Chapter 5 Fortune favors a balding Mad Doctor


Our scene opens to the mountainscape entrance of the MagicCrafters Dragon Realm, carved out the mountain side, stone marble castle adorned into the rockside, floor had patches of snow and tiles.


The Archway stood alone in an empty marbled hall till Portal Archway activated. 


The Doctor coming through the portal, not stable with his footing he falling face into patch of snow, our fortunate favored mad doctor getting pushed through portal not ready for that, lifting his face out the snow and wiped away snow on his face, standing up back to his feet with a grunt as next figure followed behind him through the portal, dragoness sorceress chuckles seeing him covered in snow as she came up to him help brush some snow off his shoulder.


"i don't really think it was funny " his pride hurt from being shoved through a portal.


"Well we had to keep moving, the portal will not stay open all day for you to examine if it was safe" The dragoness smiled at her companions.


The doctor gave a grunt disapproval and realized it was cold.... very cold. He Shivered and wrapped his arms around him, hypothermia was intimate, the sudden change of climate from hot desert to frosty mountains, the doctor chatted his teeth "not exactly dressed for the weather here."


Steph leaned over to see him shivering, she forgot this human had no magic support to not fight off extreme weather conditions "My bad, forgot about non magic creatures can’t survive extreme weather... it's a thing, dragons magic allows us to be in extreme weather to live in, barely feeling the cold."


Cortex was not amused to hear this and he was still cold and getting colder.


She walked around in front of her human as she leaned down, she uttered some strange dialect as she tapped her lip before landing a kiss onto the doctor's temple. a magical barrier enveloped the doctor.


Cortex was now again warm and in a regulated temperature, he did not feel the frost cold anymore and was able to relax..he placed hand where she kissed his temple.


Steph nods happily as the spell worked on him "no longer cold.. good, fire fairy spell allows non magic folks to live in coldness.. spell last whole time while we are in the mountains."


Steph places her hand on the doctor's shoulder for him to move along corridors to make their way outside.


Cortex tattled along behind her as he followed, his eyes wandered around the marbled corridors, suppose be in mountain side, tho his eyes did wandered back to dragoness form looking up and down, she swayed her hip back and forth her tail swaying side to side...he smirked lil thinking how nice it was the other night, he briefly closed his eyes reimaging it, she stopped walking but the doctor didn't notice kept walking forward in his own world.


Steph halted at the exit of the icy corridor but was pumped from behind as the doctor walked into her, she turned to see the doctor displaying red cheeks from embarrassment, he had his mind elsewhere he looked up at with a sheepish grin.


Steph only raised an eyebrow at him, she nodded her head for him to come around her to see the view. "welcome to magic crafters doc"


Cortex took a step around her to come to the view to see.. vast majestic scape of mountains surrounding small valley and a mountain lake, marbled castles and stone carving around cliffs sides. 
From the doctor’s view he could see the odd bearded men in green gowns that looked like they were moving walls and shorted stout armored men waving staffs at each other. 


The Doctor weirdly felt static energy in the air here.. odd sensation like being around a field area of a tesla coil like back in his lab.


Steph bent over to see the doctor looking in awe, but she saw he wasn't even looking impressed but more observing the place.
she frowned,she hoped he would be impressed. "I know it's a typical mountain side home, but may not be as impressive as DreamWeavers floating castles and fairies."


Cortex returned his attention back to her and he shook his head " it's a majestic view...but it just feels.. I don't know how to describe this.. Tingly feeling? "


The Dragoness Smirked Knowing what he was describing “its magic... the mountains surrounding the landscape act like a barrier.. hmm in a way it makes field energy in this place be amplified, why wizards, druids and all sorts of arcane specialists are drawn here. dragons help act a bit like batteries themselves fill the place with a static of energy." she started rambling there describing the place she turned her gaze to see him gazing back at her. "sorry i was.. rambling.. again."


Cortex shook his head " no no.. continue." trying to be polite "you were saying dragons act like a battery?" He was intrigued to hear this.


Steph smiles softly.. she glad she is not boring him there " well..yes.. dragons as you know have massive amounts of chaotic magic, so the way bodies work expels out of us as much as we make it and it has an effect on surrounding landscapes to make amazing things happen. "


Cortex stroked his beard thinking of her words, which sounded interesting " don't suppose this also has an effect on crystals?"


steph smile grew to a grin she leans over close to doctor, she taps her claw finger onto her snout "now your thinking like a wizard doctor"
she smiles a glee of joy he was listening to her, really nice to have someone listen and genuinely acknowledge what she said unlike her peers from Magic Crafters wizard peak.
 “Yes, there’s a strange connection between some power crystals with dragons...a recent event from another villain made it realized to dragons that we can cause strange effect with crystals, its bit of a long story so i’ll keep it short..recently have power crystals we call light gems but some got corrupted by brainwashed elder became dark gems. Always been known that power crystals can manipulate its energy but changing its nature is a new effect, so sagecrafting is a new study these days for dragons of power crystals.” *spyro hero's tail/spyro,a shadow legacy*


Cortex couldn't help letting his mind whirl and let gears of theory spin his mind, he stroked his beard more frequently as he used these power crystals back on earth.


Steph looked fondly at the doctor; he seemed to go deep in thought, watching him in his display contemplation. She was looking over his features and thinking how handsome he looked.
She could just pick him up and nuzzle him right there on the mountain side, a warm feeling blossoming there in her chest looking down at her human.


Cortex mind finishing up the experimental idea in his head, he turned his gaze up to her seeing her stare at him in admiration, such a look made doctor grin she seemed more focused on him he could see.


"hmm hmm, i know the view is tantalizing but i do think mountains far more majestic than my physique" he smirked up at her staring at him.


The dragoness looked away with a blush on her cheeks, she was staring at him too long there, she smirks looking back at him. "Well the view I'm seeing in front of me is so much nicer than snowy mountains, I do think he is majestic in his own way."


Cortex felt flattered, flirting back "this landscape of frost has no compresence to stunning snowy white scales of your beauty,"


She leans in closer to the doctor's face height. " Flattery will get you anywhere doctor" she leans  in closer to his lip, she turns her head and lands a kiss perfectly so she could feel the tickle of his mustache.


Doctor he did not repulse away from the kiss, but gently leaned in, felt lil exposed out open but nobody knew him, let sweet moment sink in and rush warmth rise up, swear he got more warmer he would be melting the snow under his boots.


