it is a bipedal creature whose basic state is almost featureless -- totally smooth, medium grey skin, a little clammy, no hair of any kind; no fingers or toes; two rather flat eyes with clear white sclera (no blood vessels), pale grey irises, and either no pupils at all or just pinpricks; an extension of the lower face suggestive of a snout or muzzle but totally rounded and with no openings.

When it has reason to, it can form slits from which pale pink fingers or toes extend (no nails). If the digits are extended for a long time, they begin to fade to its basic medium grey. Likewise genitals (yes, sorry) in one of three forms -- a penis that is uniformly smooth & pale pink, lacking veins, glans, etc; a similarly-simplified vagina (no inner labia or clitoris); or a pair of long, thin, prehensile extensions on either side of a cavity (these would wrap around the extensions of another of its kind before entering each other's cavity, if there are any others of its kind).

it never has a mouth. it never consumes anything.

it can reverse its front and back sides by reshaping its hands and feet; muzzle smoothing out and emerging on the other side; eyes becoming suffused with the medium-grey of its skin before smoothing out and emerging on the other side.

its behavior is erratic. it will sometimes appear to demonstrate goal-seeking behavior, or interest in another creature (or inanimate object), but never for very long. it has been observed halfway through the direction-reversal process with front & back of head both half-formed, hands and feet on left side pointing in the opposite direction from the right, turning around in place for days on end. it has a tendency to blink its upper eyelids separately from the lower ones, though left and right are usually synchronized. it will sometimes press the side of its face against things, although it is not known to produce a scent or to have any sensory organs there.
