Actually no, Scoots did say that to Rainbow. And the fic pretty much WAS done OCs except for Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash. :3c My only problem with it was that the 'torture' conisted of a few chains twisting ponies around a bit before dropping them in a meat grinder. I was honestly expecting Cupcakes levels of agony when I heard about this one, and I was dissapoint. B3c |

I'm fairly certain that Rainbow Factory wasn't meant to be a straight-up gore fic, in the same sense that Cupcakes was. The fear factor in Rainbow Factory comes more from their situation and their desperate effort to escape it, than from the actual violence. |

I don't mind the characters being put into horror situations. I mind the characters being used as OCs. Cupcakes "worked" because it was semi believable that pinkie would "snap" based on Party of One. It failed because it was written as torture porn instead of a serious story. Rainbow Factory "worked" because it actually told a story in the vein of Soylent Green or Brazil. It failed due to the roles it assigned the cannon characters were contrived and not believable. Rainbow factory was just another weak take (fic) on a cool source (song). Kind of like that crappy ScootaPie clopfic based on Trees' askblog. |
