>"You have to spend a lot on those or did you just saw off the bottom of some coke bottles?" A snicker from the backseat alerts me to my audience. I perform, for them. Not for any sort of satisfaction myself, of course.
>"Oh hey I meant to check my horoscope this morning. You mind reading out some distant constellations for me real quick? Shouldn't be too hard." I hit a stride as more chuckling resounds from the back.
>In an almost flurry I finish, "Never knew you moonlighted as a librarian for ants, Nick."
>And that seems to have broke the dam of laughter from both Trent and Curtis. The two having a fit as I can't stop the shit-eating grin as it spreads across my face.
>I cautiously check in on my belittling target to notice a stillness about her. As we pull to a stop light she looks over, smirking a bit. I can tell she's either fully awake or just about there. I prepare for her dress down in response. One well earned.
>Instead I find a light tap on my shoulder as she speaks, "Alright I guess I deserved that. Morning guys."
>Two responses from the back in quick succession as Nick tilts her head forward again, light's green.
>She sighs a bit as she speaks now, fiddling with the radio a bit as she does. "Yeah I forgot the things this morning and realized I couldn't see the street signs after a block or two. Keep these in the van just in case." She nudges her glasses to demonstrate.
>"Got an actual pair back home that aren't as thick." She tilts her head slightly but keeps her eyes on the road, "Hey Curtis you still got that pic of us in highschool?"
>He quickly tacks away at his rectangular device before tilting it to me, displaying a photo of him and Nick from a few years back.
>Curtis used to be quite small, not the mountain he is now. Seeing him frail and sans tattoo is quite the sight. The real kicker here is Nick.
