No, I think he's insulting somebody's art style because it is completely unfitting and/or inappropriate for the characters. Those body and face structures were all the exact same and didn't fit the characters in the least in practically all of them.
The bottom set is infinitely better. |

^That's an opinion, and while I agree with you that the bottom set is more fitting to the actual characters, criticizing somebody's personal views and interpretations of how the mane six would look as humans is unfair, especially since there is no 'canon'.
And calling them downright ugly as some people are is cruel. |

Pretentious attempts at realism do not make good art, Spitfire~ Especially when the original material is cute cartoon ponies. And by Jove, those top pictures are ugly as sin. Only Rarity was spared; I guess she was protected by her natural aura of elegance that prevented that hack of an artist from man-facing her like the rest. |

Thick lips, small nose and big eyes are symbols of attractiveness. Huge anime eyes and a dot for a nose makes that kinda humanizations more appreciatable. |

Honestly, I kinda dig top RBD. She strikes me as being very Dash-y, though not to say the bottom one doesn't.
And I don't really think EITHER Pinkie is really Pinkie enough. The top one looks too old and the bottom one is too skinny with odd shadows below her brow. |

Well, the proportions of the faces are off in both bunches, but in the lower ones that has been disguised as "anime-style".
What's more, the shadings in the top ones make erveryone, except Rarity and maybe Fluttershy, very masculine. This can be seen very clearly in the cheekbones of AJ. AndRDlookslikeScoutwithboobs. I am in no way dissing the artist, but he/she should practise this semi-realistic comic-bookish style a bit more. |

agreed, the top images do not do the characters justice. and spit fire, to tell people to stop criticizing art renders the art useless.
art is meant to inspire others, be that good or bad. in this case the above images have inspired disdain and contempt and has thus served it's role as art. and to try and stop others from voicing there opinions on art is to do more damage to the world of art then the most withering of critiques. |
