Princess Celestia= Alicorn = non-coporeal (possibly immortal) being with the form of pony-like being.
Granny Smith = mortal earth pony Lauren Faust has inferred before that the ponies in the show live around the same length of time as ponies on earth, which is give or take a year or two, about 30 years. My guess Granny Smith is about 27-29 years old. |

also taking into account that a pony years cycle is about 1/3 ratio so that mean celestia is in fact in human term just over 300 years old ,if we follow the logic |

^But Cyanfunk is right. I never thought about it before, but they do vomit, which is something the horses from our reality cannot do; so who knows in how many other ways they differ from the horses we know.
Oh, also they can talk, build, create art, they've developed many industries and have an economic system. |

The ponies might age at the same rate as real-life horses, but they also have advanced medicine and magic. Most real-life medical research goes towards treating human ailments and problems. In the MLP-verse, most medical research will go towards treating equine ailments and problems. So for the ponies, the 30-ish year mark would be like the 60-ish year mark for us. Or something like that. Number probably aren't correct, but the concept is there.

↑ Lauren did not explicitly say that they live as long as real-world horses, by the way. "They grow up fast, but mature slower". So she does not explicitly say that they can only live for some 30 human years. Really, in a world of magic that is Equestria, there is no reason that even an ordinary pony could live pretty damn long. |

@Trombe True, though she said they grow up at the rate Horses do. So until we get information otherwise, it would be best to assume the rest of their physical aging is like that of horses. And as seen with Granny Smith (and the Mayor to an extent) the ponies do grow old and their bodies start to fail. It is a world of magic, so their lifespan are probably going to be rather long. So to question of how long a pony lives becomes how old can a pony be before magic is unable to adequately sustain them and fix the ravages of time. To figure that out, we first need to know when will a ponies body begin to break down due to old age. |

Guys, two things:
- Lauren only made a comment about ponies maturing at horse rates possibly (non-official comment!) Check this: http://horses.about.com/od/understandinghorses/a/Comparing-Horse-To-Human-Age.htm For example, horses grow up fast (humans have way longer childhoods compared to total life span). So if a pony was a human, she'd probably be a teen already at say, age 10. Stuff like this. - Ponies and minis live much longer than regular horses. Look it up. Actually, it's wise to search for "pony" instead of "horse" for most topics, because there can be big differences. |
