Part 2 Clinic Gentoe couldn't believe that his own brother would just attack him like that, over a stupid ball. The fact he done so, and no one helped him when he needed it was causing him great anguish. Even with Shinda Gone holding him closely, like she would with a child, haven't made him felt loved, nor gain warmth. He felt cold. . .very cold. As they walk through the strange corridors and hallways he never even been through before, Gentoe couldn't help but to start thinking that perhaps, his family doesn't want him in the pack after all. They always seemed to hold him back from everything. His mother Mieka told him it was to protect him from harm, but all he ever wanted to do was to play with the others. But his older brother's Link and Mink never let him because they think he ruined their own play time, and all he just wanted to do was to join in. He couldn't even talk to his father Moko. He tends to sleep around most of the day, and when he is up and about, he would just play with them instead of him. The only person that even talks to him was his big sister Kisley. Even then, why should she anyhow? Can't she see he's worthless to them as he can't do nothing right? "Here we are, you're safe here." Shinda Gone said to him as they finally reached their destination. Gentoe didn't care too much where he was being taken too, as long as it was away from his family, but to his horror he now wished he was still at the corner in time out. The room they entered is filled with blinding lights, and Gentoe found it hard to adjust to them, but he could see that he was being set on a large metal table with a thin cloth drape across it. Gentoe footing was loose and all he could do was laid there flat, horizontal on all his legs, and trembled in fear. But then as his eye's came into focus, he saw what it seem to be another Darjeet, another of his kind standing there at the corner, but he knew from fact he wasn't an Darjeet, despite he look exactly like him. This creature standing before him, over 1 foot taller than Shinda Gone has five things that told him he wasn't one of his own. One, is that he stands and walk on two pair of legs. Gentoe still couldn't comprehend how this was even possible for Humans without having trouble balancing. They always seem so weird to him, but now seeing another bipedal species before him makes the universe stranger still. The second feature is that his head didn't have horns. Gentoe wouldn't know why now, but it was in part of the Boogle Seal biology. It was the frontal nose horn they have. Their DNA helped reintroduce the horns back into the Darjeet, where the person before him had lost in evolution. Thirdly, their skin was scaled, as his skin was bared. Plus he didn't have a white underbelly, as Darjeets have from neck to tail. Lastly this creature was wearing clothes like the Human was. This was what help Gentoe finally realized who he is, a Gerinsi Water Dragon. Whoever this fellow was however, he didn't like what they were about to do to him. He sat there, listening and pondering his next move. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ "How's the 2 Boggle Seals doing?" Shinda ask his fellow Water Dragon biologist Kaimana. "They doing ok, but we both know they're getting older. Still wish the other three we managed to rescue had survived from before." Kaimana still know all too well the day the alarming news came to them. The day where thousands of Boogel Seal bodies washed up upon their shores, where they found their staple food, the Margeti Fish developed neuron toxins on their skins, the day when the Seals would become an endanger species. Despite all they done trying to save them, they only manage to capture five of them out from the wild. Three of them sadly had eaten a small amount of the fish before hand, which was more than enough to be fatal. That was over 25 years ago. Now the fish run rampant, and no predators can eat them without getting sick. The Seals were however the only thing that seemed to be most susceptible to the toxin, but the food chain hole had left the ecosystem in havoc. If it wasn't for the Water Dragons resistance to the toxin, as they could eat the fish without being posion and also helped come up with the idea of the Darjeet program, they wouldn't know what they could have done. Now the last known par of Seals lived within these walls, and despite their plight which had brought the Zashara Aquarium an massive increase of visitors, and well revenue, they knew that the species will die along when this par dose. If it wasn't for the problems of the Darjeet wanting to live carefree lives, this mess could have been addressed years ago. But demands for them to be study first had halted the program original goal in favor for study. "At least we finally got more head way into this." He said finally breaking the silence. "Most of the Darjeet's we started to feed with the toxin laced fish is going well, and all the others seem to be not affected by it, even after eating a lot of them in one session." "That's good news as any." Shinda said still seeming depressed as they got to work. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ "Wait, what did the Water Dragon just say, that they been feeding us toxins?!" Gentoe said to himself. Even though he was only four months old, he knew what poisons were, and the fact that the red, golden fish they been feeding them are poisonous had made him felt sick. He now knows he couldn't trust these Humans or Dragons anymore. He watched carefully on what they were planning for him, and calculated his escape. