Prologue Rough Draft A goddess appeared from the depths of space, appearing from the lone star behind her. The look on her face told that she was desperately looking to prevent the loss of the star behind her. She looked around, as if she was hoping to find something. Or as if she was expecting someone. She called out into the inky void, “Come out, dragon of the dark!” Near instantly, two slits of red turned towards her direction, though as if they suddenly became as so. She shined her light on the red eyes, and all the area surrounding it brightened, but the figure was never illuminated, as if it rejected her brilliant light. The figure spoke in a smooth, yet evil voice, “Ah, Solus... You know just how close you are to losing. I have dominated all of your territory, and upon the destruction of Paradise, you shall be forever bound to captivity. You can’t stop me, and you know it.” Behind Solus, the lone star shined, and she grasped the light to form a sword of immeasurable sharpness. “No, Nexus. You still have to face against me. I shall not let you claim Paradise!” Nexus ignored her and flew in the direction of the Paradise. Solus flew in pursuit of Nexus, who slowed down when he got close to Paradise’s holy light. Solus caught Nexus and put him to sword point. Nexus, however, was ready to fight back. He stood up on his hind legs and slashed his claws at Solus. She dodged his attacks, and swung her sword at him. Nexus was a clever one, and slowly drew Solus away from Paradise, back into Nexus’s conquered realm. There, he swung his claws at Solus, and caught her eyes. She bled, and her blood flew off and became stars for all to see in the night. Nexus saw his progress erased in front of him, and grew enraged. He swung around the blind goddess, striking her with his claws, and as she bled, more of the sky was illuminated, enraging Nexus even further. Finally, when Solus could take no more, Nexus raised his claw, and committed the one act that stopped him from winning the war… He spoke. “Solus, observe, as I shall end this war in my…” And as he spoke, Solus knew where he was, and stabbed Nexus straight in the throat with her sword. Nexus felt his life draining from him, and he dropped. “How…?” Nexus hacked, his voice no longer smooth and cool, but awkward and panicked instead. Solus stood, bleeding to her death, and said to him, “You’ve always let your ego lead your way. And in the end, your pride led you to your defeat.” Both could feel their life draining from them; mere seconds and their consciousness would fall into nothing, awaiting sweet rest. Solus grew unsteady, her thoughts unfocused. Her body was ready to fall… but a thought of caution occurred to her. “Both of us will shortly die, and both of us will come back… But what if Nexus recovered first..? Surely, he would not miss the opportunity… if I did not come back in time to fight again…” A flicker of will suddenly came into Solus’s graceless form. “I must… prepare… for the worst…” her thoughts echoed. Solus grabbed the dead Nexus. “I hereby banish you from the heavens!” she yelled, with a dying triumph behind her voice. She held her arm back… and threw him onto a nearby planet. She fixed her focus on the planet that Nexus landed upon, and began her preparations to keep him secluded onto the planet. The goddess went back to Paradise and gave one last touch to her preparations: a single seed of light. The seed could grow into a formidable Guardian, one with the strength to match the dark dragon’s. And after she sowed the seed, she passed into a deep slumber. Both knew that the two would come back to life, as a deity’s immortality shall never lead them to fully die, but when would they come back..? They could only wait.
