@#628468: But that doesn't answer the question.

>>79861 Shows how these new toys aren't actually the BG characters of the show. They are very similar looking, but they have differences in their coat, mane and eye colors and the cutie marks are also slightly different. In Berry Punch's case it's most certainly not her since due to not being an earth pony. In the case of Heartstrings the cutie mark is the same as Lyra's but that doesn't matter since we already know there are a number of other background ponies with the same Lyra cutiemark.

Keep it tagged "Lyra", "Beery_punch", yadda yadda.
That's what we call 'em, and that's not gonna change.

628468 How the the fuck does that not answer the question? it basically says tag them with any names attributed to them!

@#628478: If the earlier blind bag toys are supposed to be the same characters from the show, then so are Golden Harvest and Heartstrings.

Golden Harvest's cutie mark is a little different, but so is Cheerilee's.
Heartstrings' colors are a little different, but so are Daisy/Flower Wishes'.

Hasbro has already shown that they don't care that much about the toy lines accuracy so chances are the blind bags are supposed to represent prominent background ponies.

^All the more reason why toy canon and show canon are two separate universes. We got with whats most consistant and these toys are enough differences to be considered separate characters from what is in the show.

@#628505: That picture doesn't say anything about tagging. Thanks for the clarification.

The problem is, people are removing the new official names from images' tags (and only the new official names Golden Harvest and Heartstrings—they don't seem to be interested in removing the older official names Flower Wishes, Lemon Hearts, or Roseluck).

Answer to the question: there is almost no limit for the amount of tags so... only your lazyness can prevent you from using all the possible names/tags.

In short: yes, please, use all of them.

^^ Unsupported assumptions? Heartstings:
>unicorn
>same cutie mark
>same basic color scheme

I'm guessing if even one color was slightly off on these toys were exact representations of the characters you fanon bumblefucks would still be decrying that your completely made up fantasy world was canon.

And before anyone goes, they have different cutie marks blah blah! I don't need to study every molecule of some Chinese manufactured toy to prove my point, which is the toys are close enough to be canon, i.e. walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, is a duck unless it's a goose fuck those guys.

When you decide the identity of someone, you don't just say "oh they look basically the same" and consider them the same. You have to consider the differences. Given the visual differences that are noticeable and all the other toy canon crap that we reject and the fact they are still unnamed in the show, it is safe enough to consider them separate characters.

Yeah, but we're not dealing with people are we? we're dealing with characters, DRAWN characters if I showed you an abstract painting of a human, and told you it was supposed to represent a human you wouldn't go "that's not a human cause it doesn't look exactly like a human should, therefore I shall call it goobleflix!" no you would take that since it still has basic humanoid form it's a painting of a human.

Alright, at this point I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing, I will concede the point that both names are equally valid for the character.

Isn't there an option to link multiple tags together on a 'booru so that they all reset to the same tag and images where you use one are auto-tagged for the rest? Danbooru uses it all the time.

@628569

Thats an invalid comparison, this is personal identity, not species we are talking about here. We reject toy canon ALL THE TIME when it comes to other things they have done, this is no different, untill the character in the show is verbally addressed with a name, the differences in the toy is enough to consider it a separate character. I'm not saying this because I hate the name Heartstrings or anything, its a decent name, but visually speaking we shouldn't be just applying it to the character of the show due to the differences.

Tags should include all applicable names.

However, the toys and the TV show are different continuities, and so Heartstrings is not actually the same pony as Lyra. Tag images of the pony from the show as Lyra and not as Heartstrings, and tag images of the toy as Heartstrings and not as Lyra.

I'm sure everyone will enjoy "Derpy_Hooves" and "Ditzy_Doo" taking up two spots in the popular tags spots.

If its Heartstrings I think you should label Heartstrings as Lyra, but Lyra should not have the Heartstrings tag attached to her on fan art and stuff because that's the generally accepted name.

You guys realize Hasbro is trolling us, right?

One thing edgewise... Last time this happened was with "Lilo and Stitch." Fans made their own monsters with different numbers, and they got mad when Disney used the numbers they picked for the new monsters in the TV series they made.

If this was a site dedicated to fanfics, then this discussion would have more merit. As it stands, there are dramatic visual differences between "Lyra" and "Heartstrings". So, if the picture is of the pony from the show, she's Lyra. If it's the recolored Twilight version ... it's heartstrings. There are enough visual differences for this to be easy.

In short ... I'm in the "different characters/continuity" camp.

I should think toga's point is obvious, but apparently a lot of people disagree??
