a brony is a fan of the show who holds any interest in the fandom itself.

if you like fanart, you're a brony.

Some are so much into it, they try their best to turn it into a movement.

To me it's a fandom for FiM...Just a fandom.

It doesn't deserve all the attention it gets. Just because it's gender role breaking for many of the fans, people are so attracted to it.

It means I like FiM and nothing deeper than that.

To be entirely honest, bronies embody the "I simply do not give a damn so do what you want." Side of the internet, Which is why we can dub it as loving it and tolerating it.

Someone who likes the show as well as the other things that go with it.

So yeah, what the others are saying.

Just fandom, like every other fandoms around, nothing special.
Though I don't like the term "brony". I was around when it was coined, and it had (still has for me) a different meaning.

It's just a name to me. If I even bothered to take the names I could be associated with remotely seriously, I'd probably find that I can be labeled with so much stuff that I'd probably sound like a much more horrifying creature than I could ever be.

It's multiple things to me. First and foremost, it's someone who likes the show, but doesn't necessarily participate in or is even conscious of the fandom.

It's also a subculture. There's r/MyLittlePony, Equestria Daily, Ponibooru, FIMFiction, Ponychan, Fimchan, Pony Fiction Archives, and the various tumblrs. Just like any subculture, there are people who take it too far and do stupid shit or weird shit, and there are people who are just there to watch ponies and hang out.

It's a word that shouldn't be taken too literally or seriously, like "dumbass" or "gay" or "orgasm".

Just fandom. I like the show but will never buy any merchandise. I'll likely move on at some point and I'm pretty bored with life right now, so here's to some temporary entertainment.

Never cared for the term brony. When I heard the term brony, I think of a really creepy guy whose life is defined by My Little Pony and tries to relate everything to it. A guy who doesn't shut the fuck up about it at work and tries to convert random people.

I'm just an average guy that likes My Little Pony. It doesn't effect my social life beyond trying to avoid obligations on a Saturday before 9:00am. I don't talk about the show and try to "convert" people. I just watch the show and read a fanfic here and there for a quick read.

Those of us who are bronies are using a word that is made up of the words "pony" and "bro". The "pony" part is obviously rooted in enjoyment for the show. "Bro" on the other hand, at the very least defines a connection with the rest of the community. We are all comrades... bros on the internet... a fandom.

While being a movement is a bit much considering we are not united in too many ideals, there are still two such ideals we probably can all speak in favor of: that a show with an icon appealing to one gender can have elements that still appeal to the opposite gender, and that, in the end, growing up doesn't mean you mustn't enjoy what you used to as a kid.

Pretty much what I was gonna say.

"Brony" sounds like it carries negative connotations (even if it really doesn't), so I don't like that moniker attached to me.

"Fan of the show" will do nicely, thank you very much.

I believe that I am a part of a fandom. If there is, in fact, a movement, then I am happily unassociated with it.

Just a fandom.

People that like the show but aren't into any sort of fan-community or fan-works aren't bronies to me.

If it can include both Ask Fluttershy & Pinkie Pie's Mod and Weaver, the term is completely meaningless.

It's a fun name for a neat bunch of people who appreciate a good cartoon.

Also it rhymes with pony (Lol).

Well, at first it was "guys who like FiM". Around the start of August though, it shifted straight into "30-something year old with a bad combover, no job, and who masturbates regularly onto a insert-pony-here body pillow" as more and more of those types burst loudly from the woodwork. All the non-obsessed and well-adjusted folk are simply "FiM/MLP fans", if a description is needed.

i would say how great it is to be able to buy stuff for girls a third my age without getting odd looks, but i get waaaaay to excited over these things...