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Shinda Gone started to go though cabinets as Kaimana study the little Darjeet. To him, he seems to be doing quite well. In a year's time he would be three times the size that he is now, perhaps just as big as his father Moko. Gentoe was watching the Water Dragon just as carefully back at him. He knows that the Darjeet was just as curious about him as he was, as they both look alike. In fact this would be the first time little Gentoe had seen his species. But he notices that the little guy was also terrified. This was quite an unusual behavior. All the other puplings that came to the clinic before were happy and wanting to explore the little room, but this one flinched when he came closer. He wanted to ask him why he was scared of him and Shinda, but before he could, his boss had came back over. "Let's get this done." She said sighing while putting on gloves. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Gentoe shuddered as the Human came back, but it wasn't the fact she seeming to want to do something important, but rather that he realized it was himself that she needed to work on. It was the bottle in her left hand, and the sharp point metal object in her right that given him the idea. A needle he remembers his older siblings calling it. They told him horror stories about them, how the Humans and Water Dragons would use them to stick the needed inside their bodies to extract their life giving energies. Too bad they forgotten most of those details as it was needed to be done to see if they were healthy, and it was blood that they were going to take, not his life. He was so focus and terrified of the needle, he had forgotten about the Water Dragon behind him as he came over and put his hands on top of his back. This motion made him jump from shock and without realizing it at first, he bolted. Kaimana attempted to stop him as Shinda stepped back from the Darjeet sudden leap. The Water Dragon reached for him, but Gentoe jumped off the table and landed on the floor. Kaimana then fell to the floor along the side of the table, again desperately trying to catch him, but Gentoe went around the side, avoiding him a second time. Shinda had to make her own leap back as he ran past her, dropping her needle while he sprinted to the open door. She had no reason before to close it as the other Darjeet never ran before, and Gentoe believe it was his only chance to escape from this prison. He leaped, within inches from the opening, when his forward momentum was stopped, and he fell back to the ground. Kaimana had just caught him at the end of his tadpole tail just in time, and pulled him back into the room. Gentoe tried to retaliate, but he was too small to have any effect. The Water Dragon than reach under him and lift him from the middle of his stomach and held him tightly against himself. "Get the sedative, quickly!" Kaimana yelled, but Shinda already had it in her hands and hurried back over. Gentoe tried everything he could to get away, but the Water Dragon grip couldn't be overcome. He managed one more bust of energy in any chance of breaking free, after he saw the female Human came over with what look like a gun device, more of less with another needle in it. Kaimana was glad that the pup horns haven't grown to points just yet, as the pup was hitting the back of his head into his chest. "Noooo, let me go. . . Please!" He could only cry out in terror. Despite his kicking, Shinda grabbed his right leg and held it steady as the device was jammed on his thigh, and squeezed the trigger. The device didn't require a needle for injection, but can rather infuse the sedative right through the skin and into the body. The effects were quick, and Gentoe struggled less and less until he finally couldn't resist any longer and passed out. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ "Mother of our great oceans, why did he just do that?!" Kaimana had to ask as he lofted the young Darjeet back onto the table. "I don't know, I never seen this kind of behavior before. I don't understand why he acting liked this." Shinda only could respond as she leaned back over the cabinet, trying to get her heart rate to drop. After a moment she came back over. "I am starting to get worry for this little guy." She said as she started to dab Gentoe hind leg with rubbing alcohol to sterilize the area. "Could it be a disorder, or perhaps he not getting the right nutrition?" Kaimana asked, blundering about the reasons as Shinda punctured the Darjeet skin with a clean needle. She extracted a small amount of his blood, afterwards Kaimana healed the wound. "Like I said, I don't know, but all I can say is that he had been having trouble with his family recently. He had gotten into a fight with Link, his older brother." "Just recently?" Kaimana asked, as Shinda pointed his assistant to the cut on the front of Gentoe's chest. It still looks raw and unsealed. Kaimana also healed that too. "I don't think he should be place back with them, he could be. . ." But the Water Dragon was cut off. "Mieka would never forgive me if I take her pup away from her!" She yelled back, almost as she knows mothering instincts. Kaimana step back, surprised by her tone. "It was just a question, seesh sorry I asked." He said frighten, reluctantly returning back to his examination. "No. . . I went out of line there, I'm sorry. It's just she loves him. We built a layer of trust with all our Darjeet families. We take care of them, and they will do anything we ask. If we start breaking that trust now, we may never get it back and we would find it more difficult to go along with this experiment." "I know this but," As Kaimana continues, "He could get hurt again and he seemed distrusting of us already. We probably just destroyed the rest of that with this examination today. I don't know how he will react when he returns back to his pack. I just want to be safe here." Kaimana said. He look closely at her boss, her body tone didn't seem to stiffen, as she finally accepted his question as a logical thing to ask. She was in a way, caring for her Co