Two broke from the kiss, the dragoness looked at him fondly. Cortex still lingering in the moment, feeling of rushing euphoria. " You make me harder than a diamond in a blizzard" he mumbled.


Steph couldn't hold herself from giggling at that sentence he softly said. ’You make me harder than a diamond in a blizzard' she knew what it implied and the most flattering thing anyone said about her. 
"doctor.." she placed coy and placed her hand onto her cheek. " not here on mountain side you gonna make me melt the snow"


Cortex gave a soft chuckle. He noticed what he said out loud, but I did explain the whole feelings in a moment.


Steph prompted herself to straighten up her robe "I'm not one to miss out on a good time, but I do hope you save all that beastly energy for later, grrr" she let out lil growl from her lips.


Cortex felt tingle up his own back hearing her there, something inside of him was set off wanting to charge in and drop her over his knee slam a better passionate kiss there... but due to size difference it was not possible to try without someone getting hurt in the process. 


" hmm yes, i'll put the beast away for now " he likes that nickname being called a beast, grinning ear to ear.


It took every fiber not to pounce on this human of hers and show him another good time, she sighs loudly having to wait some time later to show more affection but time was pressing, glad the doctor and her feelings were on the same page." best we keep moving, we need to fly to the next portal for a faster"


"fly?" Cortex asked, before he knew what happened, the dragoness sprouted out gold colored feather wings, he did not see any wings on her the other night so he was surprised to see wings magically sprouted out from her back. He was left in awe seeing this. "whoa"..


"Ooooh so nice get the wings out again" she moans softly, turning her sight to the doctor, he is just gawking in awe at her. " Ahmm.. doctor???"


Cortex just let it sink in, he knew dragons ment be impressive creatures but seeing her in the mountain atmosphere of light  and her wings glistening made the whole effect feel magical, she had more surprises up her sleeve then he thought... Cortex honestly starts to believe dragons were the most beautiful creatures he saw or maybe it was just her.


Steph brought her wings over her as if to cover herself he was staring at her like she was standing there in her birthday suit "Doctor you're making me feel awkward here." visible pink scales flush over her face.


" where?.. Where were those wings???" he tried speaking the words but still feeling flabbergasted from the surprise.


steph she shook her head " it's called compressing, an alteration spell allows me to hide my wings away. "


Before cortex was able speak, dragoness came over to him and scooped him up bridal style into her arms with no falter, putting him into embarrassing scene being manhandled, before protest she went took step off edge of the mountain cliff, making doctor scream in fear, he wrapped his arms around her neck stop himself fall out her grip.


"AHHHHhHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh!!!" all hear echoing around the mountains side.


Steph let herself fall over edge into dive and open wings up to go into glide over magic crafter valley, she winced when doctor screamed into her sensitive ears, cheeky grin came across her face as doctor snuggled tighter his arms around her trying to be sure he did not fall himself.


She glided over scene landscape, passing over wall changing druids, much faster get up to portal archway of ' high caves'... few flabs get some lift up top of the hill side over a charged up runway, she flutter down softly onto grassy snow patch and let doctor down onto his feet.


Cortex was glad to be on the ground again,he turned around to scowl at her "NEVER EVER DO THAT AGAIN!. "


Steph winced at his shouted words but kept cheeky smile there "sorry, i promise ask next time of your permission"


Cortex feeling disheveled by all that, he wiped a hand over his hair and straightened out all frazzled hair from that flight. 
Gave a stinging look back at her she was still giving him a cocky smile, he kept guard up again she did stunts like that on him nearly gave him a heart attack.


Steph came over to him " can't stay mad at me forever.. "


As he was upset with her at that stunt, he walked over making way for the portal to high caves, the dragoness followed next to the doctor and walked through the portal with him.


The two came out on the other side, not much different than being higher up a mountain side, with lot curving side paths going up rock side and some caves.


Steph perked up to make conversation with the doctor.”Hmm you heard stuff about my kind, be nice to hear what humans are like?”


Cortex's mood shifted to a flat expression, humans… he certainly was not a subject he enjoyed discussing.


Memory's of his family past, torment in the circus he had childhood, bullying in school at academy and fellow peers scientists laughing at him.


Steph watched but she did pick up on thoughts he had… she was saddened.


“Humanity.. it's not the best. Humans tend to be cruel towards the fear of differences from each other. Most of the population lack humbleness or wisdom to understand what they have, so tend to be mostly bigotry and racism even if these modern days it's not as bad.” He was very cold discussing this stern outlook towards the mountain horizon.


Steph tilted her head listening, she lent over tap doctor shoulder to get his attention.


Cortex turns to look at her with his gloomy expression. she looked solemnly to him. “Humanity can't be that bad if you're part of it doc” she smiled affectionately towards him.


Doctor looked with a bit of a change of heart hearing that, were Dragons this kind or just her... certainly better than people he had in company back home on earth. “Well guess that I'm a better example... even though I've done some of my own unethical sins.'' he did not delve too much into his past, best not know his past actions if we keep this partnership.


The dragoness sighs softly letting cold mountain air into her lungs "Dragons not so long ago were on a dicing path with racism problems...dragons still take pride to be a 'superior' race above other creatures sadly. caused a devastating effect with the local resident gnorcs leader to turn all elder dragons into emerald crystal statues, i was lucky i was actually working with gnasty that time safe form the outburst." she walked lil forward over the snowy grass she leaned down and picked up some snow. "A Local kid helped free the dragons and has so ever acted as the folk hero and helped unite the realm over past years...so dragons aren't always the best example either on ethical choices. These days took some time to let go of the hate and pride we felt and now we are a much happier society of mixed races. It's probably same with humans, take time to warm up"


Steph was fiddling with the snow in her palm and making a snowball, deciding what to throw at. " Still dragons use animals in unethical animal cruelty today which is causing a farm animal revolution. sheep seem to be used as basketballs for dragons a lot of the time,but I digress, let's move onto the next part of our tour.. First rule is, don't go into the caves while you're here."


Steph proceeds to walk to far right to where a cave was hidden among the mountain stones, cortex follows shortly behind her he looks inside the cave "the caves have metal spiders, may not bother adult dragons or wizards but kid dragons and yourself best not go in."


Cortex gives a skeptical look back at her "I dont think a spider would be a bother..pshh!" He is dismayed thinking why a little spider is so much of a bother.


