I didn't originally intend for Cadance to be O.K. with Shining's 3-way proposal. In the first draft or two, Shining showed up with Orion and had to convince Cadance to play along. Obviously, I couldn't get the dialog to make any sense or get even close to working out. So I abandoned the idea and instead changed their personalities around. When I portrayed Shining and Cadance more as sexual predators, everything ran smoothly. Obviously.

I also planned to have Orion not realize he and Shining were going to do it alone together. But, again, I couldn't get the dialog to work out and just said, "screw it! He already knew beforehand and agreed to it."

I have read only 3 fics with this story premise (Cadance and Shining going at it with a micro in the middle)

I debated with myself if I should make this a 4 part story (1 intro + the 3 sections of clop) or all one big seamless story. I chose the former because it's easier to read each section on its own than in one go and readers can choose not to read the parts that aren't to their tastes. Not to mention I could actually publish the individual pieces when they were done instead of waiting.
