H is for hope and for healing
For helping and happy and high
That last is of special importance
Especially for you and for I

Through eyes etched with acid I loved you
Fake tail and styrofoam paws
I thought we could be more than human
That together we'd conquer our flaws

But love is just chemical blindness
Enraptures and empties the mind
It lifts you and lulls you and leaves you
With truth too elusive to find

No affection can cure our affliction
No trip's long enough to escape
And under the fur we affect is
A steady and unchanging shape

Yeah, when I'm dry I see clearly
The truth for me and for you
H is for hate, and for human
And the human will always show through
