The Cuddle Cafe It was a miserable day for Leo, a stout lion whose mane was ruffled from utter exhaustion. Midterms had been a nightmare, keeping him up into the late hours of the night for a solid week. Now that he had just left school after taking the last Midterm, he was sure that each of those tests had been a complete failure. He was in such a horrid mood that he attempted to evade his feline friend Gypsy as he left through the front gate. Felines, however, are seldom avoided successfully. “Leo!” Gypsy shouted as she pounced on the tired lion. Leo recoiled slightly, but Gypsy's grasp was tight and he knew he would not be able to leave without her attached to his back. “Oh, I didn't see you there.” Leo replied dully. “That's k, I just wanted to congratulate you on your Midterms!” Leo winced. “So how did you do?” “Terrible...I just want to go home and curl up in a ball.” Leo replied. He lifted Gypsy off of his back, and start walking home with his tail between his legs. Gypsy ran to catch up with him, and soon was walking backwards in front of him, looking up at him with a smile. “You know, there are other places you could curl up.” “I don't want to lie down in a ditch.” “No silly! Look, just come with me.” Gypsy commanded and then pulled Leo by the paw. He could have easily resisted her, but a part of him was curious as to what the feline had in mind. They soon arrived in front of a small cafe, tucked between a comic book shop and a nail salon. The neon sign read “Cafe Glomp”. “Whats a glomp?” Leo asked. “You're going to find out.” “I'm scared.” “Don't be.” Gypsy said as she led the lion inside. The Cafe was decorated in light tones, and filled with couches and bean bag chairs. Most of the chairs and couches were empty, but a few had other furs snuggled together, lounging around or just sipping coffee. “So, what do you think?” Gypsy asked Leo. “I...do we just take a seat?” “Mhm.” Gypsy said. Leo scanned the room, and found an empty leather couch that looked particularly inviting. He nestled himself in the couch, and began to think back on all the tests he had mucked up that day. His mind was fluttering through calculus, when Gypsy pounced on him once again. “Um...I think there are plenty of other chairs...” Leo said. “Yeah, but I like this one.” “Why?” “It has a nice warm lion to snuggle.” Gypsy said with a grin. “Any other reasons?” Just before Gypsy could respond, a cute bunny flopped on top of Gypsy and Leo. The force of the glomp winded Leo for a brief moment, but a lion of his size could easily manage a cat and bunny resting on top of him. “Can I help you?” Leo asked the rabbit. “No, I'm fine. How are you?” “WHY DID YOU JUMP ON ME!” Leo said irksomely. “Calm down Leo, he's just being nice.” Gypsy added. “You would think a public Cafe would discourage this.” “They would.” Gypsy began, “But this is Cafe Glomp. Its the Cuddliest Cafe on the planet. See, read the sign.” Leo looked over at a red and white sign mounted over the counter. TRESSPASSERS WILL BE CUDDLED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW. VISITORS, MINGLERS, AND PATRONS WILL ALSO BE CUDDLED. “Oh.” Leo said. He would have protested further, but looking down at the two, he realized that they already seemed to be getting comfy, and he had to admit that the cuddling was quite relaxing. “Can I get you anything.” A hostess said from the side of the couch. Leo hadn't even noticed her walking over, possibly because a doe can be quite elusive when she wishes. “I'll take some coffee. Black please.” “You're such a lion.” Gypsy said,”I'm fine as is.” “\*Yawn\*, just a blanket for me please.” “Certainly.” The bunny's nose started twitching, and soon his eyes were shut. “I hope you don't mind me getting some rest. My name's Roger by the way.” “Leo. So do you come here a lot.” “Yeah, mostly to study. Midterms were a pain.” “Oh yeah,” Gypsy remembered,” I never got an answer, how did you do on your midterms Leo?” “Terrible.” Leo replied. “I just want to forget about it.” The hostess returned with the blanket and coffee, and after some adjustments the three students were cozy once more. “I think I did fine on mine.” Roger mentioned,” but I suppose that doesn't help.” “No, I suppose not, right Leo...Leo?” Gypsy looked up at the lion, who was now fully asleep. Knowing how much he had studied for midterms, the feline decided it would be best not to wake him. She snuggled up next to her friend, and looked out the window as a soft rain began to fall upon the pavement, tinting the windows and making the light from inside seem that much warmer...
