Hope you enjoy!. [/PRE-NOTES] January 6, year 201M2020 BC. On a slightly foggy morning, a bald human with a green shirt and blue jeans received a lot of stares from the various dinosaur students. One white Pterodactyl, in particular, looked at him before returning to talk with her friends. And now the human was being welcomed by a couple consisting of a very pink Parasaurolophus and a Pterodactyl of black and orange scales. The conversation was… awkward to say at least, so much that the bald human hoped that it would just end already or at the very least that something would break into it. “WAIT UP!!” A very loud voice interrupted in the distance, making the 3 young adults turn their heads toward the direction of the yell. They could see a figure running in their direction. Much to the bald male’s surprise, it was another human. One with tan skin, black spiky and wild hair that had the back tied into a ponytail along with bright and wide orange eyes. He was wearing black jeans as well as a white long-sleeve shirt and black boots. “Sheesh he looks like he broke straight out of an anime” the bald human mumbled to himself, a habit he had but that has not been pointed out to him yet. Quickly enough the wild-haired human landed on his boots right in front of them, smiling at them widely. A smile that exerted an energic spirit. “Sorry for being late! I kinda overslept last night Hehe!” he said with a tone just as loud and energic as before, making the 3 of them blink for a moment. “O…oh! I almost forgot we had two new students today!” The pink girl exclaimed, her attention turning back to the two humans. “That means you must be Ikara right?” she added. “Yep! Ikara Hikari! That is my name! nice to meet you all!” he exclaimed with a broad smile. “I’m Naomi! I’m the student council president and I am gonna be your guide today” she spoke repeating the words she had said a couple of seconds ago. “My name I Naser, Nice to meet you” he spoke and waved. “Uh… hi my name Is Anon… I also just arrived here” the bald human responded ‘And I thought the pink Dino was overbearing’ came from another mumble. “Oh well, now that you are here you can have one of this too!” Naomi said handing Ikara another brochure like the one Anon was currently holding, same cheesy stuff, same trivialities. “Huh…. Neat!” Ikara responded simplistically. “Babe I gotta take care of something” Naser spoke. They could see a couple of people trying to push a speaker through the stairs. Naomi showed a small dejected frown, “Oh…” she spoke “I’ll see you at lunch, right?” she asked. To which Naser chuckled a bit “Of course” he pulled her into a hug and pressed his snout against hers, causing very different thoughts from the two humans. ‘Is that a Dino kiss?’ Anon pondered. ‘That’s cute’ was the only thing that went through Ikara’s brain. However, he did say something else before Naser left. “Hey do you need help with that? I can go with you if you want!” he offered with a smile. The gesture made the Pterodactyl blink a little in surprise. “Ah. Thank you but it’s your first day, I don’t wanna ruin the tour Naomi got ready for you and Anon” Naser responded with a small smile. “Oh, okay! See ya later then! If you ever need help with anything after that you can tell me!” Ikara waved his hand as Naser left. “Ahem,” Naomi cleared her throat to catch the attention of both humans. “So…, why did you two transfer here?” Naomi asked, which caught Anon off guard. Instantly making him internally panic. He tried to scram for a response that wouldn’t reveal whatever secret he was hiding. Ikara noticed this too, and while he was also hesitant to answer the question for his reasons, he didn’t like seeing someone so distressed on their first day. So he spoke up quickly “My coach said that it would be a nice change of pace to meet new people!” he cheered. “Your… coach?” Naomi moved her head to the side confused, causing Ikara to mentally trip. “Ah! I mean my dad! Sorry I’m still a bit shaken from running here Hehe” he quickly corrected himself, clearly lying but gaining enough time for Anon to check something on the brochure so he could change the subject “Uh… is there a soup kitchen around here?” he asked. This spawned a conversation about Anon having financial problems. Which ultimately ended with Naomi pulling him into the school and towards the principal’s office and accidentally leaving the wild-haired male there. “Ah… see you guys I guess,” Ikara watched them leave. “Well guess I should get going to class, wherever that is,” the smile on his face became smaller yet still visible. Promptly he began walking inside the building. Luckily for him, he had his schedule so at the very least he wasn’t completely lost… but still lost regardless since he did not have any idea how to get to his first-period art class. He was aimlessly walking around the halls trying to get to his class in time, earning some judgmental looks and whispers. “Hey dude… do you need help? “a male voice spoke, causing the Ikara to turn over. He then saw a raptor with a red tank top and ripped black jeans as well as a red tail. “Oh hey! Yeah, I’m kinda new and I think the Dino who was gonna guide me got a bit distracted Hehe… but it's okay she was helping someone else!” Ikara rubbed the back of his head with a nervous smile. “But I am a little lost. I don’t know how to get to art class” he chuckled a little. “Ah No worries man, I have that class on first too can take you there if ya want” the raptor responded in a relaxed tone, almost too relaxed. But the Ikara didn’t judge this, especially when he was being offered help. “Thanks man! You’re a lifesaver!” He said enthusiastically. “No probs, come on follow me,” he said before he started walking, and Ikara soon followed. “Name’s Reed btw” the laid-back dino introduced himself. “Nice to meet you Reed! I’m Ikara!”