At one time I would try to tie this all into a greater story. That time is gone, for I have seventeen half started fics for every one that got more than a few paragraphs, and twenty of those for every fic that made it to FA. This is a story about pony fats, and it is unambiguously about pony fats. Any conceit created in order to put the lucky male and female protagonists into the same room with a large quantity of fattening substances is intended to be just that. Reading too much into it and trying to extract a logical sequence (as I frequently do) will result in either a headache or disappointment, so I suggest you don't do it. Crystal Shine's lustrous glassy mane was the reason her parents named her such, and was the envy of many another mare. Some speculated that somewhere down the line her parents had had Crystal Empire blood in their veins, that some including her parents. Crystal herself did not care all that much, not being all that preoccupied with her appearance, and besides, she had much more important matters to worry about than her genetics. Most important to the glossy sky blue unicorn was her study of the multiverse theory, a project several years already in the making. All the evidence she had gathered from books of antiquity, from interviews with the four princesses (she would never know why they agreed to be interviewed by her when hundreds of other ponies with issues more pressing clamored for attention), and from her own empirical experiments in certain locations of power, pointed to there being more than one universe than their own. Certain magical artifacts even seemed to be able to bridge the gap between them and deposit matter one way or another. Princess Sparkle, though she was quite tight-lipped about it, had hinted that she herself had traveled through such a universe gateway, but would not speak of it beyond the hints she had dropped. It was these hints that brought Crystal to the Crystal Empire in search of answers, along with a final phrase, "You may find your answer in your own reflection.", cryptically given at the end of her interview with Princess Sparkle. A universe and a few hundred meters away, Ryan Herpderp prodded the machine he had built from spare parts lying about the lab. He wasn't /quite/ sure what it would do, considering it operated on previously unknown mathematics (that his old roommate invented while high), but whatever it was it would be pretty spectacular. The whole thing was pocket sized, a small egg filled with a few electromagnets of various sizes and shapes, and a small embedded computer that adjusted the fields they created. "Quite a neat job!" he said to himself, proud of his work. All that was left was to test the thing, which theoretically was as easy as punching in a few numbers and transferring them over to the computer in the egg. Referencing the numbers his old roommate sketched down hastily (also while high), Ryan configured the egg and turned it on, not sure what to expect. The egg hummed, heated up, lifted out of Ryan's hand, and emitted a bright light that blinded Ryan before knocking him unconscious. When Ryan came to, he was flat on his back looking up at the lab ceiling. His chest felt heavy and it was hard to breathe, he hoped that the egg hadn't exploded and knocked out a lung. Closing his eyes and examining his head with his fingers, he found no bumps that weren't already there, no fractures, and no blood, so he moved his hands doward to examine the rest of him. When he got to where his chest started, he felt another body on top of him, and he opened his eyes to see a sky blue body atop him. Specifically, he saw a sky blue butt with legs that faded to white at the feet in one direction, and the rest of a girl in the other direction. His jaw dropped slightly as he realized she was wearing about as much clothing as he wasn't, but he had no time to do anything about it as she stirred. "Unh..." was her word of greeting, shifting her arms to push herself off the floor. "Uh, hi miss...?" was his reply as he attempted to shift himself out from under her unsuccessfully. Hearing his reply she turned her head and opened blurry eyes in his direction, unfocused and confused. "What?" Ryan managed to find some purchase and sat up from under her, catching her before she toppled over, and lay her on her back on his lap. She was a curious alien, with a face vaguely horselike, large turqoise eyes, and glassy translucent hair, almost like a head of fiber optic cabling, and a small but noticable horn protruding from her forehead. Otherwise, however, she was almost entirely human, with human features (he carefully averted his eyes from her ample chest) and perfectly understandable (though accented) english. Within a few minutes she had recovered her senses and looked around the room with interest. "Where am I?" she asked, seemingly unconcerned about her nudity. "You're in my graduate lab at university. How did you get here?" he replied, considering how to proceed from here. "I don't know, maybe the pool had something to do with this..." "The pool?" They continue the confusing exchange for a few minutes and figured out their situation. The girl's name was Crystal Shine and she was from the land of Equestria. She had been studying the magical properties of a pool she had discovered in the basement