Part 4 Storage Room Gentoe ran faster than he ever had before, even with a slight pain coming from his left foot. He quickly turned down the hallway as Link, his older brother attempted to catch him from behind. He too turned the corner and kept his presence known. Gentoe knew his brother had taken a bad fall when they both leaped from the small panel window. Link gave a slight limp as he ran, but it didn't affect his speed it seemed. He knew he couldn't out run him, so he had to think fast. Down another corner, he ran through an open door which leads into a large storage room. Dozens of tall, open metal racks reached almost to the ceiling laid in neat rows, and packed with supplies and equipment that Gentoe didn’t understand, nor ever seen before, but he didn't have time to admire the gear. Using his smaller size, he ran under the first rack shelf to the other side. Link attempted to do the same, but after his head slid under, the top of his shoulder smacked against the edge. He was too big to crawl under. "You sneaky little mischief! You so going to get it when I catch you!" Link said as he had to back up from underneath the shelf. Gentoe leaped onto the second storage rack on top the second shelf and started to climb. Higher and higher he went, till he was at the very top shelf. At least up here he was safe from his brother. Link came over and looked up. He couldn't believe his brother would trapped himself like this. It would be too far to leap to the next row, and if he did try as he could get seriously hurt if he misses and falled. "I should fall it" Link brain was working today, he was glad. He went back to the rack from before and opened a small tool box on the bottom shelf. He remembers what a tool box looked like from lessons by the caretaker doing skill exercises from before. He found an ion power screw gun and its power cell incased. From what he could recalled, these much modern tools don't used an ancient technology called batteries anymore, although the caretakers still called them as such once a while. Something about the cells able to store pure, raw energy instead of using chemical reactions for the energy to be produce, and here he thought Mink was the nerdy one of the pack. Each rack was held down by only a few screws into concrete. He was sure he could pull them up. The screw gun has tremendous torque at full output. As he went over to the first leg, Gentoe was left to ponder his next move. He knew he couldn't jump, and climbing back down would just let Link catch him. At first, he thought coming up here was the safest route, but now he was trapped. He mutters angrily, calling himself a fool. "Now what should I do?" He asked himself, thinking of the options available to him. That until he heard some sounds from below and he peer over to see what's his brother was up to. He watched Link, taking the screw gun and started to unscrewed the bolts from the floor that held the open metal rack up. "No don't!" He cried for him to stop after the screw came loose and felled to the floor. Link went over to the next one. "Please stop, you're going to make me fall!" He screamed from terror. "That's the plan." He said with an evil grin, and quickly the second screw also came undone. After that, Link tosses the screw gun aside and backed up. He was going to charge at the shelf. Gentoe embrace the top rack, not knowing what else he could do. "LINK!" The rest of the pack finally caught up just in time. Link looked back to see Moko, Mieka, Mink, and Kisely running down the hallway into the room to join them. "I got him guys, he isn't going anywhere now." He boasted. "How he get up there?" Asked an confuse Moko. He looked up to see his timbering son holding on for dear life up there. "He climbed it, but I'll get him down." Link said, and then charged at the metal rack before anyone realized what he planned, nor could stop him. He leaped in full sprint, and slammed his body into the side of the second highest shelf. The thin bar supports that were still screwed in failed under the weight and momentum, and the rack toppled over with Gentoe on top. "Link, Gentoe!" Mieka cried, as she could only grab Link by his forearm and pulled him away as a large heavy box felled right where he just stood, spilling equipment among the floor. As she pulled Link away, Gentoe leaped in mid air over to the next rack, one shelf down as the first crashed into the next. The second rack supports bended and cracked as well, but it held. Link pulled his arm free. "Hey that hurt!" He said rubbing his foreleg. "You should be thankful I haven't done more!" She shouted back. Link shivered by the remark. He remembers the first time that she did before. The painful reminder coming back into his mind was unpleasant. "Guy's Gentoe ok!" Mink said. Kisely gasped from that relief thinking this nightmare could be over. The others looked up. "Hold on Gentoe, I'm coming." Moko said, but by the time he started over, the legs on the second rack finally gave way, and that too started falling. Gentoe again had to leap just before that rack collided into the next, and the third rack also given way. Again and again, they felled like dominos with each topping over onto the next in line. Each time Gentoe had jumped onto the next rack one shelf lower until the 6th when Gentoe missed the 7th rack, and felled off down to the floor. The 6th crash into the 7th, and the last one felled more slowly. Luckily Gentoe fall was short, and landed on his feet this time. Still aware that he was in danger, he hopped away as a large heavy chest felled where Gentoe was just standing at, producing a loud metallic thud. The 6th shelved reminding junk started falling around him as he made sure none of it was going to hit him. The 7th rack supports were twisted, but this slowed its collapse. Gentoe checked himself to see if he wasn't hurt, and he saw his family were also relived he wasn't as well, but when he turned back, he saw his way out. A door with a bar handle was ahead of him that he haven't seen earlier. As he just became excited of still being able to escape, the 7th rack supports finally gave way and it started to fall. Without thinking he bolted under the falling rack, and ran in front of its path to the door. Link saw this, but now he wasn't angry. After seeing that chest almost crushed him, and then another almost doing the same to his brother, he became as frightful as the rest. His resolve to get back at him faded, and now he was worry for his safety, but he still given chase. He needed to stop him from endangering them all. Perhaps if he could get close enough to him and say he was sorry for making him run away, he would finally stop. "Link, I told you to stop this!" Mieka screamed yet again, but