"Come on!" Ari called back. "You've been looking forward to this for months, let's not back out of it now!" Enthe hurried to catch up to the excitable fox. "I just can't help but worry, though! What if it's not safe?" "I mean, I know it is, but it's just... a lot." "Remember when Algherre did it, though? He's fine, nothing horrible happened to him! You've even done it before, and you didn't die!" She pat the dragon's flank reassuringly. "I'm looking forward to this as much as you are, come on!" The building they walked into was a large one, and impressive as well. Of course, it was a magehall, and with how inclined mages were to showing off, it was almost a surprise there wasn't levitating furniture everywhere. A well-dressed man walked up to the counter and asked about their appointment. "The one o'clock? Alright, there's a bit of paperwork, just need to know some details about the both of you, any outstanding enchantments, that sort of thing. And here's the legal documents; transfer of ownership and licenses, along with records for the census. Fill these out and get them back to me, then we can see about getting you two merged." In a flurry of excited efficiency, Ari filled out all the paperwork before getting four or five signatures from a bewildered Enthe. Not an hour later, Ari was sitting on Enthe's back inside the engraved spell circle, and a wren in the traditional wizard's robes stood just outside it, chanting the spell they had been waiting months for. The blue fluid filling the crevices of the spell-circle began to evaporate, forming a dense mist around the two of them as Ari's legs began to sink into Enthe's sides, the dragon's shoulders shifting to better hold the weight they would support in the future. Her foxish paws combined with Enthe's huge talons, ending with a combination of the two on each of their combined forelegs. They both felt nauseated for a moment as their internal organs shifted around, linking their inner systems together, some organs dissolving away and others moving from one body to the other. After their skeletal structures were fixed to the taur standard, their digestive systems were linked; Ari's intestines dissolved as her stomach became a pre-stomach connecting through to Enthe's larger digestive system. The space freed up by removing the intestines was used to enlarge Ari's heart as well as her lungs, which were also linked through newly-formed tubes to Enthe's lungs in their lower body. Their circulatory systems were linked during this process, which was a particularly strange sensation to Enthe, as the cold-blooded dragon began to feel very warm. The magic surrounding them then began the most difficult part: the integration of the nervous and reproductive systems. Their spine had, up to now, been mostly two separate spines that happened to connect, but suddenly they both felt a rush of sensation as their spinal cords were linked together and their brains began to be rewired. Their minds mixed and combined in ways not even the wizard conducting the spell could predict or even begin to understand. All Enthe and Ari knew, if they could even be considered two separate beings now, was that it felt simply amazing. Their two minds were one, their memories of the past divided into "Enthe" and "Ari", but any further thoughts and ideas were simply theirs. The merge wasn't over, though; while all this was going on, their reproductive systems were integrating into the new shape as well. At Ari's request, her vagina was kept between their forelegs, a slit opening up near Enthe's chest. And at Enthe's request, his heads were linked directly to what used to be Ari's shaft, dense nerve endings filling every inch of his heads and necks. Ari's large balls were saved as well, four of them hanging in pouches under those necks, with the other four being used to increase the size of Enthe's twin packages between his three hindlegs. As the spell wound down, the blue mist fading, the combined being waved their two foxdragon tails, stretching their limbs experimentally. Half of them had never before had arms, let alone six of them, and the other half had never had five legs or any wings--it would take time to get used to this shape. ------ The avian wizard bowed as the spell came to an end. "The spell is complete," she said. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll get the doctor for your physical." As she walked off, her assistant turned to the newly-formed being and asked, "So, should we address you as Ari, or Enthe? Or would you prefer another name altogether?" "Ari and Enthe... Neither of them is me, but then both of them are." "Enthe always liked the name Thirr. I think I will try that name for myself."
