I've always been partial to "Berry Pinch". It fits her, being a little foal of Berry Punch's.

I'm not sure where "Ruby Pinch" came from, anyhow...?

Isn't "Ruby Pinch" only canon for that Ask Tumblr?

^I remember it first on not-Skoon's Ask Berry Punch Tumblr, but I'm not sure if it originated there.

It's "Pinch" because it sounds like a cute diminuitive, appropriate for a young pony.

Pony names in general don't follow a single naming convention, apart from "sounding cute or kinda punny".

Surnames have no rules. See: the Apple clan.

Yeah, I don't think the ponies actually have surnames, they just pick a theme, and stick with it.

I think she's called Ruby Pinch because of her cutie mark.

@Littlecabbit: Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie seem to have surnames...I think Princess Celestia called Twilight's parents "Mr. and Mrs. Sparkle", and Pinkie's parents definitely called her "Pinkemena Diane Pie", which would fit the "parents call you by your full name when you're REALLY in trouble" thing.

Ruby Pinch definitely came before that Tumblr. It is, in fact, what I've always called her because I saw that name before any others.

If this is the anon who's trying to decide on the 'definitive' names so he can tag them 'properly': stop it.