Steph gave him a look of amusement, she went and tossed that snowball far into the cave, echo in cave as snowball hit rocky floor made good knock sound echo out the cave.


It was Silence there for a brief moment before a stone creature chromatic color shifted, it looked like a large rock when still but it unhinged moved out its legs and came alive moved towards noise, body shaped as a large arachnid creature scuttling into view, large pincers snapping to look for prey made sound.


Cortex became pale yellow seeing the large monster, that's not a little spider.


"That's why you don't go into the caves." She leaned over and patted the doctor on the head. she turned away to walk back out onto grass and turn towards the castle tower above spiral hill.


Cortex turned and followed her away from the entrance cave, following behind but him versus his human legs to dragon legs in walking uphill was not easy to keep up with her, cortex started to wheeze by time he reached the top of the hill.


The castle at the top hill was large and marbled white stone, rim adorned with gold lining and purple tiled roofs, from the view doctor could see on the other side the hill was a site with castles adorning mountain sides... certainly beat his dark gloomy old castle home, dragon realms certain a site of beautiful architecture.


Cortex looked around at the castle in front of them, he turned his attention back to dragoness " is there supposed to be a door?"


The dragoness smirks at him. 
She walked forward and stopped by the castle wall as she tapped a stone, the stone wall started to unbrick itself making an entrance for inside the castle. "There are plenty of secret entrances to the castles.. most main doors are on top cliffs so unless you want to go flying again.. will take a secret way." she smirks knowing the doctor did not like his last flying tour she gave him.


She turned to the doctor as she reached into her gown pocket to pull out a small gold feather pin she made with one her own feathers. 
She leans over to the human and she presents it to him "this is for you, so I don't lose track of you." 


She took it upon herself to put the pin onto the doctor's coat and try not to prick him with it. the pin adorned onto the doctor like a brooch of honor. "The pin is enchanted so I can find you, we are not going back to the thieves' den for the end of day tomorrow, so I'll find you later today once I finish up my motherly duties."


Dr Cortex questioned what she said. He pinched his coat to take a close look at the gift she gave him, a small gold feather in a gold metal brooch manner, he looked back at the dragoness with a confused look "what you mean don't lose me?.."


Steph gave him a look and said why question it "because I'm not your babysitter, your grown adult who can wander and look around to see the view and sites...feel free to look around, don't worry about falling off cliffs here, you'll be picked up by fairies."


Cortex is even more confused with the fairy parts...yes his grown man but still a stranger in these lands and she is going to leave him to wander by himself?


The dragoness rolls her eyes at him, hearing his though "Look doc, my time with my kid means alot to me in these short time together and to bring a stranger into between him and me will not make comfortable situation right now, he is little shy around strangers" she waved for the doctor follow her into castle.


The inside of the castle was wide and vast, this castle had narrow halls of shelves of books, scrolls and paper piles... this part of the magic crafters 'high cliff' was a library to hold knowledge of magic crafters.
 
The castles in the area hold homes for wizards and dragons, some others hold vast corridors like a maze of books.


Cortex followed behind as he stepped over papers and books on the floor, the two weaving around corridors of books shelves. "So you said you grew up here? " Trying to make conversation feel less awkward following behind her.


"yes" steph spoke softly "i was born in Dream Weavers with my father but i grew up here with my Mother"


Cortex raises an eyebrow trying to remember the knowledge she told him the other night of dragon realms.. tho really he had other things on his mind at that time. "yes you said something that other night..ah.. your parents are separated?" felt like a bad question to ask.


"Hmmm, it's complicated  my parents live in two different realms of Dragons realms but stayed together while they had eggs, but since lot dragons busy there duties it's hard stay same realms, my father... he is bit of a ... hmm." She cut herself off speaking of her father harshly even though he was not the subject and spoke often " he is busy in his realm like my mother is busy here in this realm."


Cortex looked away and he sensed there was a touchy subject. " ah.. back to my situation.. so staying here for a brief time..what is there to do?"


"There are plenty of things to do, walk around, look, touch.. go outside and breathe in fresh mountain air, but i suppose those things are boring to a doctor, i mean you're in a magical realm full of exciting things to see and discover on your own... you're on vacation, wandering to your delight and time comes around me to pick you up at the end of the day when my business is done. I'll meet with you and have dinner and sleep and repeat and at the end of tomorrow will return home to the thieves' den." she explained to him while walking.


She halts in a splitting corridor and turns to the doctor to face him. "This is where we split off, feel free to wander, read some the books, take in the scenery, chat with wizards or to other dragons, oh yeah... don't go shooting at any the dragon elders or fairies around here but if druids or wizards want start fight with you..Feel free to use your raygun but not kill them, them guys are mean pranksters.''


She tried to leave these last bit notes with the doctor before she had turned away from him, lil bit of her heart ached having to do so and enjoyed the human with her as a companion.. but it was her special time as mom with her child.


"oh" she spoke up "one more thing, if you run into a dragoness that looks kinda like me but greyer hair and bigger, that will be my mother lithuania, she nice and homely, but if she starts speak about things i did as a kid here..." she grew flustered as her hair puffed up with her looks like embarrassment on her mind what doctor cortex could see " don't believe a word she says.."


Steph leans down to the human and she nuzzles him into his head "just go have fun discovering the realm doc.. and anyone asks what you are, you're a tropic druid got it, best not say your human it might weird out some the locals or worse."


Dr Cortex standing there crossed his arms, the way she was treating him as if he was a child about to go onto day camp, it was nice to be worried about his wellbeing but she acted if he was going to pick a fight. " Should I know anything else.. Mom!? " he said mockingly.


Dragoness cringed at him saying that "sorry but i'm not into age play" she joked at him "and we're not far into our dating to start kinky plays like that yet...'' she mocked back.


Cortex flushed his own cheeks at idea but stepped back he went walk away, best he walked away first "i'll be fine, the advice is taken and yes.. be good time for some alone time on some self reflection and observe the wander of the realm" he brushed a finger through his beard.


 " yes this could make a very nice chapter to Dr Cortex biography.. The adventures of Dr Periwinkle Cortex.." he turned around find she had walked away down corridor in his monologue, he pressed his lips together thinking how rude that was. he went started to walk away down corridor, he kicked pile papers, part of him like idea adventure of scientific discovery in realm.. but a ache held up in his chest she did not want hang around with him, but best leave her for own time, moping feeling he felt was horrible to feel so attached to someone... Was this what they call puppy love?.