of the Crystal Palace (unrelated to her she assured him) when a bright light emerged out of the pool and hit her square in the face. After that she remembered nothing up until she had woken up on top of him in the lab. On his part, Ryan shared that he had built a device that his old roommate had devised (carefully leaving out the part about how impaired his old roommate had been) that supposedly could create wormholes using far less energy than previously thought possible. While they talked Ryan cast about the lab, attempting to find something for her to wear, just in case his lab partner showed up. Luckily he had crashed at the lab during project hours enough that he had a few changes of clothes stashed away and he returned to her with a shirt and a pair of jeans. "So... perhaps your 'wormhole' generator managed to interface with the pool and transport me here..." she mused. "Here," he said, offering the clothing, "Put these on. I hope they fit, I don't really have anything else around..." She looked at the offering with incomprehension. "Put them on?" she asked, taking the clothing and holding it up. "Yeah. Like I'm wearing them." he said, standing and turning to show himself. "Why would I do that? I'm not cold. Do you get cold easily?" she asked, standing up next to him and feeling his arm. "No not at all, but uh, in this universe we wear clothing." he said awkwardly, continuing, "To look decent." "I don't care much for my appearance, my research is more important." "I meant in the sense that it's not considered appropriate to be without clothing in public, in the sense of social mores." "Oh. I suppose when in Canterlot..." "In what?" "Nevermind." With a bit of tutoring, Crystal put on the jeans and shirt. "A bit snug... but if this is how it's supposed to be, I guess I'll have to bear it." she complained. "You'll attract far fewer stares, though your coloration will probably attract just as many." he remarked, indicating his own pinkish complextion. "Oh, do you not have more than one color among your people?" "No, everyone is pretty much this color along a scale to brownish." IM DOING IT AGAIN IM DOING TOO MUCH CHARACTERIZATION FUCK THIS SHIT GOING TO PLAID Ryan's stomach making itself known to be very hungry interrupted the two as they talked, grumbling loudly. Taking a peek at his phone he saw it was later than he thought, almost 3pm. "Say, you hungry? I don't think leaving an alien alone in my lab would be all that great an idea and I'm kinda hungry." "I suppose I could eat." Crystal replied, raising an eyebrow at the 'alien' comment. "Great. Hm, you need shoes." "Shoes? I have ho- oh, I don't." she said, looking down at her feet in surprise. "How did I not notice that before?" "Do you normally have hooves instead of feet?" "I normally walk on four legs with hooves. These chest breasts are new as well, normally they're down between my back legs." At this Ryan turned to her slowly, pausing in his search for a spare pair of flip flops. "... are you perhaps normally a horse?" he asked "Oh, no, I come from Equestria, not Saddle Arabia. I'm a pony." "A pony." "Yes." Ryan gave her an unreadable look and then shrugged, coming up with some of his old flip flops. "Here you go, that should do." Satisfactorily shod, the two went out of the lab and headed to a nearby fast food restaurant. A few minutes time and some money exchanged, Ryan and Crystal sat down amongst many stares with their food. "You weren't kidding about the skin coloration being mostly the same." "Yep, you're quite the sight. Don't pay them much attention though, they're used to seeing cosplayers and whatnot, they'll stop looking eventually." Ryan dug into his burger and Crystal did the same, watching Ryan to see how to open the packaging. As the first bite hit her taste buds her eyes flew open in surprise, it was the best thing she had ever tasted. "This food is amazing! What is it?" she asked. "Oh, the usual fast food mash. Hamburger, various chemical additives, most of them likely addictive, highly processed sugars and starches, high fat cheese and meat. Do they not have anything like that where you live?" "Not at all! I don't even know what most of that meant! The second best thing I've ever tasted (it used to be first) was called a 'donut', a bit of pasty dough dipped in oil and coated in sugar glaze. They only made a few of them, though, too difficult to make by hand. We usually just have vegetables and hay." "Oh, we have those too. We also have machines to make them, much easier than by hand." Little other talk was exchanged after this, as Crystal was too busy consuming her burger and Ryan watching her, amused. "Hungrier than you thought, huh?" he asked as she finished. "Much! I hadn't realized how hungry I was until I had a few bites of this burger." "Well we'll get some for the road then, I've got to get back and head to class but you can hang out in my apartment until I get back. Later on we can figure out how to make the wormhole last longer so we can link our two universes up." Crystal nodded and they headed back to Ryan's apartment (though not before grabbing another bag of burgers for Crystal). Ryan headed to class and time passed without incident, though his professors were as boring and seemingly clueless as ever. When he returned he found Crystal lying on his