5. PROFIT! |
| Dachimotsu #632197 8 months ago |
More like 10 years, but why should Scootaloo care? |
| Scootsmod #632203 8 months ago |
Love knows no barriers! |
| Capt-Nemo #632209 8 months ago |
It's actually more like 2 years in real horse aging time, but eh, who cares? |
| Anonymous #632232 8 months ago |
^ Given that these are magical, intelligent ponies, I'd imagine their life spans are closer to ours. |
| Dachimotsu #632233 8 months ago |
@Capt-Nemo: We were told that they age like humans in the show. They even said that the Mane Six's age group is 17-18. |
| Capt-Nemo #632238 8 months ago |
@Dach: Really? Source? |
| Dachimotsu #632265 8 months ago |
@Capt-Nemo: If Faust said it, you can probably find by searching the "word_of_faust" tag or something. If not, you may need to dig through EqD's interviews. |
| Anonymous #632275 8 months ago |
I think that was just for maturity level, not actual ages. |
| Jackarunda #632293 8 months ago |
Lauren Faust said their lifespans are close to IRL horses. |
| Anonymous #632313 8 months ago |
@ Jackarunda:
I remember Faust commenting that the ponies mature more quickly physically than humans, but did she really say that their actual lifespans are close to real horses? If so, that means our little ponies will live 25-30 years. Doesn't seem quite right. |
| PowerToole #632325 8 months ago |
No one will mention the fact that they're both girls?
Age is not the issue we should be focusing on here. |
| Anonymous #632334 8 months ago |
I swear to god I thought it said get cum. |
| Doctor_Whooves #632347 8 months ago |
@#632325: No, because this isn't 1950. Stop acting like it is. |
| cthulhlu #632465 8 months ago |
i was exactly the same when i was her age, but slightly more stalkerish. |
| Drasvin #632470 8 months ago |
@anon 313 The ponies mature physically more quickly, which means the rest of their aging should be faster than humans unless they have the magic to slow it down. Though even if they don't, it's reasonable to assume that the ponies will live longer than real life horses. In real life, most medical research goes towards treating human ailments and problems, while in Equestria, most medical research will go towards treating equine ailments. So to figure out how long a pony's life span is, we have to figure out how old do they have to be before magic is unable to support their failing bodies. Then again, the show creators don't really care about physical age as they focus on mental age. |

I like to believe that ponies cannot die. |
| MetalHooves #632762 8 months ago |
Oh god, time for some MH headcanon. Okay, so here we go.
The following assumptions are based entirely on behavior and the idea that ponies, deities notwithstanding, age the same as humans. Dashie is about middle age range for the mane six, coming in at about 19. She maintains a stable job and has her own place, but displays childish laziness and insensitivity at times. For a comparison, Pinkie would be the youngest at about 16-17; she doesn't live alone, she works part time at a bakery, and displays heavy childish immaturity, lack of manners, and high energy. Rarity would be the oldest at about 24-26; she not only runs her own business but is an accomplished designer, shows heavy independence, ostensibly cares for her younger sister, organizes spa dates with Fluttershy, and has a canon fascination with/post-pubescent awareness of boys. [my chart goes Pinkie(16), Fluttershy(18), Dash(19), Twi(21), AJ(23), Rarity(25)] So, assuming Scoots is about 9, Dash is about 10 years older. |
| CogWeaver #632772 8 months ago |
^And I like to believe that all the above commenters actually have brains, but we both just have to live with the facts. |
| Iamunicorn #632893 8 months ago |
Ponies don't have life spans. They're like Twinkies. All that sugar preserves them indefinitely. They're just not as awesome after the use by date. |
| Anonymous #632896 8 months ago |
Their cartoon characters, they can never die, they will always be in our hearts and imagination.
//unless the creator wanted to kill them for a good reason. |
| PowerToole #632921 8 months ago |
Woh, Doctor Whooves, I'm all for gay rights. Don't get me wrong.
I was just wondering if the laws on Equestria allow same-sex relationships. |
| Anonymous #632936 8 months ago |
Iamunicorn has clearly never eaten a rotten Twinkie.
It's the worst taste I have ever tasted. Imagine chugging half a gallon of rotten milk with a tonic water chaser, then snorting smelling salts. |
| Doctor_Whooves #632942 8 months ago |
The show would never get into that, I'd think. There's really no reason for them to feature any kind of romance at all on the show, hetero or otherwise. Celestia seems like a progressive ruler, though, and Equestria is an idealized world. It seems likely they'd have greater equality there than we've yet accomplished.
All the femmeslash is just inevitable (particularly) when you have a fandom filled with so many adult males. But really, there aren't many males Scoot's age for her to have a crush on. Snips or Snails? Somehow I don't think she'd be interested in either of them, lol. I guess there's Pipsqueak now, too. |
| hernycwo #632950 8 months ago |
The word of Faust was not that they have human lifespans. >>1921 There was a previous one that I can't easily find that said that the real reason they are less emotionally mature is because the characters needed to be relatable to small children but she didn't want to do stories about parents and school, and she justified internally their emotional immaturity with the fact that horses are pretty much adults at 2*. So you should just accept that compromise and not overthink it.
*Horses are actually not fully grown until 5-6, but whatever. |
| hernycwo #632957 8 months ago |
Wait NVM, I found the other post I was talking about >>4861 |
| PowerToole #633235 8 months ago |
Yes Doctor Whooves, Pipsqueak is now in the picture and he will be molested by all the female ponies regardless of age, race or social status. They just won't be able to keep their hooves away from him.
Why? The answer is simple: He has an accent. Take it from a guy with an accent. |
| dzamie #633658 8 months ago |
^Everyone has an accent. Even Americans. People in the south will tell you that people up north have a strange accent, and vice versa. |
| Anonymous #635159 8 months ago |
20 years? More like 4 years. |
| PowerToole #636703 8 months ago |
True. Everybody has an accent, but I was talking about a foreign accent. That's the kind of accent you want. |
