Summary: Anon finally has his first day at the so dreaded volcano high. But will it actually be as bad as he imagined it yesterday? [NOTES] Hello, and welcome once again to this (hopefully) everimproving fanfic! The deal is the usual: If you have any criticism or tipps for how i can improve this story as well as my writing style then please let me know in the comments. Anyways, cheers and enjoy this chapter [/NOTES] January sixth. Year 201M2020 BC. Volcareda Bluffs Weather conditions; cold as balls. Now that Anon thought about it, this was the first time he’d ever lived this close to water. The idea of a “marine layer” was new to him, although he did understand morning mist. The thick layer of fog that was making itself comfortable on the entirety of Volcareda Bluffs made navigating to his new personal hell especially difficult. As if it wasn’t hard enough already since he had no idea where to go and was completely relying on Doogle Maps to tell him where to go. Since the bus that he had picked out yesterday to take to school had canceled all drives on this lane today due to a construction site, Anon was forced to walk all the way to school. Perfect start to the new school year… As he was walking, the skinny human was mumbling to himself. “Six months left at my old school…can’t imagine what kind of hell those six months would have been…” He shook his head to get these thoughts out of his head for now, since he could already see the tall building through the mist wall. Trying his best not to stare as best as he could, he watched as dinosaurs of all sizes, colors and body types walked past him, and up towards the school. Anon eavesdropped on some of their conversations, but they were mostly just things like “Hey bro, how have you been” or “Yooo good to see you again”. As he finally reached the main staircase leading up to the two large doors , Anon looked up to read the name written on the arch over the entrance in bold letters VOLCANO HIGH He couldn’t help but laugh to himself. Perfect setting for a horror game…or maybe a shitty WAD. Anon grimaced as the attempt at humoring himself just made him feel even more alone. A check of his phone told him he was 30 minutes early. Wonderful… Moving up to the entrance, he finds all of the steps occupied by students. Their eyes turn to Anon. Expressions of confusion and contemplation. He could feel their judging stares…the same that had haunted him four months prior. They probably just saw him as some kind of circus attraction…something they could poke fun at as if he wasn’t insecure already. He hated every second of it. He wanted to just become invisible…why the hell couldn’t they just mind their own goddamn business?! “Staring at me as if I was the freakshow among this cereal box of a mascot crowd…” anon thought to himself as he tried his best to hide his growing discomfort. Trying to distract himself with his phone seemed to work, as the stares soon stopped…good. Now being able to properly peep at the different friend groups that seemed to have formed over the last few years of high school, he dismissed them “Not like I'll ever be a part of one of these anyway” He mumbled with furrowed eyebrows. . . . ?... Anon stopped dead in his tracks as something caught his attention. At the top of the stairs, a small pterosaur was talking to some of her friends. Talk about wanting to stand out, i never could’ve imagined in my wildest dreams that it was possible to look like the embodiment of some degenerate fucker’s coomer fantasy. Although he had to admit that she did stick out from the other technicolor students. In the worst way possible. Wait…she? No, that couldn’t be right. Despite their obviously feminine presenting clothing style, makeup and long hair, the pterosaur standing at the top of the staircase seemed to be male. Why the fuck would a dude wear black leather boots, tight ripped up jeans , a crop top and a choker?...God that sight was way too cursed. Anon immediately felt his body wanting to look away. But he didn’t get the chance, as he noticed the Dinosaur's staring back at him. Fucking hell…has that asshole never seen a human before?! It’s like he wants to end me with just his gaze. Anon hated that look…this mix of contempt and judgment. Everyone that has ever looked at me that way never proved to be anything more than an asshole. That stare clearly said “What kind of freak just walked into my field of view”. As if HE was the anomaly here. Whatever…guess he was just as insufferable as the rest of them. Anon broke eye contact with an eye-roller and a thought of ‘Just go back to your friends’. Looking again after a couple of seconds, Anon realized that…he actually did. The human suddenly got the feeling that he should say something