In the falling darkness we reached for the stars. Our finger tips brushed the tail of a shooting star and we found ourselves drifting through the ether. With solar winds blowing our hair, we lay motionless. The vast emptiness of space was all that cradled our young forms. As we are held in the tender embrace of the cosmos, the universe continued to be. Ever expanding, ever changing. Endlessly floating in the nothingness between stars, we watched as atoms danced and combined. We marveled as more came to join the strange spinning waltz. Hours passed as we watched, and still more atoms came to join in the dance. The dancing began to take on a light all its own. The once dim light began to grow brighter with each passing moment. It finally became so bright that we had to shield our eyes from its radiance. Over the shadow cast by our hands we could see waves of blue flowing out away from the newly born star’s surface. Days passed and the star’s size grew larger than smaller as it burned through its fuel. The majestic blue star consumed more and more of its hydrogen. With each passing moment the unknown star grew closer to oblivion. Quickly the star blossomed. It grew larger and larger until, in the blink of an eye, the star was gone. As we lay nestled in the nothingness of the universe we are left to ponder the impermanence of life.