workers as well. Having them fell like they were part of the team dose more wonders than treating them with disrespect. The answer for his question would be complicated to say, so Shinda respond the simplest way she could. "What you think a child would do when he feels threaten? He would seek his parents for protection, especially the mother. This would become more so after the storm hits tonight." "I just heard it's just been upgraded to a category one." Kaimana said afterwards. "Even this far south, there's not much land to interfere with hurricanes. It's been almost 20 years since the last one, but all the islanders still remembers how destructed they could become. The Darjeet's going to have to learn the hard way, but the building is strong, and they will be safe inside. On how they will react to this we shall see tomorrow, but I'm just hoping everything will be just as normal. I would hate to come in and find the others acting like little Gentoe here." "It would be a mess, that's for sure." Kaimana added. \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ Gentoe awaken, finding himself in the middle of the night in a sleep pile of other Darjeets. He was disoriented and still sleepy, but the other Darjeets natural smell's, which comes from a thin slime barrier after exposure to water which protect their fragile skin, that instantly told him he was with his pack again. Stranger still that they were all huddled around him, because he was at the center of it. His parents, Mieka and Moko were next to him side by side, providing warmth to him. He also found Link, Mink, and Kisley around on the outside of the pile. He then just realized that the air was slightly chilly today. He was only a few months old, but the air always seems to be warm here. The fact it was different today made him even more confused by yesterday's event. That's was when the exam room incident came back to him. That Water Dragon trying to hold him down, painfully he might add, as the Human was going to do harm to him. The wound on his hind leg was gone, and his cut on his chest was too, but he didn't care about injuries. His brothers hurt him, he hated their caretakers, and to top it off, his father put him in time out for no reason. He felt so alone, and he hated that too. He only wanted to leave now, to run and get away from this evil place and it only taken him a minute to figure it out. "Mink" He mutters softly as it came to him. He started to carefully swivel away from his parents, making sure not to rub against them too fast. Than he had to climb over Link. He carefully stood as high as he could. First his right hand, than his left. He slowly moved his body over his older brother, who was still seemed to be happily sleeping underneath. After he got his rear feet over him, he had to lift his tail high enough to make it over as well. Even though he tensed up with the fear of touching him, which could wake him up, he just managed to get his tail up and away. Once he was cleared, he quietly walked over to the wooded log in their enclosure. He remembered that night when Mink escaped from before. He woke up strangely right when he saw Mink opening the gate, and venturing out. He seen what he did, and he think he could replicate it. He picked up that same piece of wood with his mouth, and walked back over to the door. Only the slight tapping of his claws could be heard tonight, although distance rumblings was heard from far away somewhere. He also notices strange howling as well, and it was starting to grow stronger with each passing minute. He didn't like these weird noises, but it wouldn't deter him. He had to rear up, standing on two legs to reach the lock. Than with his right thumb and forefinger, he grabbed the wood piece and started to jam the latch with it. Carefully he positions the stick in front of the latch. He pushed, but the latch didn't budge. He realized he would have to push harder. "Gentoe?" He froze; dread filled every space of his body. "Gentoe, what are you doing?" It was Kisley, speaking as innocence as a child. She awakened by the sudden clanking of the lock, as she developed a habit of wakening up from this because that's the sound which indicate caretakers were coming in. She however, didn't expected to come to in the middle of the night by her younger brother escapeing. There was no turning back for him now. He would get in more trouble for what he is doing and he didn't even want to think what the caretakers, let alone his father would do to him. He was just a month old when he remembered that one time Link gotten himself into serious trouble. He didn't want to experience what he had to suffer threw. He pushed as hard as he could with the stick, and the latch finally gave way. He pushed the door open and bolted out, but making sure the door locked behind him. "GENTOE!" Kisley yelled after what she just witness. Her screaming woke the rest of the pack. Both Link and Mink roll over onto their feet's right away. Mieka was confused and was yelling out as she attempt to get on her own four feet. "What's going on, who's screaming?" She asked as her vision tried to clear up. Moko however, while he was startle by the yelling, rolled onto his back kicking in the air thinking his feet was the ground also yelling, "I'm coming, I'm coming!". That was the first thing Mieka see, puzzled at her mate's behavior. Moko soon realized though that he was upside down, and quickly turn over, back to his feet. Mieka wanted to giggled, taunt him of his childish demeanor, but soon was reminded by the reason they have all been rudely awaken. "It's Gentoe, he escape!" Kisley said worrying, looking back at them. They all looked outside of their cage to where she was pointing at, where Gentoe is busily running back and forth, trying to find a way out. "Oh no. . ." Mieka said with deep despair.
