often slang does not need to be correct to catch on. For example, the term flank is often misused.

But Slang is slang and it gets used and takes on it's own meaning. Language is an ever changing format and to try and halt that is an effort in futility.

Technically, inception is the act of planting an idea into a subject's subconscious. The fact that it has to be done three layers deep is completely irrelevant to the word itself.

Well, technically you can't plant the idea from less than 3 levels because otherwise the target will know the idea came from an outside source, so it does need to be 3 or more levels.
