STILL NOT SNOOT RELATED, BUT I DID HAVE HELP FROM OTHER WRITERS WHEN IT CAME TO REVISIONS AND PROOFREADING [/PRE-NOTES] Fang stares out into the horizon, a cigarette between their fingers. They were enjoying the sound of waves crashing down on the shore and the winds whistling past the cliffside. It distracted them from their problems -if only momentarily, anyway. The meteor, once a microscopic dot visible through the lens of a telescope, now a growing desk in the early evening sky, pulling the tide up to the side of the road. Everyone is at home or elsewhere trying to hold on to whatever they have left of their families, loved ones, anything they hold dear, Fang's just… standing there savoring the calm ocean breeze one final time. The entire band thing didn't work out, and their friends decided they had better things to do with their families. Fang's parents were stuck elsewhere, probably dead by now, and Naser… Fang takes another puff from their cigarette, wishing to take their mind off that. They never wanted to die alone, but what else could Fang do? They burned every bridge they had, and for what? Fame? Popularity? Money? "Hey, Fang!" Called a sweet, peachy voice. Oh no… what was she doing here? Fang stood up and turned to find Naomi approaching, heart immediately racing. Why was she here? Didn't she have family or whatever?! Wh- "Calm down, Fang. Breathe. Don't want to go out stressed, right?" Naomi asked, putting her hands on Fang's bare shoulders. The pale blue Pterodactyl was panting hard, their eyes shifting and darting all over the place before focusing on Naomi's. Breathe in, breathe out. Fang would eventually calm down with help from their girlfriend… spouse? It's not like they had proper rings… or a wedding. Soon, Fang broke the relative silence by asking, "Why did you come back? I thought you hated me?" Naomi was taken aback by such a comment, shaking her head before responding, "Hate you? Fang, it's the end of the world. The last thing I would do is hate you." Naomi took Fang's hands, gripping them tightly. "Besides, we're in this for the long run." Fang's wings flared up, opening without a second thought. They loved this Parasaur girl, and she loved them back. The two would shift around, sitting in the sand and staring at the horizon. The impending meteor left the sky lit up for miles upon miles. It was pretty… all the auroras, and the way the stars sparkled… almost took their minds off the entire 'impending doom' thing. "So…" started Fang, "What do you think it would've been like?" "Hm? What do you mean?" "What would our lives have been like if the meteor didn't exist?" "Oh. Not sure, honestly. Maybe we would've had a huge ceremony. You could've gotten Worm Drama off the ground. We would probably still have all our friends… maybe Naser wouldn't be…" Naomi stopped, looking at the now-tearing-up Fang before hugging them. "I'm still sorry for what happened to him…" "It's not even your fault. You shouldn't keep apologizing for it." "And you shouldn't feel guilty. It was just an accident-" "Just like his wing, right? That was 'just an accident', right?" "Fang, please just-" "Naomi, I lost my brother. I lost my parents. All of my friends fucking hate me! You're the only person left, and I'm not fucking ready to lose you yet!" Fang choked out as they squeezed Naomi tight, their wings wrapped around the two. Tears streamed from their face, bleeding out every emotion Fang's body could manage. Naomi's fingers brushed through Fang's hair, her other arm pulling them closer. Naomi tried to maintain eye contact, while Fang just opted to bury their head in Naomi's embrace. Eventually, the Parasaur spoke up. "Hey, listen. Leaving the world isn't as scary as you think it is. Trust me," said Naomi. Fang stopped and looked into Naomi's eyes, their own being red from all the tears. Fang searched for words, their mind only settling on one question, "How could you say that Naomi?" "Because, I'm leaving with you, Fang. And there's nobody else I'd rather be with." Fang sat there, stunned and bewildered. Their wings released Naomi and spread out, soon folding back. Fang sighed, glancing into the pseudo-sunset the meteor had created. "I… thanks for coming… I… really didn't want to die alone." "Neither did I. And I wasn't going to stand around and wait for the meteor to take me." The two stared into each other's eyes before closing and leaning in. They kissed one final time as the meteor finally made impact. There was no pain, no loud boom to be heard. It was quick. All gone within a flash. [POST-NOTES] Thanks for reading. I have some things in the works. Stuff I'd like to keep secret until their respective chapter one's are ready for AO3.
