Consider the next: dinky is derpy daugther, rite? Ok, how about this, Dinky is the teorical daugther of Dr hooves and Derpy, and the other one is the Good Dr. niece, susan foreman [susan foremare in this case], so is not Dinky sister, is her step-sister

After all to be ssiters you do not have to have BOTH parents in common, just one.
So Dinky could still be Derpy's Daughter, but her sister share only their father, and has a different mother. This is likely since she has different color and is an unicorn. |

Seriously. Only the CMC, Snips and Snails, Tiara and Spoon, Twist, and Pip are the only fillies and colts that actually have identities. For all we know, Derpy could have been taking care of seven Dinkys throughout the week while the real one is still at Sugarcube Corner! That is a scary thought right there. |

Personally I don't see them as mother/daughter combo. Problem is that so many adorable picture and stories come from that combo that I just can't kill that concept off so I've learned to accept it. Kind of like how Rainbow Dash is a lesbian when she really isn't.
If you want a quick reason for why Sparkler was in the race with Dinky, just say that Sparkler is part of a Big Sister program and Derpy signed Dinky up for it since she has to stay at home alone all the time and doesn't have any friends because they make fun of her mom. She obviously can't race with her mom so she is racing with her "Big Sister" Sparkler |

from the episode I am watching (masterlinkx) Call of the Cutie, she appears:
At 15:50 talking to Derpy's friend Showers, and she has a bow and arrow cutie mark, At 17:12 with a cloud cutie mark, At 17:18 with a bow and arrow cutie mark, At 18:25 with her flank behind a table, At 18:37 with her front half in screen on the right, At 19:00 on the stairs, but it's just her head, At 19:30 see above, At 19:55 everything but her face is seen, with a horseshoe cutie mark, At 20:06 it zooms in, and has a dolphin cutie mark, At 20:20 seen dancing, At 20:56 during the first spinny thing, she has a blank flank, and you better be quick with your mouse to get her. |
