I've been putting this off for a while. I want to make a custom Shine Bright Princess Luna that features BOTH horn and wings glowing. I was going to use a Rarity, but since they are all sold out, I wound up having to spend nearly 2-3 times as much for the Canterlot set with the Shine Bright Twilight Sparkle.
I decided to go for it, even if I damaged it, just to get and idea of HOW to tear it apart. What I've learned, is there is a LOT OF GLUE. A razor or x-acto is needed to split the visible seam down the middle of the body. The tail is press fit into a hole sitting sideways in one half of the shell. The battery case is fully self contained and has NO electronics, except a button. The button fits a square recess, and is not mounted to anything. 4 wires extend from the head. Red is Positive, Black is negative, and the two grey wires lead to the switch. There is a small yellow wire on the battery case that forms a serial interconnection between the left and right cell holder. ALL the electronics are in the head, and I've yet to figure out how to remove it. I may experiment with a heat gun, but I risk the outer plastic. I could consider attempting to paint or dye the head to match Luna's darker colors, but that becomes risky with the electronics inside. I have one more pic detailing the head and battery case/switch assembly. http://ponibooru.413chan.net/post/view/77913 Little known fact... This was the planned punishment that Celestia had considered for Twilight till her friends decided to take responsibility for her, at the end of Lesson Zero! Good thing they stopped Celestia! LOL |

I remember the days I tore up my toys out of curiosity.
Which is why I stick with Legos these days. |

Try acetone. I've used it on ponies before and it didn't hurt the plastic, but it got rid of the glue in a snap. |
