Sibling rivalries were normal for any family. Siblings fought. It can's be helped. But Josh never expected it to be on this scale. Josh had a younger brother named Mayson who was rather illogical and perverted, not to mention that he only put in about 50% of the work he did. And yet this time, Mayson was putting in his all in order to try and defeat his older brother. Josh wasn't necessarily concerned about whether he lost or not; he'd be fine with either outcome. But he was concerned like his mother and father about how Mayson would represent the family if he were to win. This was one of those situations that Josh felt himself in: a rock and a hard place. * * * "So..." Terry Fox, Mayson and Joshua's father, began to speak. She was a well known journalist when it came to amateur contact sports, and she often covered the circuit that her two sons were a part of. "So what?" Joshua asked. "Mayson, what would you do if you were to become...champion?" Terry asked. "Well, maybe I would go wild," Mayson chuckled. "Wild like how?" "Why is it your business?" Mayson asked. "Don't talk to your mother like that," Tyson, their father said. "I know you and mom don't want me to do it," Mayson said under his breath. "You want to do it just to do it," Tyson said. "Being a champion merits a lot of responsibility." Josh remained quiet, not wanting to involve himself any more than he already was. "And you think I couldn't hold that responsibility?" Mayson questioned. "Well, you can get kind of...crazy sometimes..." Terry explained. "You just need to know how to act and compose yourself as one. I know Josh would be fine with giving it up to you--" "I don't want him to give it up to me. I don't need hand outs," Mayson said. "I'll beat him on my own terms." There was an awkward silence before Tyson spoke. "He's still a better champion than you would be." Mayson stood up quickly, an enraged look overcoming his face. "You think he's better than me?!" Mayson interjected. "Why do you have to always treat him like the promised child?" "Because you never try. You always slack off, and you always screw around, and you never train like Josh does." "But I have been! I've been working my ass off so I can do this! Why can't you just believe in me this once?!" "Because you're a lazy slacker insecure fa--" Josh stood up, as he had finally heard enough. "Just chill out, you guys." "Oh, here comes the promise child, here to save the day," Mayson said crudely. "I'm trying to defend you!" Josh said. "I don't need your help! And I sure as hell don't need it to beat you into next week." And with that, Mayson stomped off. * * * Josh was not sure how to feel as he sat in the locker room preparing for his fight. He still wanted to have his brother succeed, but on the other hand, Mayson rejected his help and even insulting him made him a bit upset. He almost felt as if Mayson was just doing this to spite him, rather than to take the championship and hold it. Either way, Josh knew that he had to give it his all and not let his brother win, since that was his wish in the first place. He opened his bag, and began to take off his pants, they dropped to the floor, and he sighed. He then pulled off his underwear, and pulled his red speedo out of the bag, He pulled it on, and it gripped to his body. He wrapped his hands with tape, and then pulled his red boxing gloves out. Then, he heard a voice from outside. "You have five minutes before you have to be at the entrance," The voice declared. "Alright," Josh replied, and he fit his gloves on. * * * ROUND 1 The bell rang suddenly, and Josh was prepared to decimate his brother. It wasn't a personal feeling, but rather his instincts. Whatever it took (without being cowardly or playing dirty, of course), Josh wanted to defeat his brother. Mayson, wearing a gray speedo and gray boxing gloves, rushed at him, and loaded up an overhead right. Everything seemed to slow down for Josh as he examined the situation. An overhead punch was an extremely effective move--that is, if Josh were out on his feet. It was a very obvious move, and to use it this early in the match was suicide. Josh shot off a quick right jab to Mayson's nose, sending his head back and interrupting his attack. He rebounded shortly, and sent a small uppercut to Josh's stomach. Josh blocked it, and immediately clinched his brother. A clinch was a move that was normally used to give each fighter a break outside of the minute the seconds gave them. But this time, Josh would use it to inflict damage to his younger brother. He began to hit him with small jabs to his stomach while holding onto him, making Mayson cough and choke as they dug into his gut. Mayson finally pushed him away, his stomach appearing slightly bruised. As Mayson looked up, the only thing he saw was his older brother's red glove as he hit him with a left cross, a right cross, and then a right uppercut, sending him into the ropes. He got tangled in them, and that's when Josh saw the opportunity to end the fight early. He rushed at Mayson, and that's when Mayson untangled himself and went on the offensive. He charged at Josh, and in response, he hung back. Mayson stopped in his tracks as well, and gave Josh a crude stare. * * * "You don't know what kind of trouble you're in," The commissioner of the amateur circuit said. "I did what I do every other month," Josh said. "But everyone thinks you were being disrespectful. They thought that you should have tried to go a little bit easier on Mayson, you know?" The commissioner said. "They want you to give up the title." "...tell me the real reason." The commissioner sighed. "They think...you're homophobic." Josh facepalmed. "Are you fucking kidding me?" "No, I'm not. They must've figured out that Mayson was gay--" "Well of course they did! Mayson has been trying to fuck every other gay guy in Elyria, and when he's not whoring himself out, he's pushing it in everyone else's faces!" "Just calm down." "Calm down? I mean, I'm bisexual!" "And you prefer girls." "Well, yeah, I mean..." Josh just sighed. "So what am I gonna do?" "I don't know," The commissioner said. "I could fix some things, but it might take some doing." "I have tried to help my brother at every turn, and he does this to me. I don't care what you have to do, he isn't going to take being champion as serious as I have for the past 6 months." The commissioner sighed. "There's a boxing clinic all the way in Brisbane. It's kinda prestigious. If you could bag that during their current period, it might build your credibility back up." "I'll do it," Josh said. Josh had never feel as angry as he had been feeling in that moment. He knew that Mayson was rather shameless, but this was a new low for him. If Josh wanted to be viewed as a respectable champion again, he would have to complete a simple task. But Josh would soon come to find that it would be anything but simple.
