Ugh. Here we go again. There is plenty of unregistered people here who are nice, polite, decent people who are not registered for some personal reason that is none of our business. They post on this site, contributing to the Ponibooru community whether with art, or with clever, informative and simply humorous comments; and these people are probably the majority of the anonymous users here. It is not their fault that there is also a bunch of scum that do not register because they hope their anonymity would allow them to remain unpunished for the annoyance and frustration that they cause. Restricting the free posting rights would be unfair towards that large group of good anonymous users. |

@Fuzzy_Logic: My argument of it's not hard to register applies both ways. It shouldn't be too upsetting if Anons couldn't upload, because it's so easy to register in the first place, but there really isn't any reason for us to think we're more special anyways just for putting a name and a password into the boxes. It doesn't even ask for a confirmation. |

Here's a secret: All bans are IP bans.
There's absolutely no difference between the enforcement options we have when dealing with registered users and when dealing with anonymous users. But we have a lot of unregistered users who contribute content here - nearly half the images were uploaded by "Anonymous" - and one of the most prolific ones has said explicitly that registration being optional is part of the reason he sticks around. I'm not dead-set against making changes to this paradigm. But I'd need a good reason. |

Not everyone is comfortable being identified as the one responsible for a particular comment or upload. Anonymous is a way to be free. Please do not remove a large degree of freedom just to stop the occasional trolling image. |

I haven't really been around here that long to really make a decision but I don't see what's wrong with having to make an account to post.
