>You are Anon. >You live in Ponyville with a batty roommate kekekkekkeekee named Echo, who is accordingly a bat pony. >Your home is only one story, so she lives in the attic. >You were kind enough to clean out all the dirt and dust in the place for her to live in. >Right now, there's quite a ruckus going on in there. >Did Echo find another bat? Didn't she learn how not to go batshit keekee when she found one of her cousins? >Great, she's probably ruining the whole place up, and you'll have to clean it up again because you can't say no to those li'l bat eyes. >Also because she's lazy. >While contemplating about this though, you hear the attic door slam open. >Now you're gonna have to fix that t- "WHERE IS IT?!" >Out of nowhere, Echo slams into you, tackling you out of the chair and pinning you down. >Boy, she looks pissed. >"Where is what, Echo?" "You know what I'm talking about!" >No, you don't. >"Uh, no." "The mango, smartface! The one I've been ripening up for that special thing today!?" >Special thing? Don't know about that either. >"Sorry, no clue." "Ughhhhhh!" >She jumps off of you and zooms into the kitchen. >What's got her so worked up? >You decide to help Echo out with her ordeal. >So she's looking for a mango. It's practically the only thing she eats nowadays, since you can never say no to her begging, so this isn't out of the ordinary. >But she's never been this distraught over anything, even mangoes. She may just be overreacting, but you care for her, so you might as well offer some assistance. >You enter the kitchen and are met with what a twister left over. >Oh Echo. You love her, but goddamnit, she's so inconsiderate. "Where is that darn thing?!" >"Uh, do you think I could help out, Echo?" >She turns to you with a face of agitation. "Sure, why not." "Just so you know, I already checked the pantries and fridge, so all that's left is thiat fruit bowl." >"Oh, well then I can go an- >She swoops to the table and grabs the bowl. >So much for being helpful. >She pours out the contents onto the floor. "Dyah, not here either!" >Think. Just think for once, Echo. "Maybe I left it under that tree..." >She's about to storm out of the room, but not until you stop her. >"Echo?" >Freeze framed in her flying stance, she looks to you. "Yes?" >"If you going to go anywhere else, can you not leave such a mess behind?" >You present to her Exhibit A. "Oh. Heh. Sorry." >She flies out to the back where the mango tree is. >You remember the history of that tree; it was a peculiar tree. When Echo's relatives came to Ponyville and she introduced you to them, they planted a mango tree in the back as a sign of friendship with you. It was touching. >But there's something else strange about the thing; it's never beared fruit the whole time it's been there. >Echo's parents said that a mango would only be seen on the tree when "Those in the dark are met with a light." >Who's in the dark and what's this light? >Whatever, you might as well go check on Echo in the backyard. If the mango she's talking about is from that tree, it must be a sight to see. >You take through the hallway to the back door. Through the screen, you see Echo rummaging yet again around the entire place. >She's bat related, but she's not blind, so is she deaf instead? >You open the screen door when she whooshes by to the mango tree. She looks up to it and sees a mango. >So it is that mango. But it doesn't look like much. It's pretty shriveled up, like a dish rag, and it's a dull gray. "No! Darn it!" >You approach Echo. >"So, this is the mango that you're looking for? Doesn't seem too enticing..." "Not exactly..."
