The young man woke up, except he was no longer a young man. Instead of getting up on two feet, he stood up on four paws. He was covered in fiery red fur, which gave off a fair bit of heat, though he found it quite comfortable. Experimentally, he gave his new tail a bit of a wiggle, before feeling his short muzzle a feel with his forepaws. This was exactly the form he’d expected to wake up in, but even so it was quite a surreal experience. He then looked around, discovering he was in a hellish landscape. Indeed, he was in Hell. Not permanently, mind. The contract stated he would be here for a month of toil, then free to go back home. Nonetheless, when he saw the demon he’d signed the contract with, he saw that the demon had a smug look on its face, like it had just tricked him. “Good morning, my demon ferret minion!” the demon boomed, “Welcome to your new, eternal home!” The ferret rolled his eyes. “It’s a month, as clearly laid out in the contract.” The demon laughed. “Oh, you mortal fool! Though, I suppose not mortal anymore technically, but... you get the point. You see, when you signed the contract, you thought that you would only be here for a month, but that was my trap. There was more text there, too small to be perceptible to your pathetic human eyes, designating you as my slave for all time!” The demon continued his evil laughter, while the unamused ferret stood there, waiting for the laughter to end. After several minutes, there was no end in sight, so the ferret loudly cleared his throat, interrupting the laughter, before calmly stating “Non est factum.” “...What?” the demon asked, raising a fiery eyebrow. “The contract I intended to sign was, through no fault of my own, substantially different from the contract I actually signed. Therefore, said contract is rendered invalid,” the ferret stated simply. The demon stood dumbfounded for a moment, then shook his head. “...I see. But no matter! Now that your new demon eyes can see the text, you will sign the contract with full knowledge of its contents, then be mine for all time!” “I will do no such thing,” the ferret said simply. The demon grinned evilly. “Oh yes you will! If you refuse, then I will burn you in hellfire until your will is broken and you finally agree to...” “Duress,” the demon ferret said simply. “I... buh... wuh...” The demon shook his head, then started pacing, trying desperately to figure out some way to twist things to his advantage. Then finally, he had an idea. “Aha! I’ll simply dominate your mind and...” “Lack of capacity,” the ferret said. “Oh? You think your feeble mind is too strong to dominate, do you?” the demon asked smugly. The ferret shook his head. “No, no, no. If I am under mind control, then I clearly lack the capacity to consent to a legally binding contract.” The demon opened his mouth, then closed it, then opened it, then closed it again, before finally waving his hand, magically opening a portal back to the mortal world. “Just... just go...”
