Sgt.Sprinkles apparently forgot to Ctrl+R his placeholder when writing bad OC fanfic, and though he left it in the title this fuckup left some idiots thinking it was about Pinkie. Then, apparently hoping to ride that bandwagon to the gutter, CrookedTrees adapted it into his own "Pinkamina" OC. There's no Pinkie to be found here. Full stop. None. Just a version of her overall look. "Original" character. This identification problem seems to plaguing Tumblr these days. |

Although I don't necessarily agree with your sentiment, I appreciate the argument that grimdark tumblrs are bad if they make no effort to meaningfully connect their characters to those from the show.
I think this tumblr is an exception to that argument, however, because it's basically inspired by Cupcakes. crookedtrees' Pinkie doesn't really resemble Pinkie from the show, but it's not a huge leap at all from Cupcakes Pinkie to this Pinkie. To my awareness, this is also one of the first grimdark tumblrs, if not the first, so it most definitely is original. |

Cupcakes (Sprinkles' self-titled OC story) is exactly what you refer to as a problem in Tumblrs. ZERO connection to the character.
I'll at least give this Tumblr marks for a better story than Cupcakes had. Also, Takashi, a very thorough argument. You sure told him. I think you should stop depriving 4chan of your razor wit. |

Honestly, I beg to differ about Cupcakes Pinkie being out of character. She's eccentric, energetic, operates on an internal logic that escapes those around her, finds humor in situations that others find dismal, has a penchant for cheesy puns, and displays a sense of creativity and enthusiasm in her...*ahem* craft. To me, she seemed very much like what Pinkie Pie would be if she were a homicidal sociopath.
But I digress. Whether she was out of character and whether Cupcakes has any legitimate value as a work of fiction is ultimately irrelevant. What's important is that, love it or hate it, Cupcakes is a widely recognized meme in the fandom. It means something to the fandom, and that makes it fair game for parody, imitation, and spin-offs. |

Cupcakes was a decent first effort in horrifying people by turning one of the characters into a crazy version of itself, along the lines of Pooh Goes Apeshit. It wasn't that great, but it was good for a laugh.
The problem is that it's been latched onto by a whole lot of emo dipshits who think they're in any way unique and clever when they join the grimdark bandwagon. |

What is that you suggest I'm not getting? That Pinkie Pie isn't really an ax-murderer? I regard that as a creative liberty necessary for the purpose of the story.
If that's the biggest qualm you have with Cupcakes, that Pinkie Pie remains in character on all other counts, then I consider that a huge success. |

Oh no, the writing is god-awful, there's a complete lack of tension or any real conflict, the pacing is flat...it's not technically a story. If you took out the in-between fluff and just made it a list of the terrible things that happen, you wouldn't lose any of the impact.
And really. "Well, the only thing off in this fic is Twilight is completely illiterate. Otherwise, it's perfect!" That's just asinine on its face. |

Please, Anon. Stop wasting your time. You are not some sort of an Internet crusader in shining armour, vanquishing the dark forces of depravity and corruption with a mighty blade of righteousness; you are not going to win anything here. "Evil Pinkamina" is a meme, and is a rock-solid one by now; it is something that is here to stay (FOR-EVER!!). Indeed, she has practically nothing to do with the original character, being merely derived from the real Pinkamina, and indeed this one is based on an earlier alternative Pinkie, thus being practically twice removed from the canon Pinkie. But the thing is, some people like to tickle their nerves with something scary and creepy every now and then, and Crookedtrees did the scary and creepy part fairly well in his Thumblr, not to mention the top notch art quality. I understand, you feel outraged that an innocent character from a children's cartoon got twisted like that, but we are not children anymore (well, maybe some of the people here are, I cannot speak for all). If you don't like it, don't stick around it; and if you can't resist saying something against it, at least don't sound like your opinion is the only one that is allowed to exist. You only make yourself look like a stuck up self-righteous prick. And you are not like that, now, are you, Anon? |