Steph walked part way till she turned around and called out, "NEOoo!"


She waited before the little human came back with a skid across the marble floor back at the being called by his first name caught his attention as if it was important to call him back, he looked excited looking down the corridor where she was.


She thought to herself 'did he miss her already last few mins that apart’, she smiled at him she gave her last message for the day “if you see any gems on the floors or grounds here on the mountains, you're free to keep them, finders keepers!" she called as she waved for him to go.


Cortex hair dropped low if was not being called back to her side. Though his hair perked up hear of gems, he seemed to get a bit of a crazy look there with the thought of gems he could actually keep for himself. We went walking off back down the corridor.


She sighed sorrowfully seeing the doctor leave her site, tho that brooch will keep eye on him, she could use crystal mirrors around the place to find him later, she walked down the hall wondering what trouble he would make without her.

Doctor Cortex walked down one the halls but kept looking back behind him in hope see the dragoness was there.. but nope he was alone, he was independent grown man but started feel the ache of the lost company he had now formed a bond with her over the days and actually like spend more time together since well night before was such wonderful evening for him, such affections were a rare for him to experience in his life and wanted have more of it and have the hopeless romantic dreams come a real deal.


A deep sigh coming from his lips he knew he would get time alone together again later but guess it was more important to have space of his own to think over what has happened and straighten out his mind for future plans back on earth he could use from here. 


He started look around the castle corridors, shelves of books and magical items littered around... dragons seem be lil messy with what they had around them.. he lean down picked up a scroll of paper and unrolled it, the language written on the scroll not something he could understand, so he tossed the scroll behind him walked on, boring.


He went to seek out anything else that would amuse him instead of sitting on his sweet sorrows of longing.


After 20 mins of wandering through corridors after corridors looking for something like a door to escape from the maze of book shelves..he turned a corner and tripped over something, with a thump he hit the ground “oof!” He let out, he looked back at what he tripped on. 
It Looked like a log but he then followed trail of it to end had tuff of aqua fur and other end to of a large biped brown dragon who looking down at him… he tripped over tail of large dragon!.


Dr Cortex eyes open wide, this dragon was big, much bigger than the steph the dragoness was, she did say she altered her form but was this how big she was before?, The doctor took a hard gulp of dread placed in his stomach. 


The brown Dragon looked down at the Yellow Wizard that just tripped on his tail, he pushed the glasses on his snout up closer to his eyes, “Do pardon me” the large brown dragon was Cedric of high cliffs, he was mostly a teacher to young dragons there and was stacking up on some scrolls for his next lesson. 


Cedric curled in his tail close to him, he didn't think people were walking around these parts of the library. ”are you alright sir.?”


Dr Cortex got back onto his feet, he was surprised by the dragon manners, guess most are friendly compared to the intimidating physique they had. “Um... Yes, just fine. I wasn't looking, I was going… Finding myself little lost”


Cedric tucked a book and a few scrolls under his arms. “ Are you a wizard for the weekly turf games?.. The door to exit the library is just to the right.” he pointed over beyond the small yellow wizard.


“Oh.. right.. Um thank you.” as the doctor made a quick pace down the corner.


Started to be like a maze library shelves, books and marble pillars till the doctor reached a door finally.. leaving the maze trap behind and out onto a grassy cliffside. 


He sat on the grass, caught his breath and tired of walking for a while.


Cool air in his lungs, fresh scene field flowers grass... looking up into the sky he felt calmed and tranquill, seeming rather quiet where he was.
Cortex able catch he look at scene he was in, grassy patch on cliff surrounded by swirling pathways, his eyes caught  a glimpse of something shining in the grass over yonder, he got up onto his feet again and walked over inspect… laying in the grass was a purple gem, over far right was another with green and blue. 


Cortex's eyes lit up in delight as he picked up the gem and examined it. “So she was right about the gems found around here.” Cortex started picking up gems like it was an easter egg hunt for him through the grass, what he could hold in his arms he carried.


As cortex was walking around he had his sight on the ground before walking up to a pair of shoes in front of him, he looked up to see a long gray bearded man in a green tunic... with a plant growing out of his head, cortex startled by an old man backed away clutching the gems in his arms.


The green druid examining him before he spoke up in a creaky old man voice sounded "say.. what kind of a wizard yar be, not from blue clans, you a new comer? what wizarding clan you from stranger...??"


Cortex gave a blank look for a brief moment, he better think fast " aahh im...yellow clan wizard?" what he thinks at the moment.


The green druid squinted his eyes at the stranger, stroking the long beard .. " hmm... yellow clan wizard...." taking a hard look over the yellow stranger.. he fit being yellow but didn't have any wizard gear on him. 
"What kind of wizard are you, let alone not enough beard... you youngsters have no true value wizarding today."


" I'm from the tropics... too hot for a long beard" as the cortex tries to run along with the lie.


The green druid squinted longer at him before letting out an " ok" believing him to be a wizard. 
" Well you're pretty late for wizard war.... already grouped up and have battle stations already and here you're scooting out in the open with your head in the grass." The green druid shook his head and gave a shrug.
 " oh well we are starting soon, so best you get in position or get hit with lightning bolts by the blues. your right in the middle of our battlefield.. thought best to warn ya. you're in the way."


With that the green druid walked away back to the side of cliffs, using his earth magic to move the floor up like a wall behind him, he shouted out behind the wall " WE GOT A YELLOW CLAN ON FIELD, EXTRA TEAM FOR A FIGHT!”


Dr Cortex pondered as he stood there " wait.. what was that about.. wizard war??"


In a moment a loud horn rang out and there was a bolt of lightning hitting near next to him making the doctor jump back dropping a few gems, far side on a higher hill, and a few blue robed wizards were forming together.. pointing down at him... they started shooting bolts at him.


Cortex now panicking looked around dashing on grass away from wizards attacking him... what the heck this was madness as he looking around for cover, only thing think of was seek the safe castle doorway get out of here as he took a run at castle... but when he got there he didn't find any door and just marble brick wall.


"Where's the DOOR!" panicking around the the wall, he laid hand onto it, he dropped all gems in arms as he padded the wall looking for anything resembled a door, a flash of sparks hit wall next to him and floor, the ground started to shift under him as platform grass rose up, cortex trying keep stand wobbling around made him tumble down to the ground, he scooted back and dashed around bend of the wall and hid himself into corner castle walls.


