Ursa stood motionless as he found himself unexplainably standing in front of a large creepy looking upright wooden mirror. The small bedroom he was in was definitely his own. He could see the large sliding glass door that led to his backyard standing ominously in the background through the reflection of the mirror. He could see his bed adorned with a couple of old stitched together stuffed animals, and the hooded blanket that had cat ears stitched to it sprawled lazily across the top of it. He could see his UFO poster hanging from the wall next to his bead and the fuzzy carpet he stood on, and his computer that sat in an adjacent corner of the room its monitor glowing so brightly in the darkness that he couldn’t make out what was on the screen. It was weird. All four corners of his room were there; however, the corner he now stood in decorated by the old mirror, didn’t seem to exist. He turned to look at the other corners of the room, each one seemingly normal, but when he turned back around, there was the mirror. For a split second he again looked away from the large clear glass, and when he turned back to look it his heart jumped into his throat. His reflection had now become pitch black, the eyes of the reflection were a deep yellow that seemed to stare straight through him. The porcupine’s heart raced, and he began to back away, however before he could even take the first step, the dark reflection raised its arms and reached out, its two black arms escaped the mirror, and suddenly he could feel the shadows black grip the shoulders of the little porcupine. Without warning the porcupine’s eyes opened as he flung up from his bed. Panting he realized it was only a dream, and for a second he glanced around his dark room. The blinds of the sliding glass door were closed and his computer monitor light blinked in sequence as it did in sleep mode. Breathing a sigh of relief he stepping down from his bed and headed for the bedroom door; however, as he went to open it he looking back, unable to shake the feeling that he wasn’t alone. His first thought was the large glass door that led to the backyard. With his heart sinking in his chest he eyed the cloaked door and the deep blue blinders that covered it. Cautiously he approached the door expecting at any moment for someone or something to burst through and as he stood face to face with the towering doorway he only felt even more uncomfortable. His hand inched its way closer… closer, until it firmly grasped the drape that covered the sliding glass door. For a second he closed his eyes and hoped that he was only exaggerating, then with all his might he flung the drapes back causing one of the plastic rings that held up the drapes to snap off and fly backwards hitting the floor and rolling callously under his bed. He expected to see a nightmarish creature waiting for him on the other side of the glass, looming over him, but… Nothing. It was just his back yard. The small patch of grass that led to it, the moat like river that ran through it into the forest beyond. With a sigh of relief he closed the blinds that now dangled slightly leaving a small sliver of the glass still showing. As his heart slowed back to normal he walking back to his bed and lowered to his knees, and as he peered under the bed to try and spot the plastic ring his eyes grew wide as a pair of bright yellow eyes stared back at him from the darkness.