with no effect. Mieka couldn't catch him in time, and the others prompted to run after him as they wave and wobble past the fallen supplies that now laid scatter across the floor of the room. The 7th rack contents slid off their resting place and started to fall from above. Gentoe ran left and right, dodging the falling items which looked more dangerous than before. Items like hooks and hollow bars, to bulky equipment and large chests. Than the last shelf crashed against the wall, the rest of the supplies fallen at once. One of these supplies was a loaded spear gun, which was now swinging from the top where its harness was caught. Motions release the hold of the strap and the gun felled to the floor. Just as Gentoe pushed the door open and ran through, the guns slammed into the ground, and slightly jump up from momentum. It was then that the gun fired its harpoon. Gentoe was just though the door as it started to closed back behind him. Link was way ahead of the pack, almost by the 7th rack as the others tried to catch up, when the harpoon struck inside the beaker box by the door. At first, sparks and high screeches echoed inside room. Link and the others stopped by this sudden new danger, but before they could understand what was happening, the box exploded. It wasn't a fire ball or a massive pressure wave like an explosion they thought happeneds with the terminology, although they did felt it. A small electric magnetic pulse slammed through room. Part of it went through the nearly closed bar door Gentoe just ran through which still had a small opening, but the rest of the roomed was filled, and put pressure throughout the area. The pulse went through the Darjeets, a strange sensation of energetic quivers ran throughout their bodies. It was strong enough that they had to crotch as the rigging and shock was too much to bear. Link didn't realize at first, but he was screaming for it to stop, so were the others, but as soon as it had started, it stopped. All the adjacent lights were out and darkness claimed the room for the night. "What just happen, my body felt like bursting!" Mink cried out. But he wasn't the only one. Kisely was still screaming. Mieka and Moko huddle together. Link was rolling over the ground in a vain attempt to make it stop. It did after a minute though. When the energized felling was gone, Link was strong enough to get back to his feet and continue his pursuit. Despite feeling horrible, he reached the bar door and pushed it open. He peered out down the hallway. Gentoe was gone. "Gentoe!" He yelled for him, but no response came down the darken hallway. Feeling defeated, he went back over to his family. Moko was the second to recover enough as he was helping the rest up to their feet's. "He. . .he got away guys." He said bitterly. Mieka ears were still ringing as her vision recovers, just enough to see Link in front of her. When she did, she reached out despite the unpleasurement's, and grabbed his right ear fin, pulling him hard towards her. "Do you know how angry I am with you right now?" She said, with a great effort to hold back her temper. Link was then pulled up by his ear, now in the air and was face to face to his mother. Link sorry expression shown clearly in the night; knowing he was in deep trouble. All four of his limbs pulled tightly against himself. "I stopped Mom, I wasn't going to hurt him, I swear I wasn't." He said scornfully. His eyes started to water. He wasn't faking it this time. "I guess so, but now we're all in trouble from this." She said as she finally put Link back down. She looked at the storage room. It was trashed now, and the noises this caused, anyone nearby would have heard it, even with the raging storm tonight. She didn't know what she could do though. "We should perhaps go back to the cage, and wait for the caretakers to return." She finally said. "We can't let Gentoe run away. We got to go after him." Kisely replied in protest. "I agree. He's in just as much trouble as now are we. It's up to us to fix this." Moko said. Mieka blinked with surprise. The authority demonstrated by her mate finally started showing for once. That's the good old Moko she felled in loved with. "I saw a map earlier of the building layout on one of the walls." Everyone turn to Mink, as he sat there in thought. "If we go back there and take another look, we can understand the size of the Aquarium and know where Gentoe might had run off too. The building big, but I can bet all the door going outside will be lock. He isn't going to get out by himself.' He said. "Then let's go back there and study it." Mieka said finally. They follow Mink out of the storage room back from which they enter. Link was the last in the room though. He looked back to the barred door. He still wanted to go through and give chase, but he nearly got everyone lost and going now would just guarantee it. It was scary out here, much more than tale's of adventures he was told from before, that another famous Darjeet had endure. He wished he never even had picked up that screw gun now. Reluctantly, he followed the rest, but not before giving one last look back into darkness. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ He ran, and ran. Turning corner after corner. He didn't know where he was heading to, as long as he got away from his family, and whatever was that horrid sound and slight tingeing was. Before he realized it, he pulled open some large door and closed it behind him. Ducking down, he listened for signs of pursuit, but after a few minutes he heard nothing. Well he did hear things, but from the inside. Gentoe shakily peer into the dark room he found himself in. He didn't know what could be in here, but from a few areas snoring was heard, and silent sound of breathing filled the room. The wind and rain seemed stronger than from before now, muffling most of the sounds of slumber. The room was too dark to see what's was inside, but a single lamp light shined here behind a large cage, and something was behind that light. Two small glimmers of reflected light bouncing off something watery that could be seen just out of sight. Gentoe was afraid, sticking by the door not knowing what he should do, or even attempt to speak to it. Than the thing behind the light blinked, and he jumped from shock. It was something alive, and awake. Shaken, he hunched down, hoping he hasn't been seen coming in. "I can still see you pupling." It said. Gentoe jumped again. But he still didn't move. The two eyes that produce that deep grandfathering voice finally walked into the lamp light. Gentoe own eyes widen from the disbelief. "No he couldn't be. . .” He said mutely. "They call me Oscar, and who by the Dragon's are you young pup?" The Old Darjeet asked.
