Chapter Four Sarabi, Sarafina, Nala and Indigo were huddled around the watering hole, which was now all dried up. “Be careful Nala.” Sarabi said, keeping her voice low. Nala nodded. “I'll come with you.” Indigo said. Ever since last night, she had wanted to do all that she could to stop her father. Nala shook her head. “No sis. You have to stay here, with mother and the other lionesses.” Indigo wanted to protest, but she knew better. She looked down at her paws. Sarafina walked up to Nala, and gave her a nuzzle. “Remember, if you're not back in two days time, we'll send a small search party out for you.” Nala nodded. She was given sympathetic looks from both Sarabi and her mother. She noticed Indigo, and gave her a small nudge. “Hey, it'll be fine. Besides, you can stay here and help with the rebellion.” Indigo looked up, and gave Nala a smile. “Good luck, sis.” she said. Nala winked, and turned away, quickly running off into the distance. The three lionesses watched and waited, until they could no longer see her. Sarabi closed her eyes, breathing out slowly. She turned to Sarafina and Indigo. “And now we wait.” she said. The next day passed, and it felt as though the PrideLands was holding it's breath. Scar held a meeting with all of the hyenas. It seemed as though he was planning something big as well. But nobody could guess what it was. The only one who seemed to know anything was Zira, and she was as helpful as an antelope with a broken leg. She rounded up the lionesses with a small smirk on her face. “You've all been given orders from Scar to stay at the base of Pride Rock.” she said. Sarabi cocked her head to one side. “And what about you and your clan?” she asked coolly. Zira laughed. “We can do whatever we please.” she said as she wandered off. Sarafina looked over at Sarabi, waiting for her to say something. Sarabi just shrugged. “I don't know what that madman is planning.” Sarabi said. Indigo looked down, she wished that she could do something...something to prove to everyone that she didn't agree with what her father was doing. During the next afternoon, Sarabi, Sarafina and Indigo were all together, trying to keep themselves away from the rest of the pride as possible. “She still isn't back.” Sarafina said. “Don't worry, she has until tonight to come back.” Sarabi said, putting a paw on Sarafina's. Indigo looked up, and could see the hyenas on Pride Rock, cackling as they always did. A few hours passed, and Sarabi noticed how sickly everyone had become. Nobody had the energy to even sit up. Indigo was the only one who was still awake, even Sarafina looked weaker. Sarabi growled, and lifted her frail body off the ground. “That's it, I have to talk with Scar.” she said. Indigo tried to stop her. “Sarabi, you don't know what he'll do to you!” Indigo said. Sarabi smiled at her. “Oh Indigo, I'd rather him hurt me than take all the pride. Besides, it's what Mufasa would have done.” She slowly made her way up Pride Rock, and Indigo noticed how skinny she had become. That's when Indigo realized Scar's sick plan. She looked around the pride. He was trying to starve them out. If they were to die, then Scar could make Zira and her clan his pride. He wanted to start over, make a new era. Indigo was about to go up herself, when all of a sudden, Nala came rushing up to her, out of breath. “Nala?! What is it?” Indigo asked. Nala panted, and spurt out what she had to say all at once. “Simba! He's back! And he's going to challenge Scar!” she said. Indigo shook her head, not sure if she heard right. “What? But I thought...” Indigo looked up at Pride Rock, stunned. “Come on! Help me round up the lionesses! He needs our help!” Indigo nodded, doing as she was told. But, if Simba was alive, then how come Scar was king? Where was Mufasa? Indigo's mind was rushing, but she didn't have time to think. Quickly, she got her answers. And they were all too much for her. Scar, her own father, was a murderer. He was the one who killed Mufasa. And just like that, it turned into lioness against hyena. Even Indigo joined the fight. This was her chance to prove herself. She swatted a few hyenas away, throwing them over the edge. Somehow, she made her way up to the top of Pride Rock, when a huge lightening bolt hit the ground. She looked down, and saw Scar trying to make his escape. Simba was looking for him. “Simba! Over there!” she yelled. Simba looked up at her, then noticed Scar. He ran off towards him, when another lightening bolt hit. This time, a fire started below Pride Rock. The PrideLands were so dry, it was a perfect scenario for fire. Indigo sniffed the air, rain would be coming down at any second. She closed her eyes, trying to get into a zen state of mind. But just as she was about to rejoin the fight, she noticed Simba flinging Scar over Pride Rock, down towards the flames, and the waiting hyenas. “No!!!” Indigo yelled, at the same time when a roar of thunder echoed overhead, and a flood of rain burst through the clouds. Indigo made her way down, just as Simba was making his way up. All the lionesses nuzzled him, and Rafiki pointed towards Pride Rock. Simba slowly walked up, but stopped at the base, and turned towards Indigo. She held her breath. Did he know who she was? He gave her a hug. “Thank you.” he said softly, and looked over at Nala, who nodded. Indigo smiled. Obviously he knew. But where was Zira and her clan? Indigo looked around, and saw that they were over by Scar, mourning him. Indigo shut her eyes tightly, and looked back at Simba, who gave out a loud roar. Indigo waited while the other lionesses roared their approval. Should she? Could she? With her being Scar's own flesh and blood, was she allowed to accept Simba as king? Indigo thought about it, and when the last roar sounded over the PrideLands, she joined in with the others. It was time to put the past behind her, and move forward, into an unknown world.