"this is madness.. wizards war." he had moments to get thoughts together, he looked around the corner just his head looking at the scene. green and blue wizards over the place.. some shooting out lighting bolts and making walls appear. 
it occurred to Dr Cortex this reminded him like a few years back that team up island games with people having battles on the island.(*crash team rumble)


"hmmmmm" stroked his beard thinking, his hand reached for for his belt holster and pull out his raygun, it's been awhile since he on field, seems only way out of this situation was to get rid of these wizards or he was going to be buzzed fried by them.


His fingers switched around on the cog to death ray, snickering there but his smile faded as he remembered the scorecess telling him 'Don’t kill'... with a sigh he moved the cog to morph, at least he had fun turning these annoying wizards into animals and platforms.


Dr Cortex smirked with an evil grin, at least giving him something to do and test to see if his raygun is still in tune.

Somewhere deep into high cliff castles, into private quarters where most the dragons reside within, the hours past by 2 hours since the two went their own ways.


Our sorceress had rejoined her family, crossed legged on the carpet floor, playing with her with her 5 year old son zaran with new toy she brought with her, small line up of sea creature toys surrounded the floor the room.


Steph, using some of her magic skills, helped animated toys into playing around like a puppet, smiling and laughing, enjoying her time she had with her precious little one... though in the back of her mind worried what the human was doing, if he was ok handling himself all alone.


Steph halted her play with the toys she leaned over to nuzzle her son on the cheek "Darling would you give mommy a moment... she needs to go to take a poopy." she smirks making it sound funny.


zaran giggled at his mother using the word 'poopy' zaran “mommy said poopy"


Steph smirked at her son as she stood up on her legs, rubbing her knees as she did "yes mummy gonna take poopy Brake." she announced loudly in the room to make her son giggle more.. The best thing she heard was her zaran happy no matter how unladylike that was.


She walked around to exit the room, her mother.. aka grandmother of zaran and mother of steph was busy writing out scrolls in her work as head librarian of high cliffs, older dragoness looked up softly from her work to eye her daughter coming into the room.. she already hear her daughter's thoughts, having same abilities empath and mind reading. "Are you checking on that human?”


Steph looked back at her mother like she was caught stealing cookies “what!... no no no.... yeah." she scrunch up her face. 
"It's been awhile so best i check if the human hasn't died... mind zaran for a brief moment. this human was an unexpected guest, leaving him alone back at the den was not the best option."


Lady Lithuania looked over to her grown daughter, gave a soft nod to understand her situation.


Steph bowed her head happy "thank you.. wont be long.'" As she left the resident rooms, she dashed to side corridors to some overseer crystals, using a spell to make visions appear. 


It showed the scene outside the castle's grass cliffs of wizards having one of their turf wars, she shook her head seeing this.


“Ok why are we seeing wizards war?, weird… where's??” she held her breath as a flash of purple and one wizard turned into a boar and then another flash and another druid was a crab, came into vision before her was the doctor having dash around the area and hiding behind boulders. He obviously seems to be having a game with the wizards.


She brought hand up to her cheek and leaned into it watching him go around. “ Well did not expect  doc to get into the wizards turf war games on weekends, this is… he is doing quite good out there. Well at least he is making friends? '' she pondered if she should step in but wizards games are not lethal by law… to the doctor.


She will just trust him not to be in trouble. She shrugs and turns off the crystal's visions. “Well at least he's not bored … hopefully having fun by the time I come to get him at the end of the day.”


She heads back to the room to spend her time with her son.

With hours gone by, most grass fields had wizards turn into animals or were laying on the ground stunned. The doctor had been on a roll of dubious fun shooting wizards… though some of them were still out behind boulders on their side zones.


This game turf war had been on long enough, Dr Cortex was actually starting to have fun in this and turning most of those wizards into animals… just like the good old days of rumble.


He was about to aim at a druid when a loud horn blew and seemed to indicate the turf game was over.
the green Druid put hand up with a T pose with his hands.


“Time Up, looks like team yellow won this round” green druid spoke to him and was still in one shape, he marched over to the yellow wizard on field. “ well congrats on winning the first round.. Seems you newbie has a tack for wizard war.”


Dr Cortex took some pride with that and grinned wide “well its all natural talent” he was skilled with his raygun and targeting. He raised an eyebrow to the green wizard “ don't suppose there prizes?”


Green druid combed a finger through his beard and pulled out a leaf. “ Hmmm” he flicked the leaf to the side “right this way…the prize this way chum” the old druid made him follow.


Dr Cortex followed the druid, he was led to the edge of the mountainside and pondered why here for a prize. “Um.. are you sure this is where the prize is… AHHHHHHHHhhh!” Dr Cortex was pushed from behind off the cliff by the green druid. He tried flapping his arms to stop falling but went over screaming.


The green druid leans over the edge shouting out “ sorry newbie… we druids are just sore losers.” he shrugs before walking back over grass away from the edge.


All was quite there on mountainside edge but then a swirl of wind and Dr Cortex was being carried back up over the cliff by tiny fairies, they carried the hyperventilating human back up over to a castle balcony and plopped him down there, cortex clutching his hands over his chest as he leaned down kissing the ground happy not be falling, gritted his teeth if he saw that druid he was not going keep his promise and just vaporize him.


Cortex could hear soft giggling beside him, he turned his head up to see fairies and the dragon sorceress there  leaning on the balcony there next to him.


Cortex's face came rather red, embarrassed he was caught kissing the marbled floor.. As he stood up, straightened up his outfit and put on his best smile. “ How long have you been there?”


Steph smiled softly looking down at the human “ long enough to see the end of the turf war… I see you had fun with the wizards.”


Cortex scrunched up his face in annoyance “ yeah well till they pushed me off side the mountains.”


The sorceress chuckles, she thanked the fairies and let them flutter off back to their duties, she turned her attention to the doctor again “they do that to all that fall for their pranks… wizards are just jerks but they mean it in good spirit, they know the fairies would just catch you.”


Cortex noted she did say something about fairies earlier but he wasn't in the right mind believing in ‘fairies’ to be real... but being in a magic realm he supposed he meant to expect something of weird kind to be here.