. Soon the two arrived at the classroom, where Ikara introduced himself as enthusiastically as he did outside. Sadly, not all the students were as open as Reed. Ikara ended up sitting beside him. That still didn’t deter him from his energic and cheerful behavior. And hey, at least he had someone to talk to. During the class, Ikara managed to have a pleasant conversation with Reed despite receiving some looks from the other students. Although the lesson was about the use of color in paintings, they talked about their interests and other things. They were only half-focused on the lesson. “So bro, do you like music?” Reed tilted his head to the side. “Huh? Oh yeah! I like it well enough” Ikara responded as he turned his sight back towards him. “Nice, me and my friends have a band and we were planning to have a concert today in the auditorium, maybe you can come to watch us play” he offered. “That sounds great! And it’s a perfect chance to meet more people here!” he cheered a bit too loudly which earned him a scold from the art teacher. “Yeaaaaaaaaaah, you get it man, we have had a bit of tough luck lately but I feel like we are about to get something good,” Reed said keeping his laid-back tone. “Oh… well I’ll be sure to be there!” Ikara whispered/yelled. Soon the bell rang. Everyone started to pack their things up “Thanks bro, see you there” Reed extended his arm for a fist bump. “Totally!” Ikara happily returned the fist bump before he exited the classroom. ---------------------------- It was lunchtime, and Ikara got on in the carnivore line. Getting way more food than someone would expect for a human, especially for someone who didn’t look taller than average. Once on an empty table, he pulled down the various kinds of meat and began to dig in. “Uh… Ikara?” he heard a familiar voice call out to him. He turned his head up to see Naser and Naomi standing in front of his table. “Oh, Hello guys!” Ikara swallowed a bite he was having. “Uh… are you sure you can eat all of that? It seems like a bit too much” Naser pointed out, “Yeah... and it's not particularly healthy either” Naomi added. “Well normally yeah but I am on a special diet. I need to eat a lot of this stuff because I do a lot of heavy work out at home” Ikara explained. He was leaving some details out but hopefully adding enough to make them not question it any further. “Oh uh… what kinda of diet are you on man?” Naser asked trying to keep the conversation going. Much to the human’s luck Naomi dragged Naser away as soon as she saw Anon in the distance. After waving goodbye to the couple, he continued to eat. At some point he saw Reed as well as the white Pterodactyl from before and a small purple triceratops. They were already on their way to the door and passed the Ikara was sitting on, so he took the opportunity to wave at his new friend and the two dinos he had yet to meet. Reed waved back calmly, earning a look of narrowed eyes from the purple triceratops and indifference from the white Pterodactyl. Ikara eventually finished his lunch and got all his trash in the bin, standing back up. After this he made his way outside of the cafeteria, trying his best to find his way to the next class he had. ------After school------ The rest of the classes were fairly standard, but he had no luck making any new friends, and Ikara didn’t see Reed or Naser in any of his other classes so finding his way around. Somehow, he managed to get by without getting lost again and only arriving slightly late to the other classrooms. Now with all that over, he made his way to the auditorium. He was one of the first students to arrive, and in front of the doors, he found a slightly confused Naser. “Ikara?... what are you doing here?” he asked in a puzzled tone. “Oh! hi Naser! I came to see Reed’s band play!” the human male answered. “You know about the band?” the pterodactyl asked. “Yeah?... I got first period with Reed and we talked a bit, he mentioned his band and asked me to come to see them, and he has been a great friend so I wanted to support him and the others!” he cheered. This surprised Naser, he didn’t expect someone to come without him having to ask or offer pizza. But because he mentioned becoming friends with Reed, it started to make a bit more sense. Yet it still made him feel a bit relieved. “That’s… very nice of you Ikara, thanks,” he said. To this Ikara tilts his head in confusion, why would he thank him for that? That made him realize that Ikara didn’t know the reason why Naser was here. “O... oh right, you’re probably wondering why I’m here huh...?” he rubbed the back of his head as he continued to watch the human’s puzzled face. “…to watch the band?” it was his first guess. “Well… not exactly, you see my siste- er I mean sibling is in the band and I wanted to support her-them,” he said. Ikara’s head was now trying to figure out why did he correct the word sister with sibling. He also didn’t think about his response because he was still trying to decipher what it meant, not wanting to say something wrong and starting to think about that single sentence way more than someone reasonably should, enough to make some steam get out of his ears. “Hey… don’t think too hard about it man” Naser spoke, snapping Ikara out of his trance. “Wha...” the human said in a lost tone. “Just… thank you for coming to support them, not a lot of people do that and it’s been getting to Fang’s mood...,” Naser said. To this Ikara assumed that Fang was the name of his sibling. “Oh…oh, sorry to hear that Naser… is there anything I can do?”