It's not the end.
Derpy was far too busy being a mailmare, and she has no other daughters. Dinky was depressed. Derpy also saddened since she can't do anything for her. Cue a replacement who agrees to take her place. Fanon stands. |

Ah, there's really nothing wrong with the fannon. Derpy is dinky's mother. The only thing this changes in the fandom is that ether Derpy has 2 daughters ether by by birth or adoption, or Derpy asked a friend to take Dinky to the event. Also, She might be apart of the Big sister/Big brother program. |

People need to remember that the incidental ponies are more like character models than actual characters, so there is no real canon with them. They don't put that much thought into which character model goes where, and anyone at the Sisterhooves could easily be shown with different family relations in the future.
In fact, that's already happened with Berry Punch. She's shown as a mother in Bridle Gossip, but a mother usually wouldn't leave her daughter for a day just to bond with a different family member. |

True yes there's no canon statement saying Dinky is Derpy/Ditzy's daughter, but there's no canon statement that She Isn't, just that there is a pony that is either biologically related to Dinky or close enough to be regarded as such. Yes should there be canon evidence that DInky has no relation to Derpy, it would results in a huge shit storm in the fandom since it justifies and adds more dimension to Derpy's fanon. Considering Derpy's exposure increased from fanon interest (including her Derp eyes), who's to say Fanon can't eventually be canon? (depending on fanon of course) and Dinky being Derpy's muffin is something you can't take away from us...ever. |

In my headcanon, Dinky was adopted by Ditzy as a newborn after her biological parents were killed and she was separated from her older sister, Sparkler. After all these years, Dinky is reunited with Sparkler and they both live with Dinky's foster mother Ditzy.
Also, Dinky isn't her birth name... I'll leave that up to you guys. |

I for one could not stand the fanon crazed obsession with making "Dinky" Derpy's daughter. They've never even been together in any episode, even in the background.
At least with some ponies I've seen, like Bon Bon and Lyra, they've at least had screen time together. It's quite stupid how much of a fuss is being made out of something so small as one little unicorn that was first seen bouncing in a song. I much prefer her not having any part with Derpy. |