couch, the bag previously full of burgers now full of wrappers, and her belly previously empty now full of burgers. His shirt, which on her hadn't fit well previously, now didn't fit at all, and her larger belly pushed the shirt up and off. "Finished them all?" he asked, still amused at the girl's hunger for alien food. "Yes, and still hungry somehow! I don't understand it. Are you hungry?" "Not particularly, really. I think I have some leftover pizza in the fridge though, you can have that." Saying this he moved to his refridgerator and removed the box, 3/4 full of pepperoni he had ordered the other night and not finished. "There's a large debate as to whether pizza is better cold or reheated, I suppose you'll have to decide for yourself. If you want to heat it up, there's a machine over there called a microwave. Place a slice or two inside and hit the button marked '1', that should be enough time to get it warm but not too hot." "Thank you, but what are you going to do?" "Oh, I have to check on a few things. I'll be here, just a bit busy for the next while." he said, retrieving his laptop from his backpack and sitting down on the couch. Crystal opened up the box and took out a slice of the pie. Taking a bite, she again experienced a more tasty dish than she had ever had before and quickly consumed half of the remaining pizza. Looking up, Ryan laughed and motioned to the microwave again. "Hey, try it in there before you make your decision. It's typically served warm, cold pizza is the alternate." "Does the microwave do anything other than heat things up?" she asked. "Well, the mechanism by which it does so is not quite heat, but in effect yes." "Well then there's no need for the microwave." she stated with a smile, and reached back in her mind to her magic kindergarten days to one of her non-speciality spells for a bit of heat. Her horn acquired a shimmering halo of rainbow light which spread to the pizza in her hand, and in a few seconds the slice was piping hot. Ryan stared on in awe. "Advanced nanotechnology?" he asked, dumbstruck. "Advanced what? Just magic, do you not have unicorns around here?" "Not in anything but legend." he stated, eyes wide. Crystal tilted her head quizically but soon refocused on the now extremely fragrant slice of pizza. Taking a bite, she made her decision. "It's /far/ better hot." she stated around a mouthful of pizza. Picking up the rest of the pizza she again reached out with her magic and heated up the entire thing at once, then proceeded to eat it methodically. Ryan looked on, oddly getting used to the magical glow. Crystal, finished with the pizza, sat back down on the couch and rubbed her full belly. "Phew, I don't think I've ever eaten that much. I think I'm finally full as well. Thank you for the food!" "My pleasure, always happy to help an alien in need." he said with a smile. "Looks like your body reacts quite quickly to our food, though." he noted, pointing to her distended belly and returning to his work. "Looks like." she agreed, poking the taut surface lightly. After a moment and with a thoughtful expression, she added, "say, is this considered a public location? I'm grateful to you for the clothing but it's, well, a bit tight and uncomfortable." Ryan replied, distracted by an email from his boss about his data usage on the university shared drive, "Uh yeah that's fine." Taking advantage of his possible distraction, Crystal quickly shucked the tight shirt, her poor compressed frame feeling much relieved at the relaxed space. Off came the jeans as well, angry lines around her hips softening in color now that they were no longer imprisoned. "Much better!" she sighed and laid back on the couch, her head next to Ryan's leg. Absentmindedly, Ryan turned on the TV and handed her the controller to his gamebox. "Might as well take in some more of our culture. I've got some more work to do but I should be done pretty soon. Take the tutorial and see how you like it." "Pretty soon" turned into "a few hours" as he got into an argument with his boss and a few other coworkers as to how important his reams of data on wormholes was (it was incredibly important, how could people not see that!). Meanwhile, Crystal became engrossed in the game she had picked out of the multitude that were loaded into the gamebox's memory, an engrossing open-world game set in the distant future after a nuclear apocalypse, whatever the last was. She had never seen a "gun" as it was called but she intuitded the point of it from the way it was referred to as a mechanical version of a magic blast. Engrossed in the game she did not notice her belly slowly softening, losing some of its mass and depositing it elsewhere on her frame. She did, however, notice her growing hunger, which became too much to bear about three hours later, after the sun had set outside. Looking over to Ryan she saw him engrossed in his work, tapping away at a strange looking slate with shifting pictures on one side. "Hey, Ryan, think we could have some more food now?" "Huh?" he replied, not looking up from his work, "Oh, yeah, sure, just uh, order something from the pizza place. There's a shortcut for it on the gamebox menu, just hit the center button and select pizza. It's all automatic, should be here in 15 minutes." Sure enough when she pressed the menu button, on