. To cheer her sisters on. |
