Nobody said she did, she has a very distinct New England accent like Audrey Hepburn. And just because her parents have different accents doesn't mean she's faking hers; accents are acquired from the the area you were raised in, not by heredity. |

In US entertainment media, the upper crust is caricatured to affect that plummy accent. Rarity seems to want to be like them, and to be liked by them. That makes a lot of sense in her line of work. It's the wealthy who would buy her dresses. |

^ only the northern parts of the midwest (dakotas, wisconsin, chicago?) sound like that.
Applejack's accent is waaaay more common in the American Midwest, while most of the midwest sounds like Walter Cronkite or that accent Colbert is faking. |
