I don't speak french, but if it is anything like spanish I would figure "pomme de terre" to mean something like "apple of the earth". Somewhat poetic if you ask me. |

@624 you have no idea how funny the idea of "pomme de terre" being poetic is to a native french speaker.
they are also comonly called "patate" even though that should technically only apply to sweet potatoes but no one (especially here in Quebec) gives a damn |

yeah, easilly, it means potato and that's it. potato is one of the most random words out there, it's like, derpnes's flag veggie (as shown in the above picture) potatoes are alot of things but poetic just isnt one. And since I've grown up with pomme de terre, making it normal for me, I just cant see it |