and just now noticed that during this entire interaction, his knees had gone weak and his arms heavy. Before any other weird shit can happen, he just turns away and starts walking in the opposite direction, towards the side of the building. Finally turning around the corner, his eyes are met with a weird sight. A bunch of benches lined up by the wall of the School building, with a bunch of trees and plants sprouting out of different seedbeds. Maybe some kind of alcove? The air is filled with the smell of dirt and the floor is covered in cigarette butts. Raptor Jesus, does this school not have a janitor? Anon finds himself a bench with the least amount of cracked paint and slightly rotten wood and sits down on the still mildly wet bench. The loud cracking noise that followed made his heart sink all the way down into his shitty shoes. Sitting on the bench, being away from all of the ruckus by the front of the building, Anon started going through a reality check from hell. It just now hit him fully just how messy his situation was. Six whole months in a completely new school… An entire year on his own in some shitty rundown apartment in a city that couldn’t be more different from what he was used to and could work with. All of these things were raining down on him in less than three weeks. It took less than a day for him to feel the need to change schools, three weeks to finally get it to happen, and now? Now he was stuck in a completely unknown city for the next half of a year. Buried in his own thoughts, the young man didn’t see that two figures had approached him. An oddly familiar voice sounds in his ear “Would you happen to be Anon?” a friendly, nausea inducingly cheerful female voice was directed at him. Just as Anon moved his head to look up, the bench he was sitting on finally gave in. WHOMP With a loud thud, Anon landed in the wet grass ass first. He immediately felt a sharp pain shoot into his rear as he tried to recover from the shock. If he hadn’t worn jeans, the splintered wood of the bench would’ve dug into his legs. He spoke a silent thank to Raptor Jesus, and every god he could possibly think of. After a short moment, he finally managed to look up like he had originally planned. His face immediately went a little pale, as his gaze was met by two more of those damn meteor dodgers. One of them was wearing an incredibly cheap looking jacket, with a black undercoat. Anon never in a million years could have imagined how someone could make a Hawaiian style jacket look this ugly and out of place. His bright orange eyes seemed familiar, but Anon couldnt put his finger on it. The other dino however…that was when his face went from slightly pale, to completely white. He recognized that ugly ass pair of glasses…that blonde half-assed bowl cut…and especially that incredibly obnoxious voice. He had already met this girl yesterday while getting lunch! The girl seemed to have noticed that at the same time as he did, as she called out “Hey wait! I remember you! You were standing in line at McDino’s yesterday. Did you enjoy your meal?” Anon didn’t even bother to answer because his cringe level was rising with every second The blonde Parasaurolophus looked at him with a worried expression, extending her hand in an effort to help him up “Are you okay?” she asked, which Anon dismissed with a groan “Yep…Never better” After having recovered fully from the initial shock of seeing the blonde bitch again, he put his ‘chill guy’ facade back on as fast as he could. No need for these half strangers to know how uneasy he was today. Another hand was extended towards him. In the confusion, Anon shook it. The shrill voice of the girl assaulted his ears once more “Naser!” The Pterodactyl almost seemed to grin “Right, right” he said, firming his grip on Anon’s hand, before pulling him back on his feet. Anon immediately felt as his arm nearly popped out of its socket. “jesus fucking christ is this dude a bodybuilder? How the hell is he so damn strong…Ow…” Anon thought to himself. Said dinosaur started a new conversation after Anon managed to collect himself again. “You’re Anon, yeah?” the ptero whose name seemed to be Naser said in a calm manner. “I’m glad we found you!” …god why couldn’t this bitch just shut her mouth for 5 seconds? “Uh…Who are you guys? Why do you know my name?” “Where are my manners! My name is Naomi. Student council president, as well as your guide for today. It’s my sincere pleasure to make your acquaintance Anon!” Naser budded back in. “We’re your welcome committee” Anon tried his best not to stutter, even though he had another thing that was just begging to be let out “O-Kay then…” was this whole thing really necessary? I mean, he had already decided he wasn’t gonna come