Berryshine is a perfectly fine name...
Golden Harvest requires some form of shortening. We don't always call Pinkie "Pinkamena Diane Pie" after all. Sometimes we don't even add in the Pie after "Pinkie". |

Solution: Accept the names and get over yourself. They are somebody else's property and they can do whatever the hay they want with them. After all they've done for the fan base you could at least give them that much. |

I accept the names completely. They're just the definition of HasbrOC - a character who receives a toy and a name before appearing on camera.
Wrong manes, wrong cutie marks, wrong eye colors, wrong species in one case. They're new ponies. I'd just like everybody to stop being wrong. |

Solution II: COMPROMISE and try our best to integrate the new canon into the preexisting fanon, which is what most of us have already done.
Besides, there have been other times where show name and toy name don't match up (Daisy/Flowerwishes). Show name takes precedence over toys. And according to the show, none of these characters have names. If they do, the preexisting fanon names are just as likely as the new canon. It's not officially official until the show itself adopts the name, and we'll cross that bridge when/if we come to it. And dude, Hasbro toy division hasn't done shit for the fans of the show, and you can't expect them to b/c their job is to cater to 6 year old girls, which they do very well. All the love has come from Hasbro media (which doesn't talk to the toy side much), Studio B, and The Hub. |

I don't think the toymakers have any concept of what goes on in the show. The toys have nothing to do with FiM canon or fanon, so they should just be ignored. |

Clarifying my above comment...
The writers obviously don't read fanfic (anyone who thinks they do is an idiot; they'd lose their jobs if they did). It's iffy if they even look at fanart or fanvids, both of which are covered in fanon (names and otherwise). But FIM's showrunner, directors, storyboard artists, and animators—i.e. everyone but the writers (and actors, obviously)—definitely DO check out all the stuff we create, except probably the fanfics, and have used fanon names during talks multiple times. |

Even the people making the show call Carrot Top Carrot Top. Now there's a line of toys and you go crazy? I really dislike people like #627448's attitude too. Yes, a show is someone's property, but it's YOUR property to decide what you watch or like, so this "just bend over and take it" rage stinks. If you wanna update fanon, do it, but you can do it calmly and politely without being all high and mighty. |

Hasbro owns the characters. What they say is canon is canon. That's the only way to look at this.

"Lyra Heartstrings" is growing on me. Lyra and Bonbon always tug at my heartstrings anyway.
"Berryshine" is some fucking cosmic shit. Toy namers know even less about the fanon than the show crew, and yet they give us a name that is a portmanteau of the fanon name and a word for homemade booze. It's beautiful. The only thing that could make it better is if the toy was the same type of pony as the show character, lol. |

Carrot Top is a horrible name because it's already in use by an obnoxious comedian. I prefer pretty much all of the official names, because almost all of them are more creative than the fanon ones. I even prefer the name "Ditzy Do" over "Derpy Hooves." Derpy Hooves is just the name of a meme with the word "hooves" attached, and it's also a South Park reference which would make no sense in the world of Equestria. |