one of the panels there was an item entitled "Too Busy to Get Up Pizza", an aptly named pizza restaurant seemingly. She browsed their menu hungrily, picking out things that seemed familiar, mostly vegetables, and more curiously the items that she was not familiar with, things under the heading "meats". In the end she decided to get one of everything and ordered a generous twenty pizzas, each with one topping (and two pepperoni). The total charged at the end looked like a lot, and she became nervous. "Uh, Ryan, is $120 a lot of money?" "Yeah, a bit, why," he said between angry missives sent to the department about research data. "Oh. How much do you think that is in bits?" she asked as she opened up her personal pocket space and took out a bag of gold coins. "Bits?" he asked, taking his eyes off the computer finally. Seeing the gold coins his eyes opened wide. "Are those solid gold?" "Yeah, of course. How could gold bits be anything but gold?" "Ours is a rather gold-poor world, the price of gold is something like... $100 per ounce. Without a scale I'd imagine your purse there is worth a good several thousand dollars. The price of gold would plummet if your universe started spending en masse." "So if I gave you a few of these coins, would that cover the amount of pizza I'm about to order?" Ryan glanced at the screen and raised an eyebrow at the size of the order. "Yeah I'd say so. More than cover, actually. Probably a few more orders of this size." "Oh, good! Here you go!" she said, then dropped the coins in a neat stack onto his computer. She hit the order button and got back to her game, happy she was squared away. Ryan stared at the pile of what looked like extremely pure gold coins and shrugged, getting back to work. A few nights of this sort of treatment changed Crystal's body dramatically. Where before she had been slim with reasonable curves, now she had serious curves bordering on expansive, taking up two couch cushions and pushing Ryan to the very edge, squished up into one half of a cushion by her sky blue hip. At first Ryan had expressed mild unease about her quick weight gain but her continual lack of alarm at the changes eventually persuaded him to stop worrying. Along with her increased weight and size came an increase in amorousness toward him and he couldn't exactly argue with that. When she wasn't chowing down (and even when she was) she was constantly asking to cuddle, something he had not expected an alien pony from another universe to have on her list of priorities, but apparently it was common practice. As Friday rolled around he found himself laid back atop her, herself laid back on the couch, his head cushioned by her belly and topped by her breasts. He couldn't deny that it was very comfy, and allowed her to take up the whole couch and yet give him some space on which to relax. At the moment she was digging into her sixth dinner pizza (pizza had become her favorite food, pepperoni and mushroom in particular) and continuing her save file in Fallup 2277. "Say, Crystal, mind sparking this one quickly?" he asked, holding a duplicate of the egg he had used a few days ago to transport Crystal to this universe. The two had investigated how his invention had interacted with her magic and found out she could "spark" them, opening temporary portals between the universes. To date he hadn't used it for much except to push a few pieces of equipment through to the other side to prepare for making a more permanent portal. Tonight, however, he intended to push his original egg through and link it up to the new one, and for that he had to have both of them sparked. "Sure!" she paused her game for a moment and concentrated, her glow enveloping the egg and his hand holding it, causing it to tingle like the touch of a butterfly on his skin. The egg now sparked, it glowed faintly like Crystal's magic touch and she returned to her game, another pizza on the way down. "Still enjoying the good life, huh?" he asked, poking her belly lightly. "You betcha! I'm glad the exchange rate from bits to dollars is so good, I'm not exactly rich back home but I'm super rich here!" she gushed, finishing off a particularly stubborn mutant. "Feel like taking a visit to your universe? Because I think the portal is stable now." "Really?" Pausing her game once again she glanced to Ryan atop her belly and marveled at the shimmering white-rimmed portal, the other side of which she recognized as the roof of the Crystal Palace basement, looking upward from the reflective pool. "Oooh, you weren't kidding!" she whispered, putting a hand through the portal. The hand emerged on the other side as a hoof, now ringed with a bit more pudge than before. "Not kidding at all." Putting his own hand through the portal, another hoof joined hers, dark gray with unshorn fetlocks and well defined. "Looks like humans emerge in your world as ponies, hm." he noted, withdrawing his hand, "I guess that means you're not really an alien then?" "I have no idea," she admitted, "but I guess this means I should save my game, hm?" Crystal looked at Ryan expectantly, her finger hovering over the button to save the game. Ryan looked down at her belly and the unfinished pizza next to Crystal's head, then sat back with his head again cushioned by her breasts. "On second thought, what's the rush?"
