Scars & Stripes Poem by Sharako William Lail Siefferman 2-27-09 Art Š Werepuppy The day of manhood came Like the sharp blade of a sword Battle done in the heat of the savanna The shimmer of the metal on the young boy The Juvenile Hyena forced to do battle With their sworn enemy The Lion unsuspecting of what the day would yield Sitting by the waterhole, Proud and Strong Showing off his masculine body Hoping to attract a mate, and start a pride To continue the species The Hyena took the Lion off guard. Grazing the lions side Crimson leonine blood flowed to the ground Perpetuating the feud that had started before the beginning of time The Lion swiped back with his claws Raking the Hyenas face, almost blinding the young boy The boy undeterred by the claws, swung with his might The Blade stained with the blood of innocence Sliced hard into its foe, consuming the life of the gentle beast The Hyena returned a man, killer of the innocent
