We have not seen Zecora actually live in a house in Ponyville, and she may still live in the forest. THERE ARE NO YOUNG ZEBRAS FOR HER TO CARE FOR. She still lives by herself. There was no statement at any time that she couldn't do theatrical magic if she had time to prepare (did she make the powder herself, or buy it?). We haven't seen her celebrate her own holidays simply because we haven't seen much of her (she lives out of town, so she doesn't even appear in crowd scenes as a background character because she makes the trip only once a month). Sorry, not buying it. |

Second of all, Nightmare Moon was probably threatening the entire world--she could have easily moved the moon in front of the sun or something so no part of the planet would get any sunlight, ever. So, Nightmare probably became a legend across all nations, not just the pony-based ones. Heck, even if she only threatened ponies, it was probably still a big enough event that everyone heard of, including zebras. I won't even bother responding to anything else in this image. >_> |

Yeah, can't we consider her long-flowing mane a part of the costume and not her actual mane? I think someone is either trolling or jumping to conclusions. But let's look at some things;
1)After the Poison Joke incident, I think that many ponies would begin to see that Zecora isn't what she was made out to be before and have welcomed her more willingly. 2)Occult-based customs and lore may be a part of her knowledge and characteristics regardless of her being a zebra and an outsider/of a different homeland. 3)Your analysis would've been a lot more acceptable had you not ultimately defined Zecora with Black Historical figures, especially differing ones like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Obama, in an attempt to show radical differences between her first appearance and her second appearance. My knowledge is limited mind you, but whatever gets you through the night OP. |

well, full disclosure, there ARE other phisiological differences between races that are not just superficial. For instance, races from eastern asia tend to develop harder earwax that a Q-tip can't properly clean, which is why ear picks are a thing over there. different races have different tendencies to different health conditions, etc. there is nothing wrong with acknowledging those differences. it only becomes wrong when you begin to try to rationalize those differences to mean that one race is better than another. |

This is ridiculous. It was obvious that Zecora had only recently arrived in the season 1 episode, and was a complete mystery to the locals. Once they'd figured each other out a little, they were friendlier. How is this difficult to understand?
If Zecora decided to celebrate "Nightmare Night" she isn't giving up her own culture. She's just joining in on something that looks like fun to her. If Nightmare Night has as little cultural relevance in Equestria as Halloween in America, (pretty much zero. For the past 1,000 years, nobody believed Nightmare Moon existed, but they still celebrated every year.) then all it is, is a party that makes little children happy. Trivia for AdrianBrony: They were later given that choice. Immediately following the American Civil War, the US government purchased land in Africa and offered it with supplies and support to any freed slaves who wished to leave. It was called Liberia. Until Libya overthrew it much later, it was an ally to the US. Any freed slaves who remained, chose to do so. |

Here's something I don't get. I always thought that multiculturalism is what happens in major cities like NY: segregation of cultures and nationalities Chinatown, little Italy, etc. In these places you can find a lot of people that can't speak a word of English. Isn't this the Malcom X approach?
For me multiculturalism prevents the integration of immigrants into the society they are living in, resulting in cultural and social isolation (hence cities with multiple cultures - multiculturalism). If they want culture isolation, they should go back to their own country of origin. If not, they should integrate themselves into the society of the country they chose to live in, without forgetting their roots, ever. |