The dragoness leaned over the balconing looking out into the serene mountainscape. “ Are you having a good time?“


Cortex just let out a sigh and looked back out the balcony of the view “ honestly…i prefer to be on a beach, drinking a nice tall glass of a cocktail and to big bags of ice for my head..” he skipped out saying the lady with a nice big.. Well we all know the quote.


Steph looked over at the doctor tilted her head “More of a tropical holiday guy huh.. I get it.. Mountains are vast and wondrous but don't beat warm sun and beachside to relax at. Bathing in the sun with naked tits out getting them rays.. Sounds lovely.” she turned to look at the doctor .. his face had shades of orange across it as she chuckled. “I might do that myself when I see wumpa islands. Take my own lil vacation in your own turf.” 


Cortex looked to side with her, cheeky dragoness was sure to make him feel bashful whenever she could. “ well if then i best make a show tour around the islands when you do.. I know a very nice bandicoot free lagoon that would be perfect for sunbathing.”


The dragoness' tail tapped the doctor on the back, she smirked down at him. “ You're hungry for lunch, time I show you the quarters while staying here for the time, there's even some secret hot springs on the mountains here,It's not the beach but they are relaxing and help soothe the soul.“  she gave him a wink.


Cortex contemplated the idea of a hot spring.. Did sound nice. “ hmm i'll take that offer.”


“Then it's a date, tonight some private hot springs and for some hot steamy bathing naked together time hmm” she gave a cheeky smile knowing her tactic again got the human all orange on his face.


Cortex went to his collar tugged on it with a finger, she did say something bathing together the other night… he didn't think they were doing something erotic again that soon, a man like him is not good at handling this kind of attention. “ well.. Um date i suppose it is. You don't beat around the bush of your intentions.”


Steph smiled coyly and spoke up “What intentions doctor… are you accusing me of devious play?.“ she winked at him “I merely have romantic ideas to try out on my new date… is that so wrong to give you a romantic time with me.” she leans down to him wiggling her hips “is it the doctor who has other ideas then romantic intentions now”.


Cortex rolled his eyes but it made his heart thump when she said it was romantic..he did not had someone so intent on having such affectionate attention time with him, he isn't romantic but see she was going pull all the tricks on him.


“Is it so bad I like to spend time with you? I became very fond of you as if i didn't speak of my intention for you then? I'm selfish. I want your affection and attention and I'm wanting to try out these hopeless romantic ideas for you. So yes…is it working?”


Cortex just chuckles. She was a peculiar kind of character, she was a strange but inderaring person… dragon? If a person has the right word to use, She makes him feel so important. Still feel so strange but wanted it badly to have this attention with someone… Jeesh, is he this love starved? He shook his head.


She looked at him and shook her head. “ok so it's settled.” She leaned in and nuzzled her snout into his cheek in the manner how dragons showed affection, she took a step back and did a half turn with her hand on her back smiling back at him and turned and walked to the entrance of the castle, waving him to come.
Cortex stood there staring at her, he rubbed his cheek where the dragoness nuzzled him, he could feel his heart aflutter, could this even work between them.. So different from each other species and yet wanting it so badly to work. 


He took a step forward, he placed his hands behind his back, bit of a skip in his steps again.. Such a fleeting feeling he had, he still denied what it was but…yet so overwhelming.

The Dragonnes had kept the doctor with her that evening for awhile and showed him to a private room where he was going to be spending time, as much the doctor liked exploring… who he was kidding he rather be cosied up in a chair. 


He was able get a away from any annoying wizards and let his cool off, steph had left some lunch supper and books he could read in english and revised over some the biology fauna and flora of the dragon realms and other realms, Cortex did like a good book now then to read, kinda like a school kid again finding the world encyclopedia and reading biology books. 


The room was a marbled and simple room,with wooden chairs, tables, a bed and simple side bathroom with a not so pleasing Squat toilet to use a lavatory. Nothing else than shelves of books for entertainment.


He would rather be in the room just reading through the books for the moment. Certainly fascinating reading the fauna of this realm..didnt think such a vast variety of species were here, fauns, Black Goblins, moleman kobolds, cat people, orcish creatures…some big beasts look interesting for experiment ideas.


Cortex made himself comfortable in a cushioned chair that was rather large.. Guess meant suit to dragon sizes, tho his company with sorceress was only brief time them having quick chat and she put him into room, she wanted her time with her child, The doctor start feel like he was some sort burden to her, he snorted as the Doctor tapped his finger on the book.


In Meantime  he spent hours reading, absorbing as much information as he could if had plans to make use of this time dilemma. Before he knew it, the rest of the day turned to twilight. 


The doctor had spent hours polishing his knowledge of the dragon realm before being bored after three books… he ended up building a book castle of what he had in his room, not like he had a deck of cards so went with what he got. 


The door near him had made a soft tap as he looked up, kneeling on ground using a book to stake a roof onto a book castle before it all collapsed..he grunted annoyed as he looked down the pile of books. 


He got up off his knees and walked over to the door, taking the ring handle and pulling open with effort he could, It was difficult. 


On the other side the door was… little blue dragon, the little blue dragon looked up at him curious and confused.


Cortex raised an eyebrow at this little dragon.. Was this what baby dragons look like, he marked how adorable the little blue dragon was, so tiny compared from what books explain on Adult Dragons.


Little blue dragon spoke up in a Boyish small voice. “ Why are you in my mommys room?”.


Cortex raised his eyebrows at this “your.. Mommys room? … oh.. Oh!”  took a moment to process this was likely the sorceress’s child she spoke of. 


She must have put him in her room when she stays here in magic crafters. “oh.. Um.. I'm your moms friend..???” he spoke softly, he kneeled down to get closer examination of the little dragon… So this was zaran?  Smaller than that purple dragon he remembered long ago. Guess he was younger. “ Are you are zaran? Ur mummy talked about you.”


The little blue dragon stepped back a few steps away from the stranger “ hmmm yes.. But I don't know you sir.. Are you sure one of my moms friends because I don't know you?”


Cortex noticed he alarmed the young dragon, guessing a stranger in his mother's room is frightening to see. “ well.. Your mummy has white scales and lots of colorful hair and maroon.. Um.. pinkish horns right? Yes.. I'm a new friend. Visiting from another realm.”  He tried to make the sound simple enough to the young dragon.

