because everything that comes from Hasbro that's not a result of the FiM team is a Mary Sue

Jack, they have no personalities aside from one random trait. They can't be Mary Sue's, and even if they are that doesn't mean anything.

Because they have almost no exposure to the fan base most of the time, people usually will assume them to be OCs to begin with unless noted otherwise. At least background ponies and the like can be recognized by simply watching the show, HasbrOCs cannot hence the terminology.

It doesn't matter what people think. It's their fault for not being up-to-date with the toy line.

"HasbrOC" isn't a suitable term.

Really, Anon? Then what do you propose in stead?

^If the toy in question hasn't shown up as a random BG pony in the show than it is perfectly suitable term. The toy line also contains too many differences which are not part of the FiM TV universe such as cars and other crap as well. Toy-verse is its own thing. The mane 6 and lots of other stuff could be fucntionally the same in it, but there are too many other differences for it to be considered on the same level.

I think its a clever term that just stands for ponies made by Hasbro with nothing to do with the FIM crew

^Precisely. It's more of informal nickname that pokes at the fact that they're lazy re-colors.

One could argue semantics, language, meaning of words, etc. all day. There's no real point in it other than pointing out how crazy language can get.

They're still canon though, and not OCs.

Also only the toy models and artwork are recolors. Ponies always only have a few models.

Sorry, I guess Mary Sue isn't the right word.

The right would would be "stupid."

If we're trying to come up with a replacement for the "HasbrOC" tag, don't forget that they're not all from the toys (and they're not all recolors, either).

OC means Original Character.

OC and Canon are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