. “You came here, that already helps a lot” Naser answered with a smile. “And hey, you can grab yourself a pizza if you want” he added pointing at the doors. “Nah. I already ate plenty of calories today, I’m sure you already know that” the Ikara joked rubbing the back of his head. Naser couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle “Yeah… I suppose you’re right, thanks again Ikara”. “No problem Naser! See you in there!” Ikara responded and walked inside the door, passing the boxes of pizza and going straight to one of the tables. He waved enthusiastically at Reed as soon as he saw the band in there. Reed waved back from behind the drums, making the purple small triceratops look at him suspiciously again. “What is that spike-head skinnie doing here?” the small Dino crossed her arms under her bass. “Chillax Trish, he’s cool. Ikara was a bit lost since it was his first day, so I helped him to art class. We talked a bit and I asked if he wanted to see us play, he was a total bro about it” he explained the situation to his small friend. “It’s better than having no one come or having Naser’s idiot friends come here,” the white Pterodactyl said with an interested expression on her face, though an annoyed tone could be heard when she said her brother’s name. “See? Fang gets it” Reed pointed out to the small Dino who wanted to protest but ended up sighing. “Fine, but if I see him doing anything as close to laughing at us. I’ll smash his head in,” she shot the human a small glare but quickly focused back on toning her bass. Bit by bit, more students started to fill the room but this had the opposite effect as one would expect because Fang seemed less than happy about this. Something that she left very clear to her brother, who at the time seemed to be talking with Anon. In the end, Naser left and Anon simply made his way to a random seat. Soon enough, the band began playing… and it wasn’t exactly melodious, but not something that Ikara wanted to be too judgmental about. He was there to support a friend after all and to maybe make some new ones. But the problem was when the laughter started, one by one the other students started mocking the band. It was hard to tell any of them apart from each other how many people were there. The whole auditorium. Laughing at his friend and their band, and he wasn’t doing anything. He couldn’t do anything, he was just staring, his smile changing into an expression of shock. ‘Do something!’ ‘Do something!’ ‘Help them!’ ‘Move!’ Numerous voices in his head were telling him to move. His breathing getting heavy and his heart rate increased exponentially, he couldn’t do anything and he hated that feeling, it was as if someone was stabbing right into his chest, he had to get out of there. He quickly got up from the table he was at, rushing outside of the auditorium while everyone was too busy laughing to notice him. He quickly pushed through the doors, leaning against the wall and holding his chest, panting rapidly and trying to control his breathing. It took him a couple of seconds, but he managed to calm himself down. His panting died down as he looked back at the sky, his teeth greeting a bit “I didn’t… I didn’t do anything… why… why I didn’t do anything…! “He cursed himself silently. Until a tall figure stood in front of him, a large caveman with a suit and black hair as well as glasses covering his eyes, “Is everything okay Ikara?” he asked him. “H…huh?” he asked as he looked up at him. “Principal Spears” he introduced himself and helped him up “You look, distressed boy, What exactly happened in there?” he questioned him. “I… I just… everyone starting laughing… insulting them… Reed is my friend… but I didn’t do anything to stop it… I just watched him and his friends getting mocked...” he said looking down in shame. “And that made you so distressed that you had a panic attack?” the principal asked, Ikara simply nodded silently. “Kid… wanting to help others is good… but sometimes you need to step back and let others help you… I don’t think that was a normal reaction, and you should talk with someone about it before you let it get to you again” he told him. “…. I suppose…” he responded quietly. He wasn’t fully convinced but he didn’t want to argue with him. This made Principal Spears sigh but he gave the wild-haired man a look of understanding “If you ever feel ready for it, I am sure Reed will be happy to hear you out, and if you need more support my door is always open,” he said. Ikara looked back up at him, responding with a small nod and a faint smile “Thank you Principal Spears… I’ll try” he said. The caveman smiled softly in response “Now go, I have to deal with some less sensible students, “he said. The young male nodded while grabbing his backpack and walking away, only hearing some faint yelling and the various steps following. Eventually, Ikara made it to his neighborhood. It was not too far from Skinny Row and no less shady than it. Right now a tall stegosaurus with a cross tattoo stood in front of him, stopping him in his tracks and looking down at him. “Hey there pipsqueak, back home late?” he told him in a dry yet mocking tone, but the human male barely reacted. “You guys again? I thought I told your gang to leave us alone” he responded with his backpack over his shoulder. “Not until you give us the money you owe us” the Stego answered. “I already told you, we don’t owe you a thing,” he told him and sighed “Look this started as a good day and then went downhill so I am not in the mood to deal with you, so just scram before it’s too late for you” Ikara added as his voice dropped the cheerfulness completely. “And what will you do if I don’t? Skinnie?” the stegosaurus replied in a smug tone with a shit-eating grin. Ikara simply set down his back only to look up at the Dino, “Fine. But when you get back your boss, tell him to not mess with us again” he told him in a straightforward tone his eyes now staring devoid of any light. This Human was hiding a lot of things, and only time would tell if anyone in Volcano High would find out about his secrets.
