Though to ^, ninja'd but still functionally accurate, these aren't the same ponies so it's not all that relevant.
The Berry one is especially glaring. Heartstrings is just the red-eyed Lyra look-alike from the stampede sequence. |

OR you could admit that it does not matter, and that fanon and canon are inherently different anyway. The gentleman posting the picture is correct. I see the issue more with stuck up people insisting about changing their fanon and tags. Will you go to every fanfic writer's pages too, insisting that they update the names? Just leave it be. |

Honestly, can't agree more on that. @sploich @627583 Yeah well... Hasbro's canon is kind of weird to me. Pink Celestia, missing Luna (she didn't exist for a half of a year since the show and new toyline started), Berry The Unicorn... c'mon, it is not even funny. Besides, despite the fact that the show creators must use new names in case they will decide to mention Lyra's or BonBon name in the show - it didn't happen yet thus hardly is a real canon. For me, the world of toys always was something separate when it comes to show's references. But I, for one, have no issues that Lyra another name. Many BG ponies even had up to 4 different names and everything was fine, even when people used the rare one. |

Oh wow, I see what the MLP wiki did there. Yeah, that's pretty rage-inducing. At least the older names still redirect to the "official" names, at least for now. |

Also, forgot to add: when ep02 aired there was similar drama about Screwball name. Some people want to name her as Topsy Turvy, some named as Screwball. In the end, we got 3 different names (Cherry melody is the rare one) and everyone were happy, using those they want (while Screwball is the most popular). In this case it will end up pretty much like that, I believe. Well... until their names will be actually mentioned in the show of course. |

The toys aren't really canon anyways. If they were Berry Punch/Berryshine would be a unicorn, Celestia would be bright pink and AJ would drive a truck. |

@sploich: No, what's seen in the show is canon. Unless you think Celestia is pink, and Luna is the same size as the mane six, and Rainbow Dash has a pet squirrel, and "pony pulls the wagon," and Pinkie Pie is a baby who needs your help to walk, etc. No hatred for Hasbro, but the show is canon, the toys are toys. |

The way I look at it, it's Hasbro's product so they can do whatever they want with it.
