The sound of heavy breathing filled the recorded tape as you played it, sounding as though whoever recorded this message had just gotten away from a near-death experience. The stutter-stricken voice spoke quickly as if to issue a warning. “H-Hello? If you can hear this, you need to get out of the town, get out as FAST as you can. These…these things, these creatures started appearing out of nowhere and began attacking the townspeople without warning! People originally thought it was just a Halloween coincidence, but the more these incidents started to come about, the more we became aware that it wasn’t just a problem. Dog-like creatures, eyewitnesses said they looked completely ethereal at a distance until they started closing in rapidly on a poor person. What they witnessed was immeasurable in horror; suddenly their form solidified, eyes void of any vision save for a bleak-white glow. They tackled him to the ground, pinning him under their weight, incredibly sharp jaws coming down to gnaw fiercely into the side of his neck and ripping it in half, blood literally pouring from the veins and onto the ground. It was horrid, disgustingly so as the creature flew away into the distance.” The breathing continued for a few more moments until silence came out for several seconds, followed by a ghostly howl in the distance. “What was that? What…no, I’m safe, they can’t find me here.” The breathing continued without pause. “Anyways, while witnesses assumed that man was completely dead, they found that the mane suddenly started writhing on the floor as if he was still gripping onto his life. Apparently…that creature had caused a bite that spread fluid throughout his body, causing wispy, ethereal goo to start seeping out the sides of his eyes. Just like that he rose up, slowly swaying left and right…until he lunged at one of them! One word that could describe the event was purely cannibalistic, almost zombie-like but with more ethereal and ghostly features, a split between the world beyond and the world of the living. It chewed and gnawed away at the helpless girl until she was…she was gone. He—no---IT ate her! It ate her alive until there was nothing left, absolutely nothing left…the horror…” He took a long sigh, and then his tone turned worrying. “It’s an infection; the infection itself is spreading far faster than any scientist could ever come to realize it. They managed to get a test subject and try to find more information on this matter…but this creature has never been noticed in history books or anything of the sort, we don’t know what it is or why it suddenly appeared. A dog-like creature, a ghostly shadow similar to a fox…” The male, short of breath had uttered out a single word. “…Shadox.” Suddenly the sound of wood being broken down was heard, then a pair of loud and ghostly growls. “Ah! They’ve found me, how?! Please, whoever gets this tape needs to find help immediately, someone that will be able to eliminate this threat for good! For the hope of mankind as we know it, please—no, no…no! AAAAAAAAAH!” A loud THUD nailed the tape and the last few noises were satisfied growls and then flesh being practically torn into, followed by a few choking gasps and eventually silence as the tape ended. You felt a cold breath start to slide across your shoulder, a deep chill pushing up your entire spine until you very slowly turn your head… Your met with a face glistening in a ghostly glow, purple n’ periwinkle furred frame towering over you with eyes that were devoid of their sockets, save for the white glow that seeped out of the empty sockets. It was clearly ethereal, a wisp that floated off the sides to slightly illuminate the dark room you were hiding in. It found you, razor-sharp teeth dripping a coated goo mixture of blood and slime along the floor, its heavy breathing hitting your face and freezing your muscles up, as though it was primed to rip the soul right out of your body. You could only go on to open your mouth and try to scream for your life before you were knocked unconscious by a massive shove, sending you hurtling into the wall where your fate would be sealed in the paws of the Shadox infection…