here to make friends anyways, Anon thought while listening to the two in front of him talk “I had this prepared just for you!” the orange dinosaur smiles as she hands Anon a brochure. Still confused, the human read what was printed on the cover page of the small book he was just given “Volcano High and You; A new beginning to Adulthood” Yuck…the title alone was enough to make Anon gag slightly. With Naomi’s expectant look locked onto him, Anon brushes through the brochure. It was full of the usual trivialities you’d find in a school brochure. College preparations and tips, financial assistance and guides, as well as after-school programs. As if he was EVER gonna take one of those…so none of it really mattered. As he was reading, Naser turned to the blonde Parasaurolophus “Babe, I've got some things to take care of. Would you mind?” Naser said, looking back at the school entrance. Following his eyes, Anon saw some people trying to lift a bulky speaker up the staircase leading to the entrance. “O-Oh…Okay. I’ll see you at lunch, right Naser?” Her look screams dejection. Naser chuckled, patting her shoulder “Yeah, of course.” The pat on the shoulder turns into a hug, while Naser nudged his snout against hers. One word: Yuck. Was that how meteor dodgers kissed? With that, he left, running quickly to assist with the heavy sound equipment. With an “Ahem” from Naomi, he turned back to her. Her smile seemed…off somehow. It looked a little too fake for his taste. Almost as if it was forced. “So, Anon…Why did you decide to transfer here?” Naomi asks with an innocent tone. ShitShitShit…that caught Anon off guard. Trying desperately to come up with some kind of plausible sounding answer, he realizes just how often he would probably get asked that in the next couple of days, be it by random students or his teachers. Naomi seemed to have noticed Anon’s sudden stuttering, as she looked to the ground in a defeated manner “O-Oh…Touched a nerve? I’m sorry-...You uh…don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.” Having nothing else to focus on, I turn my attention towards the brochure in my hand again out of embarrassment. ‘Wow anon…that was an incredible display of just how shit you are at social interaction’ he thought to himself as he noticed that he was starting to become seriously hungry. Well, anything was better than continuing to stand here with the dino equivalent of a barbie doll and awkwardly staring holes into the air. He flipped a few pages to look at the menus that would be available in the cafeteria. Skipping past the herbivore section immediately for obvious reasons, since he wouldn’t even pretend like any of that disgusting vegan shit like tofu was worth his time, he looked at the carnivore options. “What the…fuck? Filet Mignon for lunch?! What the fuck is wrong with this school?!” Anon muttered, luckily quietly enough for Naomi to not notice it. Yeah no…there was no way he was gonna be able to afford any of this shit. “Hey, uh…Naomi? Is there like…a soup kitchen around here or something?” Naomi looks at him as if he’d just asked her for a food stamp “Oh dear…Anon? Are you perhaps in need of financial aid?” What the fuck was that supposed to mean… “I can figure things out on my own, don’t worry about it too much” Anon tried to play it down because he was getting embarrassed again. He didn’t need anyone’s pity…especially not the pity of this blondie nerd. “The school has a program to help its less fortunate students! Oh, the principal here is great! Come on, I'll take you to him!” Naomi seemed to have completely ignored Anon, as she grabbed his hand and starts dragging him by the…oh no. . . . AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! DEFCON LEVEL ONE! DEFCON LEVEL ONE! FEMALE MAKING PHYSICAL CONTACT: DO NOT PANIC The alert’s where going off in anon’s head, his entire body freezing up like a deer in headlights. But then, the human realized…Naomi already had a boyfriend…’oh thank god, i could kiss you right now Naser’ Anon sighed with pure relief, as the alarms in his mind shut off instantly at the realization that Naomi would in no way want anything from him. Anon's face dropped once he noticed the weird thought he just had. Wait, what? Why the hell would he think that? Ew, since when was he a gay soyboy? Oh hell no. Anon decided it would be best to just let Naomi drag him after her by the hand, to god knows where. ‘Just what the hell have i gotten myself into…’ anon groaned in his mind. [NOTES] And with that, the second chapter is done! I'm actually really happy with how this turned out, but as usual, if you have any kind of criticism or tips to make this a more pleasureable read, then lmk in the comments. Also kudos would be greatly appreciated <3
