Voices of veterans: New museum in Ohio is a salute to stories, not war

The idea for the National Veterans Memorial and Museum started with one veteran. Astronaut John Glenn, a former Marine, U.S. senator and Ohio resident, wanted a special, sacred place to honor and connect veterans and teach others about their service.

Japanese woman arrested in stabbing death of Yokota-based airman

The incident happened about 8 p.m. Friday at a home in Tachikawa, a city about 7 miles southeast of Yokota Air Base, according to reports by TV Asahi and the Mainichi newspaper.

VA secretary has begun planning budget cuts requested by Trump

Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie said Friday that he has begun forming a plan to cut the agency’s budget as President Donald Trump requested during a Cabinet meeting last month.

Pentagon No. 3 Gibson, tasked with finding DOD cost savings, resigns

The Pentagon’s first-ever chief management officer resigned Monday from the Defense Department’s No. 3 position just eight months after taking the job charged with leading efforts to save the department money through business reforms.

Experts said the candidates built upon the successful past campaigns of Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., a veteran combat helicopter pilot who lost both legs during her military service, and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, a member of her state’s National Guard.
