For this piece I wanted something very dramatic, yet very focused on the characters. I chose a colour scheme of a dragon race of mine for the main character, with his cool blues and strikingly contrasting fiery wings and underbelly, modifying his lost mate's to a cool green, with the same contrasting fiery tones. For the background, I wanted nothing distracting, as in moments like these one's whole world fades away into a singular focus on the tragedy at hand, so I picked a black background, adding to the sharp contrast of the figures' colours, adding to the psychological tension, and casting a spotlight down on them, highlighting them and nothing else as the center of focus.
