The doorbell rang for what had to be the hundredth time that Halloween. Not uncommon in our neighborhood, but when I rounded the corner from the living room to the foyer, the door was standing wide open, and nobody was on the doorstep. Confused, I looked outside, then inside, and closed the door. I went back to the couch and told my wife about what happened, unwrapping a bit of my favorite candy from the bowl. She shrugged and suggested it might have been the wind, or some kids pulling a prank. I agreed. The night wore on, and the candy supply dwindled until we turned the porch light out. I was tired, and went to bed early. My wife said she'd be up in a little bit, and as I changed to my pajamas and settled cozily into the blankets I started to drift off, another Halloween in the bag. I felt a weight sink into the bed beside me, but when I opened my eyes, What I saw WAS NOT my wife.
