The dragon stomped on yet another car. His clawed paw flattened the vehicle as the metal crumpled around the sides of his feet. The people yelled and screamed in his wake. This was his show. He was the most powerful. He had the right and ability to do whatever he wanted. The fire from the destruction around him made his red scales brighten during his onslaught. He unleashed a large growl that shook the nearby buildings. This city was now his; no one could match his might and take it from him. The seventy foot tall dragon strode out, knocking over buildings that dare stood up to his path. A large apartment complex blocked his path. With a little nudge the building crumpled to the ground, raining debris on the houses behind it. The city was rather big so he had a lot of work to do. Luckily no matter of protection came. No one could stand against his indulgence. He was by far the most destructive force on this planet. He started to follow the crowds of running people as he slowly lowered his foot over top of them. This was what they deserved for being so tiny after all. They deserved everything they were getting. Hell, this should be counted as a blessing. How often does a dragon god decide to bless the ungrateful plebeians of the ground? The bugs needed to learn their place. How dare they even attempt to make buildings as tall as he was. No more would he be threatened by the bugs’ attempt at being big. He would show them that his powerful scales were, without a doubt, the strongest in the world. His stride was the biggest; his everything was beyond what these mortals could comprehend. He was the one true Heir to this world and the world would soon bow down in prostrate to his magnificence. He laughed down at the people. Between his laughs he did notice something out of the ordinary: a loud thumping sound. Perhaps they were trying to land artillery shells on him again. Perhaps they were due some moderation of respect. Sacrificing for the greater good and all. It wouldn’t matter though, nothing was bigger than him. Nothing was going to stop him from dominating his new toys. He was beyond repercussions at this size. Only when the ground began to shake did the nameless dragon begin to think that maybe it wasn’t artillery. When he took another step the ground shook with another loud boom. The dragon stopped in his tracks. The people around his paws continued their fruitless effort at escape. This couldn’t be what he was thinking of, could it? The red dragon looked behind just as a shadow appeared overhead. Behind all his destructive tread stood a beyond massive black silhouette; there stood some sort of canine figure. But, to the dragon’s disbelief, he was… bigger than himself? That couldn’t be right. The beast took another step landing close to the little dragon. Reflexively the dragon covered up his eyes as the air, dust, and debris flew out from under the canine’s paws. How could something be that large? How could something be bigger than he was? Fear entered the dragon’s mind before the musk of the massive coyote’s toes found his nose. He had to escape before being found. With another turn of his heels the dragon ran without care for any building or person that came under his tread. The dragon was arguably causing more destruction and mayhem than before he was startled. Buildings flew past him, his clawed toes smashed into buildings as he ran with all his might. Soon he was out of the shadow as the dragon ran like his life depended on it. A shadow creeped back into view past him. He dared not to look back; he knew it was the overreaching foot of the god above him. The only thing this tiny lizard could do was get out from under it. In the back of his mind the foot was going to fall any time now. His anxiety rose. Any second now the paw would step down and destroy all that he was. The year long wait in the back of his mind would kill him before anything else would. He couldn’t stand it. Any second he would be a massive wet stain on the ground. The thought of him prone on the ground as the tiny folks on the ground all gathered around him, laughing at his inability to be massive, was positively terrifying. Why was he was so small compared to the coyote above him? He was a dragon! That meant that he was the best, right? How could this one titanic beast tower over him so? The dragon needed to clear his head of all this nonsense, lest he be stepped on like some common bug. He concentrated his entire being into escaping. He had to get away. The loudest noise he ever heard erupted behind him as the paw stepped down. The force of the impact made the dragon go air born, helpless against a being of that size. He just narrowly missed the paw crashing down, but he wasn’t strong to withstand such a massive blow to the world at such a short distance. The dragon groaned on the ground, looking up. Ahead of him was the coyote looking down, showing his teeth in the biggest smile that the dragon had ever seen. This was a game to him. The area around the dragon was toast; no buildings withstood the casual footfall of the divine beast looming overhead. The ironic situation flew past the dragon as he questioned just what was in store for him. Why would someone just willingly step on someone? Was he not worthy of independent thought, or his own free actions? By all rights he deserved it; he was above these commoners on the ground. These ants were not worth more than him. Looking up at the face of the monster that made him feel like the smallest. The dragon had forgotten about the own damage he had caused. The city was already in turmoil, the coyote caused much more damage. The foot rose over the dragon. Debris and dust drifted down from the underside of the paw. The dragon was pelted with bits of ground as it fell on top of him. This was the end of the line. The biggest and best was soon to be under paw. The dragon was only part of the tread of the massive canine that casually stepped on the red mythical beast. The coyote let out a little chuckle as he put all his weight on the one paw. --- Iron yawned a bit as he strolled through the world. It was just another lazy day for him. From all the way up there in the atmosphere he heard something a little uncouth. Was someone messing with his playground? With a few steps the coyote saw the offender down below. Yet another dragon thinking this was his territory. He hated to keep enforcing his own boundaries, but the little pests didn’t know this continent was under his protection. It was beyond annoying. They always yelled about how big and powerful they were. It was hilarious. A few steps forward and he was already in the city. He hated to tread over his own land without indulging himself a bit. But sometimes you need to take out the trash. He made sure to go as slow as possible, aiming his steps in the least occupied parts of the city first. When he got closer to the dragon there was no avoiding it. He was going to have to destroy part of his own stock of earth. When he was close enough to the little red ant he stood quietly, waiting for the little animal to run away. As the dragon ran he waited a few moments before taking the smallest step ever. Now he was toying with the little bug. He hated to be so crass, but these offenders needed to know that he was here to protect his own land. With another step he wondered about letting the little critter go. But if he did that more of them would spring up; it would be better just to take care of the problem. With a silent step he stood on top of the little red ant. The little problem was taken care of, with minimum damage to his sovereign. It had to be done. Sometimes you had to put your foot down over arrogance and delusion. He hated to do it, but sometimes people had to be put into their proper place. Be kind, please rewind… or something like that. Iron yawned to himself a bit before twisting on the foot that pinned the little red dragon. He wondered what was on television. “There is always someone bigger, but I’m the biggest today.”