Zaran perked his head up hearing the description of his mother “ yeah that's my mummy… but still” he squinted at the strange… yellow wizard, to the boy he only knew wizards in his home. He looked like them. “ Are you a wizard? I know mummy has a few wizard friends.”


Cortex gave a chuckle amused by the small child, guess he looked like it. “ Well, kind of.. I'm a scientist. I use science not magic like a wizard, im Dr cortex” he placed hand on his chest indicating himself. 


Blue dragon boy still kept his distance from him”… scie.. Scienti.. Tist?, i have heard that from mum. Does that mean you like Sea Creatures!... I Love fish.. Sharks and Octopus.”  He was getting excited telling this person what he likes when a voice rang out in the corridors “zaran!” 


hearing footsteps drawl up from the corridor, staggering out of breath came around a corner looking for her son was steph, she spotted zaran by her room door talking to the doctor, her lips pursed up seeing the two chatting.. She walked briefly over to the little blue dragon and scooped him into arms. “ You Sneak! How do you get past me in grandma's room?”


Zaran giggled as he was picked up by his mother.. He smirked Cheeked “Mommy was DayDreaming.. It was an opportunity and I took it to escape.” he was cheeky.


Steph gave a brief look over to the doctor as he stood back into his feet, he gave her such a bemused look made her cheeks flushed.


She brought her attention back to zaran “ i taught you too well. You weren't disturbing my friend now. Honey, he's busy, this is why I said mummies room was not going to be playing in today" She looked down at the scientist. “sorry doc.. Ah.. hmm i didn't want you to meet zaran just yet but this is zaran.”


Zaran Pointed down at the yellow wizard “And that's mr cortex..” as zaran spoke up for the dr cortex could. 


“ That's ‘Doctor’ Cortex, little champ..  ‘Doctor.’” he spoke up to imply the proper grammer.


“Doctor” zaran spoke up in his mother's arms, he nodded.


“Yes.. so you meet but it's time for zaran dinner and then early bed, didn't even take a nap today.  Excuse us doctor.” she took a standoffish manner at the doctor, she didn't want this to happen but it did. She walked away briefly from the doctor taking her son over her shoulders. 


Zaran looked over his mother's shoulder and waved goodbye to the strange wizard. “ by bye “


Cortex left standing confused on emotions there but waved to lil dragon boy, it seemed his mother didn't want any interactions with him, i mean she meant be protective of her child like any mother be, its natural but seem a bit off way she acted towards him. Made him feel like a…bad guy? stomach turned slightly to that thought.


Steph stopped half way, turned back to the doctor “Doctor.. Im Sorry but I'll talk to you later once I get this rugrat to bed.” She gave an amused look at her son.  


Her son spoke up “I'm not a rat!.. I'M A DRAGON!.” 


Steph shook her head “ are you know.. Could've fooled me if I was sure you were some blue rat? You sneak like one.”  She poked her tongue out at son, but gave a glance over to the doctor looking ambiguous on emotions “ I'll return later with dinner to the room.” she turned to walk down the corridor she came from earlier.


Cortex had a mix of emotions there.. Strange encounter of meeting her son. He patted the knee off any dirt and closed the door.

Later, darkness settled over the mountains. The castle took a more gloomy mystical state.. Torches lighted up through corridors without maintenance of hands being magically and just lighted up.


In the room where Dr Cortex had his fist to his cheek learning over onto a table.


Waiting bored and hungry for dinner, really nothing else to do in the room now finished books and boarded making them into a book castle.


He sighs with obscure thought running through his mind when the tap knock came from the door and it opened with dragonness steph stepping in with tray in hand, she brought the doctor his dinner.


“Sorry im lil late trying to get my son to sleep.“ she stepped over to the doctor at the table and presented him with a tray. The plate had a simple pizza with cheese and sausage.


The doctor eyed the dish with astonishment. “ You Have PIZZA Here!” saying out loud, he thought this just earth custom made food but they had this in their world too.


Steph looked at him oddly as if he asked her if she just turned green “ yeah.. We have pizza here.” she smirks and she lets him take the first piece from the pizza.


The doctor was starving, he took a piece of pizza slice, didn't question the food and took a bite into its gooey cheesy flavor, nice piece of spicy sausage on his tongue was delightful even though he didn't enjoy spicy food. It was a relief from starvation.


He chewed down his meal before speaking. “ I thought pizza was just an earthly concept. This is just a surprise you know this kind of food.”


Steph pondered on his words there, she tapped her cheek thinking of it.. “ I guess with some foods and things being related from different realms even we have not had contact with each other for a long time.. Earth was once connected with this world so there might have been a lot of culture mixed in, sharing the same things with each other, technology, agriculture.. Certainly it will be interesting to see what development of earth has compared to the changes of realms when they got cut off.”


Cortex already took another piece of pizza and inhaled it down. It was an interesting concept. When you Think on it “how long this cut off from the realms.. Sounds like you have history on it.” 


The sorceress went through her memory in books she read on the history of the dragon realm and she tried to find things today on earth she could while spending the time with her son. 


It was a Vague amount since last recording “hmm bout 182 year gap to my math, it's a long time, just more recent events that more magic in realms flowing again make unused portals activate again. Like the one in the thieves den it was inactive… but I guess with me being in the den and the magic flow changed to make it active enough to open when you connected from your side..i did explain that dragons are like overflowing batteries earlier.. But something else on ur side might triggered dimensions to be more active”


Cortex pondered what she said, with many years' events with dimension portaling with tropy’s rift generator  and then dealing with evil Twins and using his own… it is possible this made vale realms more thin. 


“You could say that.. But not with magic. A colleague of mine.. Well ex-college had this thing with time traveling and then more worked into dimension traveling…” he explain times events of *crash 4, *Crash team rumble and *twinsanity fiasco happened, which might cause some rifts here too.


Cortex related how unfortunate it was ” did one point get turned back in time, came baby again and got stuck 20 yrs with that clock fool trapped in a void.”


Steph looked over at him confused. “ what? How does that work?  How old does that make you?”


Dr Cortex pondered there on that thought, he brought up and calculated the time, he was in his late 40s when warped back as a baby, 20 years went by in the void and now has been a few years so now he's in his late 30s again. “Well my mind was still Stable when I entered back to my infant years when it all happened… my mind's age is in its 70s but my body is in its late 30s now.”


Steph was standing gawking at what he said. ”Ok, that's a lot to take in on an empty stomach.” She took her own pizza slice and sat on her bed, munching on her pizza. “That's remarkable you didn't cause a collapse of dimensions and cause the destruction of universes… tho this tropy fella wanting to be a god out all that in spit. Dang!” she gave a look of dismissive nature. 


Cortex was satiated with enough food in his stomach, least able to think straight he crossed his arms, sitting back in his chair with a look now of annoyance coming across his face “by the way.. Why did you dismiss me like infront of your son like i was a bad guy and dont trust me?”  He pouted out of anger there on his face visible to show he felt hurt by her, his hair did a droop in response.


Steph turned looking at the doctor with half a pizza sticking out her mouth, such a mood change in the room with him there putting her on the spot, she was taken back with it. “did i? “ 


Her eyes wandered to the floor thinking back to the scene. 
She looked back at him “Im.. Hmm.. I'm sorry if I made you feel like that, My protective nature comes out when I'm with zaran, gotta understand that i Don't mean harshly on you doc.“ she didn't want to say it but ''i don't know you that long and i just want to make sure things of us and family are taken at a slower pace.. I do trust you while you're here in my presence, but it's still early to say I trust you fully around my son.. this relationship between us just only started.. It takes time to be fully comfortable around you near my child.”


Cortex listened to even his stubborn arrogance and stay angry at her but he demeanor relaxed a lil understanding she just being a mother.“ But still, you made me feel like I was the bad guy.” 


“ I'm sorry.. Seriously” she said,he was touchy about it so suddenly, she will try to negotiate to change his mood, “Would it help if I offer an apology as a nice back massage while bathing in the hot spring.. Is that acceptable in exchange for my disrespect?.” she gave a smile under the bite of her pizza.


Cortex pouted his lips out as his mood swing changed hearing the offer, he side-eye her, his hair lifted up in response, mood easing towards neutral  “maybe..”


The dragoness smirked “your hardball to please, you can rest on my bosoms and I will whisper sweet nothings into your ear.”


Cortex eyes open as shades of orange showed his face..she was just going to use all tactics of seductions on him to make him feel better, certainly going to work. 


Steph just snickered to herself sitting there watching the human change colors.“Look at this as our first lil fight as a dating couple, guess we are making strides in little relationship.” giving head nod.


Cortex just let his temper ease away looking back at the dragoness..she was eager to please him and just keep arguments subtle.


The Dragoness moved off the bed and went to the doorway. She had enough pizza and would like to relax in the hot spring after playing with her son all day. She needed it. “ Come along and we'll get you cleaned up after all that wizard battling you did.. Can't believe you participated.”


Cortex's head turned and he shot off the chair he was on. “Not like I wanted to join.. I was forced into circumstance to defend myself from those bastd..” he caught himself from cussing. “ those wizards.. Then they push me off a cliff!”


Steph chuckles “it was funny to see half them turned into animals… got some revenge for me on them when they pushed me off the cliff for the first time. '' she remarked.


Dr cortex couldn't help but give an evil chuckle, remember it and hear she was too pushed off.. A dragon flies but not him. “Certainly felt good to get back on that field again.. Like my rumble matches I had.” 


Steph opens the door and lets the doctor out the room follow her down the corridor. “ well do tell of your triumphs then doctor.. Rumble?” She let him get in a better mood and let him talk about his moments while walking.


Cortex took pride in his accomplishment even when little ones he won in rumble matches, he started to tell his side as they walked, being guided along the way by her.


After a steady walkaround castle corridors and up a flight of stairs…they reached a door in afar back the castle, open out to cliffs higher side mountains caves. 
These caves were abandoned by giant spiders long ago and were reused for springs that bubbled up from old magma vents, some of the mountains were dormant volcanoes.


Cortex was finishing up explaining his match against another team when they reached the hot springs she mentioned, it looked like an underground cave refurbished into baths. 


A hole in the ceiling showed stars and moons… moons? The Dragon realm showed two moons in view, a rather beautiful site in a cave pool, steam rising up from the Blue aqua water in the moonlight. “Wow” as Cortex let out under his breath, the Dragon Realms still have more to show the beauty of its sites.


Steph pulled up behind the doctor with some towels in her hand while he was staring at the pools.. “ It's a site huh.. Nicest thing about living on the mountainside of old volcanoes… get hot springs in these old caves.”


Cortex took a towel from her after breaking away staring at the scene. “Thank you…there are no spiders?”


Steph shook her head “No, they moved down lower caves long ago.  The Caves up here are empty.” she went to the side of a stone carved rock wall, it was chiseled out to be like shelves, she started to disrobe her wizard gown.


Dr cortex turned away, an act of shyness came over him like a teenager again even already saw her naked. Just his gentleman side taking the respectful move. 


He heard her step into water a moment later with a splash, he turned to look as she was chest deep into the water and sitting on a stone floor. She looked up at him with a hand gesture for him to come join her. “ Are you coming in or are you just going stand there and look?.”


Cortex staggered to remove his clothing in front of her, but he went to the side and looked over his shoulder back at her.”um.. Mind not looking?”


She pursed her lip into a tight smile and she went to cover her eyes with her claw hands “after what we already done you're getting shy about showing me your body.“ her ears perked up hearing the water shift a moment later and a  ‘ooh’ from the human as he stepped into water. 


She peaked through her hands and saw the doctor sitting at the edge. Waying himself down into water with ease ” am i allowed to look”  she playfully asked.


Cortex shifted onto the rock next to her and felt embarrassed by it. Adult man himself  was already seen in the nude by her, it still felt abnormal to be in company when used to bathe alone. “You may”


Steph took her hands away to look at him and gasped softly “Oh dear… it's a naked human! Le gasp” she acted offended place a hand over her chest, Joking playing act see make doctor smile.. She could see him rolling his eyes.


she giggles in her playful manner. “You don't need to be shy, I like what I see.” she wiggles her eyebrows at him.


Cortex Able to relax in warm waters. ” I'm just not.. Used to intimate situations.. It's been a long awhile since I had such things.” to fact this kind of thing never happens for him. He fidgeted on the spot he looked up at her lingering thought in mind. 


“um.. Look I don't think..im Up to anything.. Intimate tonight.. It's been awhile like a said.” he wasn't sure this would lead into more sexy time for him, he didn’t want to disappoint her this was going lead into more for them tonight.
